Obviously some manuals were worse than others. At its best, Western stories were merely condensed versions of the Japanese versions (actually most of them, and sometimes to its benefit to keep things simpler); other times, they're irreconcilable (Chaotix and Tails Adventures, and Sonic 2 to a lesser extent).
The official translations from Sonic Adventure to Sonic and the Black Knight got things mostly right. You'll definitely want a fan-translation for Colors (Wii) on, since the Japanese versions feel more like the polished final scripts while the English versions are like rough drafts in comparison.

Varying degrees of windness. Most (really all) are AU, so take with a grain of salt. Archie is where you go if you want to see westerners spill their spaghetti and continuously fight over the direction of their little corner of the franchise in real time.

Same CoroCoro guy who did the Shadow manga, Jet Black Hedgehog. Yuki Imada. Both are getting official English releases later, which I'll support because the mtl/al-slop groups that are invading the modern fantranslation circuit is cancer.
FYI, there's a sort of 'culture war' going on between mangafags and IDWfags. Mangafags are praising this as the most in-character Sonic has felt in years (I agree). IDWfags are decrying it as a lite version of Sonic X (also true). I think they're both just insecurely vying for comic supremacy since IDW's on life support but it being a western company means they have more of a chance to trojan-horse their headcanons.
Well whatever's going on, I think Imada really gets the 2000's vibe and he's making the people who grew up with that decade feel like they're kids again.

The Joker thought he was an embodiment of chaos.

But then he met Sonic the Hedgehog.

This is hilarious and I miss Amy sperging out like this. She's so sanitized and boring now.
Sonic characters are much better when all of them are mentally ill.

I thought Sonic was the wind? Is Tails the wind in this season? The cosmic wind?

The Shogakukan characters are next since, allegedly, Ian wanted to get them in IDW to appease the wind-gods.

nta but Sonic X was clearly not the game continuity. You even see flashbacks of how Sonic met Tails, and it's totally different, with Tails being a freak who painted Sonic's airplane but Sonic be being a chill wind that day.

Topics I discuss with any frequency on /sthg/ are associated with me and others who discuss those topics are attacked by the schizohive as a result.

What would happen if I started shilling narratives I secretly hate?
