im also wondering what backpacks or luggage people use. i will be traveling around SEA. im thinking of taking a carry on sizr backpack fro clothes and another backpack for my laptop etc. that way i dont have to have any checked luggage. i traveled around EU for a couple months about 15 years ago and used a large backpacking camping style. i had to pack more and heavier clothes though and it was still kind of over kill. i was also thinking a small hard case would be good so stuff stays dry in the rain. all together i feel like the convenience of just a light laptop bag and another small backpack or duffle bag would be better.

I'm 33
No gf
Haven't had a vacation in 4 years.
No sx 5 years.
All I do is work yet barely have any money.
I have 3 weeks of vacation time I need to use
Last place I went was Hawaii but my friend paid for most of it.
Can you recommend me a good place to visit that's relatively cheap and relaxing for an American like me?
Thought about Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico since that is what my coworkers are and they rec it but I'm white and want to have a good time.
Can Europe be cheap?

I'm going to Santa Rosa for the Peanuts Collector Club Beaglefest event (a social gathering for fans of the Peanuts comic strip, Charlie Brown, Snoopy).

I'll be touching down at San Francisco airport on a Sunday afternoon, and I want to check in to a hotel for one night. I'm looking for a place/area to stay that's nearby shopping for toiletries and maybe some quick sight seeing before being picked up by a friend on the Monday afternoon for the drive to Santa Rosa. I'm travelling solo up to this point.

I found San Francisco Centre on a map, nearby to some hotels, so I'm led to believe this is a good built-up location. 10 minute walk to a walgreens pharmacy. Though online I'm reading this shopping centre is run-down. But don't know, is this good enough is or is there anywhere vastly better to stay? Any suggestions to add to this plan? e.g. places to visit here, opportunities to socialise a short while...

So in 2025 with usa, I feel like the question is not if the country is gonna collapse, but when.
The dept can no longer be paid.
Prices are going up, maybe for a couple (or many) years.
And I'm not sure how anyone is choosing to stay.

But then I was reminded that countries have a waiting period to become citizen?
How fast can I be one? I thought it could be very fast. Any tricks to make it fast? (do i have to marry a native?)
And I need place with good services, good prices, low crime, and stuff.
Any one know some good options? I feel like i get a lot of different options.

First I got Denmark, now I'm getting Portugal.
I just want a good social system, good money, good benefits, good prices, good medical and general stuff.

What are my options?

Do you think more people will leave the sinking ship of usa?

The problem is, there's too much info.
How would you save it? Take a million screenshots of the ai chat giving answers?

You have to know, what places to go, the travel options in city, hotel/residence prices, food prices, currency, what times things are open, events, shows, places to party/have fun, movies, museums, bars, ectra.

And You need the ai to help you summarize it all.
Lucky when you ask a question, you can say hey "ai" summarize that for me.

>Anyone else use chatgpt to make their itineraries now?
no, it's shit
always wrong timing, transportation gets ignored, misses less popular sites etc.
the only thing it does good is giving an overview of possible big attractions / activities... but so does tripadvisor, just as bad

and don't tell me I don't know how to use it, my job is like 90% llms now

my (unchanged) hierarchy of sources is still
>written travel guides (library), travel videos, UNESCO map and premade tour company itineraries as rough inspiration
>travel blogs, wikipedia, tourist website, country / travel reddit and experience booking sites for specifics
>/trv/, travel blogs in local language or more obscure blogs for less known stuff

relatively unchanged during the last 10y
with some small adjustments, reddit unironically got better for travel stuff, the UNESCO map is quite new and google groups is dead now

>countries have a waiting period to become citizen?
most countries will require a few years residency before naturalization
extreme examples are Austria, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland etc. with 10y

>How fast can I be one?
country, money and profession dependent

if you're a high profile scientist, chances are much much better
if you have ~$1million+ to spare, also much easier via investment (e.g. Malta with 1y and 750k)

Netherlands, France, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, Luxemburg, Sweden all require 5y, which is globally somewhat on the lower side

again if you have special skills it can be shorter
France has a 2y fast track if you come there for e.g. to a university on tenure-track

>good social system, good money, good benefits, good prices, good medical and general stuff.
pick 3 or 4, but not all
EU countries will generally only have mediocre salaries compared to the US
you can go to Switzerland or big cities, but then prices won't be good
overall the countries with the best opportunities are probably Germany, Netherlands or Switzerland

Set up a dating app, pay for the premium. Set your location to different cities around your country, eventually, you'll find women who are interested in you. Talk to them for a while, then fly to their countries and get laid. (I get ZERO matches in my home country but a ton of matches abroad)

The hostels that brand themselves as "party hostel" will generally put something together every night. If not just invite your roommate down to the hostel bar for some drinks.

It pays to research where you're staying. Don't pick any old hostel because some are actual shit holes with migrant workers paying for a cheap bed. Any hostel that has a bar attached is a solid bet for meeting other travelers.

Anonymous No.2791126
>>2791124
The US is a car-centric country. Outside of major cities, you do need a car to do almost anything.

On the other side of the coin, that apparent inaccessibility might be why those national parks are "the best." Imagine if they were a shorter drive, or if they were easily accessed via public bus. It would get shitty so fast with the overtourism and the increased garbage.

Look at central and eastern euro cities. Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Bucharest... and Lviv if you're not afraid of air raid alarms. Do some research before. I've wasted time and money in a boring city. But those I've listed are fun.

>>2790639
Download the hostel world app and look at the reviews, some hostels are huge like a hotel and that makes it hard to socialise. Find a small one with good reviews in or around the centre of the city and just be friendly and chatty. Have a good Instagram profile that makes you look interesting and attractive, you'll probably use it for keeping contact with people. I used to be a bit nervous but honestly it's so much fun to find random people and get a beer with them and end up exploring a city together. It's the easiest way to punch above your weight in terms of hooking up with girls. Back home I could get a 5, travelling, with a bit of charm and alcohol I could get an 8. Don't go too hard on the drinks or drugs. It can ruin the next day and make you feel homesick and you lie in your hot hostel bed with the sun shining outside.

>>2791172
Better to do from A to B because it's a bit sad ending back where you arrived and waiting the day for your plane.

Young Georgians now are speaking a lot more English than the older generation. Some of the younger Generation are refusing to speak russian for obvious reasons. When it comes to enjoying nature/national parks, my advice comes down to this; "go far, go early." Go far, as in, to out of the way places, but also on longer, more technical trails, once you get there; anything more involved than a 5-mile out and back is gonna weed out 90% of NPCs. Arrive early, ideally as soon as the park opens (or earlier if overnight camping is allowed) and you should have in demand views and sites mostly to yourself.

Fully depends on the trip the complexity and needs. A "I just want to go to europe and don't care about the budget, where I end up going and what I do" trip can be done with absolutely no planing beside booking a flight.

Other features to look out for:
>sternum & waist straps if you plan on walking for extended periods while wearing the backpack
>lockable/"kissable" zippers (two zippers with a hole that can be locked together with a padlock)

Optional: Get a second, smaller bag (10L or less) to use as your "daypack."
Your main 40L backpack carries everything from the airport to your ho(s)tel, while your daypack just carries your daily essentials (camera, water bottle, power bank, snacks, pen, medication, etc.)

How dangerous is Clason Point Castle Hill in the Bronx actually? Like am I going to get robbed if I go there in middle of the day with a sketchpad?

I'm trying to get artistic references for the area for a fancomic I'm making (Puerto Rican girl isn't friends with locals, retreats to the nature park nearby, home is in one of the houses south of the three-tiered project housing) and amongst a general visit to New England for artistic inspiration of the original show, I wanted to travel to NYC for a community where a Puerto Rican family would live. I'm seeing stuff about crime and robberies, but I used to live in Houston and bike through some pretty ghetto and criminal neighborhoods back when I was younger and while people asked me what I was doing, no one bothered me when I told them I was biking through or doing campaign door-to-doors for Bill White.

My plan was to take the ferry or bus to the region, visit the Soundview Park Amphitheater, travel up Lacombe Avenue, walk by the houses south and then take a bus back. Daytime visit, no major stops, just some quick sketches for context and bounce.

I assume just take normal Amerifat common sense precautions? Also in a general sense, what sort of locations could I visit to experience and understand more traditional Puerto Rican culture in the Bronx or NYC in general? I could just research and look at streetview online, but I'd had this whole sequence set in the Ampitheater and I felt going there would make it more real for the story.

>How far in advance do you usually plan trips to other countries (buying plane tickets, hotels, etc)?
really depends on when you want to go
I typical travel 3-4 weeks in April and 3-4 weeks in October, that's low season almost everywhere and I usually book everything ~1month before

check public holidays, big sport / music / political events, trade fairs etc.
the more events, the earlier you have to book hotels & attractions
some special attractions are booked out for months though (e.g. Alhambra)
plane tickets always get more expensive the closer you get to your date

also the more flexibility you have (budget, time) the later you can book
a densely packed culture trip might be better to book earlier, while a bar hopping & party vacation can basically be done ad hoc

keep in mind that you have to plan ~6h to get from door to door Berlin to Munich (if you take the fast ICE)
or do the night train

either way 3 days is not a lot for any Berlin or Munich
personally I'd rather do 6days Berlin and do a daytrip or two (Potsdam or Hamburg being the obvious ones if you want to stay within cities)

why do so many people want to travel to Munich anyway?
I live there and it's a really great place to live but I don't get the touristic appeal

>being deployed from the UK for 3 years to Edwards AFB
>never been to the West coast before
>don't know which areas to avoid but know I don't want to be in LA
>have a budget of $4k a month for rent (and then another $3-4k for utilities, food and travel)

Thought I'd ask here and on Plebbit to try and get a general feel for areas to look at it. It would be me and my wife, early 30s and no kids. We're both coming from very green areas so will be difficult to adjust to the desert. Been looking at places in SW Lancaster and Bear Valley Springs. We're quiet people and keep to ourselves so would want to avoid anywhere that's either very progressive or very conservative. We don't care about politics, religion or social issues. Just want to explore the US during my tour as we love the Wild West themes, hiking in the national parks and exploring nature.

Would appreciate any advice

On Euor flights almost impossible they're mostly overbooked so unless a feeder/interconti flight is canceled/delayed there won't be any seats beside the 1-3 Business class seats they keep open for their high tier loyalty status holders and biz travel that is okay with paying 890€ for a 1h flight.

Am a mid 20s virgin. Currently in Pai, Thailand, but aim to travel for the next foreseeable year across SEA and Central Asia, and then maybe EE or LatAm if I still have funds by then. Have never had a meaningful social life. Have never been to a bar or nightclub.

Step by step, what is the most surefire way I can reverse my loserdom? What specific country can I go to in which it's impossible not to make friends and maybe meet girls? I'll at least take the former over the latter since all women are whores anyway. What techniques can I employ to absolutely minimize and mitigate the traumas from the past from fucking up the present and future?

I plan on going to China for some basic bitch tourism.
My home countryin the EU has agreements so you don't need a visa to enter China as long as you stay less than 30 days. But a lot of info I find still states that you need a tourist visa.
So how does it work, I just show up for my flight and then get an entry stamp?
pls be patient I'm retarded and only travelled within the EU thus far

you don't need visa as a european for most countries, if that's your question but each country has its own visa policy so check the ones you want to visit.

It's impossible not to in Philippines, but it's a degen loser trap and you'd be better off getting an english teaching job in vietnam/cambodia for a year or so and trying to be a normie on easy mode

The guy was asking about SEA, central asia, eastern europe or south america, check the reply chain my dude. I would say SA is the easiest to make friends out of those regions but ymmv. SEA if your goal is cooming.

I've booked my departure flights 6-10 weeks in advance. It's very rare that prices will go down if you book less in advance. Currently looking at booking a flight four months out, because it will be very close to New Year's Day, typically a high-demand high-price travel period for Southeast Asia.

Anyone ever fly one of those discounted, shitty flight itineraries? I'm looking at a VietJet flight from [Place], India to Vientiane, Laos on New Year's Day. The two destinations are about four hours apart by air, but the itinerary for virtually all departures from India would take 16-17 hours, with a 9-10 hour layover in Saigon airport.

Worth the 60-70% cost savings?

No? Just drink bottled water and brush your teeth with it too. But if you are in Cancun I'm assuming you are staying at some resort so other than the tap water, the food and drink should be safe?

Is 3K USD good enough for 6 days/1week in Germany and Austria? 1 day in Munich, 1 day in Klagenfurt 3 days in Vienna and 2 in Frankfurt?

Yes. A pregnant woman should remain in her safe space (home) and only be traveling to visit family/friends and possibly some light shopping( short safe trips)
When you put some thought into understanding that the personality and overall healty is first developed inside the womb and then also understand how much conscious and unconscious environmental threats and dangers pose a threat towards becoming a healthy and happy individual . You may then conclude that , no, traveling to an unknown territory is not safe for a preggo woman

See black neighborhoods and the health/happiness of people there
If you are triggered by "racism"
See "low-income "neighborhoods instead
