>they don't know about the Mississippians and Oasisamericans
Natives were on par with the Goths, Gauls, and other Germanic kingdoms aside from metal use, they actually built large towns and some cities. sedentary towns and especially agriculture more broadly was actually pretty common.
To say nothing of civilizations further south in Mexico, Peru etc

The historically accurate Thunder stuff in the KI Reboot is an additional optional costume, so it's just a bonus, not something replacing the original
>Fantasy interpretations of real cultures should be treated as their own thing. Not "problematic". In the same way there's clearly unfaithful fantasy versions of greek/roman cultures in tons of games, it should be just as fine to enjoy "real" heyahooya as well as "fantasy" heyahooya.
To a point, the problem is most people are stupid and ignorant and get taught jack shit about Precolumbian history or cultures so most people think shit like Apocalypto is unironically accurate.
Personally I think it's fine to be inaccurate and do your own ideas and fantastical spin on things, you should just be doing it out of artistic intent and after having done research and deciding you still want to go in a different direction anyways. If you just don't bother doing research and make shit that's wrong out of ignorance, then you deserve the flak

Kotal and Necalli may be jobbers but Kotal is legitimately a pretty well done adaptation of Huitzliopotchli, aside from the fact NRS seems to want to pretend he's based on Buluc instead, and his design being pretty sterotypical, but I give the latter a pass since it's fucking Mortal Kombat and the entire franchise lives on 80s action movie tropes and sterotypes
Necalli's default outfit and design is shit but his story mode one is a neat reference to Mesoamerican jewelry with jade, gold, turquoise, and obsidian pieces.
