You are thinking by car racing logic. Living things can't maintain their top speeds for long periods of time like machines can. In foot races, you save all your stamina till the very end and then give it everything you have, and then once you cross the finish line you fall to the fucking ground because you are empty.

Thus most of the acceleration starts at the late race. The speeds the Umas are going at at the late race are significantly higher than the early and mid, while the total amount of time spent, is significantly shorter. Thus acceleration is extremely important.

Rolling a natural 3* on their banner gives you 90 pieces, so you need 410 assuming you roll no duplicates.
Accounting for the discounted pieces (250 statues for the first 100 pieces), you need 310 pieces at 5 statues per piece.
That is 250 + 1550 statues, or 1800 statues total.
