The pacing is abysmal.
You see the heir relay race and then you get a pretty epic cutscene...only followed for 90 minutes of Hysilens backstory and Lygus' going "THE CAVEEE" and "we will meet to fight".
By the time you DO get to punch Lygus most of the tension is gone and you wasted 90 minutes.
Not to mention that by the next cycle the Hysilens and Cerydra you met in this patch will be gone since you rolled the cycle (again), sure they'll retain their core backstory and personality but they won't know you, and most assuredly the patch is going to place heavy focus on how Evernight also helped save Amphoreus (before Cyrene powercreeps that and becomes the only and most important character in Amphoreus).
The writing is ok to mediocre but the pacing is terrible and there's way too much filler, the patch with the least amount of filler is like Phainon's and EVEN THEN you have to play house with him in Aedes Elysae for a bit, granted, that part serves to ground normalcy and displays the original cycle but still.
Shaoji needs an editor.

Okay, got the max rank in Currency Wars. Final Ascension seemed pretty rough, I don't know if I was doing something wrong but Castorice team seemed to not scale enough at the very high ranks. Herta team seemed too fragile. Seele team was surprisingly good, but I never got the stuff to attempt it on the very last, I managed to clear with Acheron debuff team plowing through the 2nd plane, and then sandbagging the final plane and dying to the last boss and completing with the cheat-death 1 life.

We need an entire patch in Edo Star where we just disappear and we're with Madam Herta somewhere worshipping her feet

Why didn't the "heirs" just extrapolate themselves out of the dullest franchise in the history of video game franchises? Seriously each episode following the trailblazer and his pals from the Astral Express as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Dawei vetoed the idea of Xiao Luohao directing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody. Just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for their other games. The Honkai series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Star Wars series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

The writing is dreadful; the script was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "trailblazed."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Shaoji's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Honkai: Star Rail by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Honkai: Star Rail at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Honkai: Star Rail" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Replying to this pasta, but I had a similar gripe with this version, and I think 3.1 which had a similar structure.
Back then, we were right at the climax of the fight and they had us take a long detour before the final phase; and the epilogue of that version was way too long.
It was also considered one of the better updates, but it never sat right with me.
It happened this time too, but I think people weren't told to think it was good this time around.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the story is bad. But the storytelling leaves a lot to be desired.
The epilogue dragged on a lot longer than that previous version too, but this time it was a bit more emotionally flat.

That said, I'm still rolling for Cyrene. Though I'll wait until the 11th.
