Her reaction to Asriel getting his first kiss had her sperg the fuck out and make them go to church for a week despite the fact the church they go to doesn't have a concept of sinning. Alvin knows what sins are, so it's possible Toriel is from other much more strict denomination of the church they go to.
So she takes it seriously in some aspects but others she doesn't care for.
I do think it's worrisome that as far as she knows, someone slashed her tires and her kid was missing but she decided to go dancing with Sans instead. Not outright to bad mom territory but concerning behavior.
