I doubt anyone was saying that when the Knight first appeared. It's clear people are only making Roaring Fraud jokes because you can indeed withstand her attacks in Chapter 3, and she spends all of Chapter 4 running away from your party.
Whether she even oneshots the party if you "win" her fight is up to debate, as a ton of people believe Kris did so instead.

It is deliberately vague, in order to set up the subversion that your choices do matter, and that even though the prophecy does progress as it is illustrated, it does so depending on your choices. Actually I think the Vessel was a trap and a cage for the player. And given the parallels between Chara and FRIEND, I think they discarded your vessel for that reason, to save (YOU). If you are God/Angel, then it's natural the character associated with the devil is against you. Freedom is associated with the Weird Route and Noelle, while Silence is associated with Gray, Goners, even your vessel is called a Goner in the files. This makes even more sense when Chara and Gaster have opposite associated numbers, being 9 and 6.
A true vessel should be someone with thousand of parallels to the Son of God and associated with the cold.

The Angel is (You). How that's interpreted by the characters varies on the route, and some might not even attribute it to (You), but it's undeniably (You).
Just like how it was in Undertale, where the Delta Rune prophecy speaks of an angel who's seen the surface and will cause the underground to go empty.
The actions of (You) using Frisk as a vessel determine if the underground goes empty or not, and if it does empty, how it goes about this, whether that's freedom from imprisonment or genocide leading to total erasure of the underground.
In Deltarune, the Angel will be banished to meet with its desire. This doesn't mean "the game ends" because that's stupid, it refers to Kris banishing (You) from his body once he no longer needs the SOUL in order to fulfill his promise.
Gaster assumes your desire at that point will be to reclaim your discarded vessel so that you can be truly free, meet those WONDERFUL SOMEONES for yourself, and also so that you can finish your work in HIS DELTARUNE to save the worlds.

The plot of Undertale flat-out doesn't work if there's another human in the underground. At all.
Sure, you can patch up the Asgore plothole by saying he wouldn't kill his best friend's daughter, that's fair enough. But Asgore is not the real problem here - FLOWEY is.
If there was another human present, Flowey would either not be able to SAVE (which he explicitly could until Frisk fell) or he'd be able to kill Dess and take her soul at any point, because he can just reload if she wins.
He could become God of Hyperdeath without all the monster souls because he could just kill Dess after taking the 6.
He could've killed Dess and Toriel to cross the barrier and grab more souls from the surface to become god, but he didn't. Because Dess isn't a human.
"Antlered girl and her big sis" doesn't even MEAN the big sis doesn't have antlers, this dialogue was written when Chapter 1 was the newest and we knew nothing about Dess, so "antlered sisters" would mean nothing to the viewer. "Antlered girl" would bring to mind the girl you had to talk to in the intro before Susie walked in, so Toby wrote it that way as to tell you "hey, he means Noelle, and Noelle has a big sister."
Alternatively it could be because Sans is from Deltarune and isn't used to the antlered girl HAVING a big sis at all.

People were able to guess that this letter was from The Man because it was very Gaster-like in every way except the personality of the speaker. The Man was the obvious candidate as the most Gaster-like Deltarune character who isn't Gaster.
Based on what we know "Gaster's Deltarune counterpart" seems like the best guess as to his identity. "Proto-Papyrus" was a fedora-tipper completely unlike the Papyrus we know or The Man, and Grandpa Semi was a cut character who may or may not have been reworked into Gaster and we know absolutely nothing of substance about him.
