Important thing for score is to know that higher points in a single skill is worth more. 1000 speed/500 stamina is worth more points than 800 speed/700 stamina even though they add to the same. The other big thing is the advanced skills that are gold colored (not the square icon proc skills but the whole box with description) are worth tons. Finally you get more points for skills that match your aptitudes. If you have an A in Mile and Pace Chaser, any skill that has (Mile) or (Pace Chaser) at the end will give you more than just generic Homestretch Haste, Straightaway acceleration, etc.
