I actually did something similar with an NPC with a game I scrapped (twice, now). Basically, a centaur-girl who just so happens to be good friends with the female lead sets out to make it on her own toward the beginning of the game. And about a dozen times, she can end up dying as an unintended consequence of a decision the player makes. Some of the decisions are mundane, like whether or not you stop at a town on your way to a city further down the road, while other shit is really counterintuitive. But the real kicker is if you make all the decisions that keep her alive all the way to the end, she's mentioned in the epilogue to have failed all her business ventures and ends up dying of poor anyway. I dunno why I thought it was the funniest shit ever like a decade ago, but there's no way in hell I'll ever change it if I actually complete this damn thing.

For example, the main premise is that in that universe, space travel is impossible because space is made of some kind of energy that kills any living being. That's why the alien invaders are robots. At first you think they're being controlled from their home planet, but near the end you realize the aliens turned themselves into those robots. That's a great premise, right?
Well, except for a single stage where they introduce Dantarion, which is an expy of Godzilla. They don't even bother mentioning the space barrier, they just wanted a Godzilla fight in their game.

And lastly, this is just glossed over in the ending, but I think 1/3 of Earth's population died during the game. Even if you try to limit destruction to the cities, the battles are massive and usually the Earth's armies get destroyed before you even get there.

"Intentional" is a stretch. A good dub was likely impossible under the conditions, I've heard it was a rush job they had 2 weeks or so and the actors only had scripts with minimal context, but that's not an intentional effort to create a bad dub. That's incompetence.

One of the final stages has you invading the main Volgara base, and you have to fight 3 or 4 Volgara one after another, in the hardest fight in the game. The world's armies decided to hold off the main Volgara force away from the base (so you can destroy it), even though their attacks are 100% useless. They're not even trying to stall them, just giving them targets so they don't go back to base. What happens is that the Volgara have an absolute barrier (a teleport), and no projectile weapons work against them, not even yours (your robot has missiles and cannons too). What your robots do is punch them until their barrier is disabled, so you can finish them off with any weapon.

In EDF 4.1, 99% of humanity was destroyed, and the last city is basically vaporized in the final battle while you're fighting in it. And even if you win, the alien superstructure falls on the city anyway.

They've said they were pitching titanfall 3 when they decided to switch to apex themselves. I like titanfall but the devs have always been pretty boneheaded. They kept pitching themselves up against way more successful games and then shrugged, decided the playerbase doesn't exist, and decided to sell their souls to work in the hero extraction royale shooter mines forever.
