Switch 2's first year being heavily padded with runoff from the Switch's final year and it is anti-hype. Previously announced Switch games running better on the new console does nothing for me. I need games where no amount of cutbacks could get it running on the original hardware. Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders all could run on Switch 900p 30fps docked.

New consoles no longer generate the same kind of reaction because the abrupt generational shift is being replaced by a gradual "upgrade" shift.
People bought the Switch 2 (and PS5) as upgrades to their Switch 1 (and PS4/PS4 Pro). People are using their Switch 2 to play Switch 1 games "better" (this is debatable in some games) and that's basically it for now. The transition to Switch 2 exclusives will be slow and steady, and people will eventually say, "Holy shit, we're already halfway through the Switch 2 generation and it doesn't even feel like it's started yet!", just like they did with the PS5.

Sure, but almost all of them will have been released within the next 40 days (with the exception of FE, Mario Wonder, Rhythm Heaven, and Tomodachi Life), and I’m willing to bet all but FE will be released by the end of March. It’s not like they’re years upon years away, and if I’m right they’ll all be out within the first year of launch.

The chances of the announced games being cancelled is close to zero, so for all intents and purposes they are titles the console “has” within its launch year.

Even if you want to discount the unreleased titles, I’d say what has been put out is a relatively steady cadence after only ~4 months on the market. I wasn’t a huge fan of Mario Kart but I really enjoyed DK. I know a lot of people who bought their Seitch 2’s in anticipation of Kirby and Pokemon in particular.

I think the console is doing a very good job of catering to a wide variety of players in terms of available genres, though I still believe the Switch 1 had a stronger launch with BotW. I think the big thing the console is missing is a big ass RPG.

I kind of don't know how to feel about it. The big draw of the Switch for me was that I was constantly traveling. And so having a Switch made sense because I could play vidya on the road. But now that I'm not traveling anymore I don't really feel as much for it? I'm looking forward to Fire Emblem and Metroid Beyond, both of which will drop next year but that's just 2 games. I don't care about Pokemon ZA. I don't care about Mario Kart World. I'm extremely suspect about everything involving those download cards. And the only other draw of having a switch, 3rd party games in a portable format, is less relevant to me now.

I saw something about them renewing the trademark on Virtual Console. They could be making an alternative to the NSO service that allows single purchase without the need for the sub.

It's basically just a Switch Pro right now, what is there to even talk about? It runs my Switch games better and none of the Switch 2 games currently out appeal to me so I have nothing to say about it. Come back in a year's time when it has a library of exclusives specifically designed for the system.

I think nintendo has a strategy where they try to hype up game during different directs, so we don't get overwhelmed with all games at same time. However since I think it's supposed to be releasing soon, I think there's stuff they still need to work on the game, either that or they're going to delay it. There was also some speculation video about how metroid prime got delayed like 3-4 times and that moving that game's release date around probably must've thrown a wrench on some of the marketing/release dates of other games. I just locked in my order for a switch 2. I'm pretty excited to play my collection of games on a console with better performance. Some of my favorites were struggling to keep in a double digit framerate at peak times, and comparison videos for them on the switch 1 and 2 show a smooth framerate on the new system.
