All you guys begging for Honey to come back for a new fighting game are forgetting something.

Sega is actually reviving Virtua Fighter. If VF6 actually sells, you know damn well they're gonna look at their other old fighting IPs. Fighting Vipers is the most obvious one to bring back next.

They're not going to let Sonic Team use Honey the Cat if they have any plans at all to revive FV. They'll want the original human Honey for that series. Remember, Honey the Cat only exists because they ported the FV character into the engine as a test. It's literally the same character.

Sega would absolutely shelve a Sonic character to avoid "brand confusion" with one of their other IPs, especially one they're trying to make relevant again. So yeah, she would end up off-limits indefinitely.

Idw needs to show the characters doing more game-like stuff in general. It's the real reason early IDW actually wasn't terrible. Issue 1-12 is genuinely enjoyable. The first annual as well with exception of the Silver and Blaze story. There used to be an abundance of robots and action elements, something genuinely changed about IDW after Metal Virus

My theory is that Ian was used to writing for Archie which was populated with hundreds of OCs. Ignoring the context they were created in.

The original set of SatAM OCs were created based on what little they had to work with. Then the rest were created because Ken Penders loves copying Superman beat for beat.
Ian came into Archie in the mid 2000s. During the time when Archie was a freakish hybrid of the adventure era, a teen drama, and satam. To Ian, this is what Sonic is.

Tangle and Whisper are gamepilled for obvious reasons. Surge and Kit are gamepilled too. They have elemental powers and could fit in with the game cast because they're brightly colored. Surge is based on Ashura and Kit and Starline are based on palette glitches too. Starline had the Warp Topaz which I'm positive was inspired by the Phantom Ruby. The rest of the OCs lack game inspiration though.

Reminder, the original editor wanted to dump everything and start fresh when Penders left, but Ian fought to keep the preboot world and agreed to just get rid of only some of the OCs. Ian wanted this because he preferred the OCshit and world that was drastically different from the games. I say the earlier issues are more like the games because everyone does their thing and utilizes their game abilities, there's less talking and more action and although Eggman was out of commission, Neo Metal being the center villain still felt like the games. Eggman's robots are everywhere. And even after that arc, we get to see areas still have random Eggman bots running around that the cast take care of. There's none of this after Metal Virus is over. Just shitty Clutch, Belle going uuuuuuu my dad left me, Starline raping Surge and Kit, Lanolin being a bitch and Tangle being "manipulative" to Whisper, Whisper crying every arc after getting her ass beat. There is a stark difference between what early IDW did with the characters versus what came after Metal Virus

I think you just misinterpret the purpose of the comic. It's not a Forces sequel, it just takes place after Forces. There's a difference. A sequel would deliberately take elements and characters from the game prior to make a new story with similar element. So more classic sonic, the avatar, bringing back the phantom ruby, etc. The comic on the other hand isn't going out of its way to do that, it's more like continuation of base forces. The in between of what happened before you get to a sequel. Infinite's dead, Eggman was missing so they're just doing cleanup and then there are other things they have to deal with.
