Theres a quest in the black shores where you come across a simulated world that realized it was fake and started messing with the real world to try and prevent themselves from dying when you shut off the computer. The side quest resolves us killing an entire sentient universe with zero fanfare or nobody involving giving a single shit they just obliterated billions of lives.

If you're new get verina, and if possible shorekeeper in the starter banner. Then focus on standard weapons starting with the sword with your standard rolls. For limited characters you get with astrite, roll for who you like, no one is massively better than anyone else (you can look for their best teams if you want to metafag but having 2 teams is better than 1 great team when you're starting).

gacha is quite generous as it gives around 100 rolls o more worth of rolls per patch.
pity is at 80, there is 5050 for characters so 160 rolls in a super worst case scenario, weapon banner is guaranteed with pity at 80.

The story, dialogue, and characters are truly awful. Every line, every visual motif, every camera angle is an anime trope. It is written as if someone had no experience with the real world and their only point of reference is seasonal trash anime. This no cowboy bebop or trigun, the writers seem to want every moment to be packed with as much emotion as possible, subtly or understatement are completly absent. If you like lines such as "I have to save everyone!", "We'll fight for a better tomorrow!", or "I cherish everything" this is the game for you because you'll be hearing them every 5 minutes, not exaggerating on this. I must therefore conclude that this game does not have the capacity to enrich your life in anyway and that your better off doing something else with your limited time alive.

With the reason for the no recommendation out of the way lets address the genshin in the room. I played genshin from 1.0 to 5.5, I'm pretty familiar with it. So which is better? Genshin is broadly more polished and better executed; better music, more distinct art style, smoother movement, it even has a few quest-lines that are genuinely enjoyable. Wuthering waves appears to not be as stingy with resources but I don't have enough experience with it to know how it all shakes out, I suspect they're broadly the same in this regard because the underlying bones are the same (one month to fully build a character, one on banner 5 star per a patch for welkin holders yadayda). Wuthering waves advantages are better quality of life and more action centric gameplay. The skip button is a tourniquet for bad writing but if for some reason you want to continue on even when you don't care then it is nice to have. As an action game it's okay, there is sufficient complexity to the abilities and mechanics but suffers heavily from timer dominated content. If the timer is the main opponent then I can't consider that good action gameplay because the tempo of actions is secondary to the dps (this seems inherited from genshin).

One last thing I'll point out is that while I like all the half naked ladies, their attractiveness is never actually acknowledged in any way, making the characters weirdly sexless despite being super sexualized. If I encounter someone in real life in a tank top and a miniskirt my first thought would probably be "***** are you for real?". I don't know, if you want sexy ladies just play modded skyrim or koikatsu, there you can do more than look.

Yes. Cartethyia scales with HP, so that 100 ATK from the 3 cost echo is useless.
The aero echo set give 40% aero dmg iirc, which is more than enough, so you don't need 3 costs with aero dmg %, and it's better to use two 4 costs for higher crit stats.
Also, the 1 costs have HP main stat, so having 3 of them is very nice.

Run cartethyia in a team with Sanhua and Aero Rover (when you unlock them).
Shorekeeper is great, and she works in any team, but you should only get the characters that you like. You can use other healers like Verina and Baizhi, they're more than enough for end game content.
