I finished my mentor playthrough of NG2B last night. Truly, Archfiend is the pinnacle of boss fights. Especially when he's crawling out of the hole and you do nothing but shoot his face, dodge as he spews blood at you, and then repeat. 4 is easily going to have the best boss fights in NG, I'm certain of that much.

Razor's Edge removed most of the awful ones like forcing Ryu to walk due to the curse. I will never understand the absolute massive hateboner everyone has for QTE's simply because they were overused 10+ years ago, they can be fun in small doses like the falcon dive or Raiden chucking a Metal Gear. Also NG2 literally added cinematic takedowns and made the gameplay much more "movie'like" but nobody ever bitches about that

The tidbits of lore from 1 made for pretty interesting read and the whole premise is interesting as a setting.
Ryu could use some fleshing out too. He's basically automaton for 1 and 2, which I'm told is pretty different from how he's characterized in DoA, where's he's cool and distant but still very human

I think the reason why is partly because 3RE became the hardest game in the series.
Now 2, their sacred cow, wasn't the hardest game anymore and the gamer cred they base their identity around decreased in value.
This is also why 4 is getting so much hate from them.
