Heretic + Hexen. Going through everything in third difficulty without any enhancements, except for Enhanced Levels in Hexen because I want to jump between classes. I remember 4-5 episodes of Heretic being a bit of a slug, but they were actually kind of fun this time around. Maybe due to lower difficulty, I don't know.
Faith Renewed was okay, I guess. Too much ammo everywhere and it didn't feel like there was as much emphasis on items as there could've been. No idea why they thought that secret map was a good idea though.

Wolfenstein 3D really is pretty fun, but the expansiona don't really add anything to the gameplay, so after episode 3, there's nothing really new, bosses are tweaks of other bosses.

Some still enjoy that, though I would warn explicitly against the FormGen expansions to Spear Of Destiny (yes, expansions to an expansion), called Return To Danger. They are designed just fucking awfully, anti-fun.

Instead of telling you to just fuck off, I'll give you some feedback. The fact that you are actually declaring that using custom enemies is not allowed, makes me think you have no idea how dehacked and compiling a wad file works. It should be clear as a day that nobody uses custom enemies, if leader doesn't include them in his resource wads. What comes to textures, you as a leader should provide the texture pack instead of telling people to use what they want. How do I even know you have the skills to compile textures from different sources into one wad without having to fix the visuals of most of maps. Thus I have not any will to participate in this. Also this is just too memey idea, and doesn't seem interesting neither from mapping nor gameplay perspective. So nice try, but no.

I have few ideas for Doom projects myself, but lack the time to lead so they have to wait. Next year if someone (with real idea) does not do it.

I just finished Legacy of Rust and man, what an expansion, I expected something on the level of NRFTL or Sigil after the first deceptively short and easy level but it really ramps up the difficulty and complexity with the second map and rarely gets easier, I would say it's even harder than Plutonia. I played it on HMP since I'm not a very seasoned Doom player and it was still a real pain in the ass, I pretty much forced myself to find as many secrets as possible and use the guide when necessary because finding certain weapons early and power ups really helps a lot. The new enemies and weapons were interesting, especially the calamity blade which can wipe large hordes faster than the BFG. The flamethrower is ok, it takes too long to kill most enemies though.

I tried to save only after a combat encounter but there were still lots of unpredictable moments with monster closets or teleporting. My biggest problem with the game was that while levels were well designed, the expansion didn't really feel cohesive and the difficulty was also unbalanced with some maps being fairly manageable and then another throws 200-300 enemies at you, it just gets overwhelming and I basically had to take a break after almost every level, not even TNT got this exhausting. I can't imagine being masochistic enough to pistol start those levels.

And then there are the final 2 levels which get completely ridiculous and throw endless amounts of enemies at you including multiple arch villes in one room, plus the final boss being multiple mini cyber demons.

Still a pretty solid expansion, I was just not prepared what I was getting into

Not affiliated with the megaman guy or the guy who made the latest version which added a row of wads, but the real reason you should feel less inclined to continue is because every version of your graphic you presented so far is complete and utter shit.
But because we have some autismos who get hard seething at anybody who would add the megaman wad, they will actually prefer an actual photo of dogshit to any infographic that has megaman which is why a couple of them gave you a positive feedback.

I'm trying to open the original Quake map source files that John Romero released and re-render them with much more detailed lighting + radiosity and other general improvements made to BSP mapping in 30 years.
However, when opening the Quake map in Trenchbroom, textures don't show up. Even when I put all the Quake textures into the explicit texture directory (even made sure they are all upper case like in the map file) they still show up blank despite displaying the exact material required by name (picrel)
I thought texture replacer would work, but it doesn't detect not-found textures as applied, so I would have to click and swap every face manually, so fuck that

Any advice?

Also I'm pretty sure Dumptruck did a video on opening the Romero maps as part of his tutorials, so it might be a good idea to check that.

The reason why I put up "no custom enemies" as a rule, is because many of the projects I mapped for, have custom enemies. So if they use those wads as resources, then they're going to have at least one custom monster in there. I feel like it's an important distinction to make, because not everybody is a geek who knows about the limits of Dehacked.
I know how to compile different textures from various resources, I've done it with the DBPs that I led, and Lazarevenant ( https://doomuniverse.com/assets/uploads/files/1667494523526-lazarevenant_map01-12-31.zip ) where I used 4 different DBP themes in one wad.

I had a dream about Iron Maidens. There were three, identical standing with me in a rectangular metal room with recessed lighting and an unreachable door double my height above me. They would turn their head to observe me, but otherwise just repeated more or less their idle animation from the game.
They were less bloody and had more 'normal' faces compared to how they look in-game. Many of their metal plates are removeable by first pressing in two or more thumb-width mechanisms that feel like they're on springs before sliding the whole thing outwards. Stuff on the rocket arm and legs are bolted on however.
They smell like a mix of grass dew, and that weird scent you get inside your nose with a sinus infection. It's oddly pleasant despite how the latter part sounds.
Their breasts and buttocks feel like actual jello, but firm up significantly for a bit after squeezing. They have unopening yet weirdly expanding lips for nipples that suckle at anything touching them. These are not particularly human lips however, and the lower half is basically split in half with a crease in the middle.
A reservoir of non-Newtonian fluid exists in their crotch crevice - which isn't me trying to make it sound funny because it is completely featureless. This fluid inexplicably allows entry of my left arm but becomes completely solid for anything else. The inside is not only empty, but seemly endless with me being able to get elbow deep, turn my forearm 90 degrees, and not touch (let alone exit) the front of the torso.
This was horrifying to say the least, so I spent the rest of the dream getting freaky with the upper halves of these ladies, who didn't have much of a reaction. Unfortunately I was strangely less immense than usual in this dreamland, so I don't blame them.
Suddenly the one furthest from me exploded into what can only be described as raspberry jam. The one I was having fun with at the time (I named her Miss Titties) looked at me and screamed.
Then I woke up. : (

For continuity sake, I'm not against the boom format. 2048 guns use MBF frames up to 1075, which should only pose problem for dos boom or some few of dozen obsolete ports. PrBoom+ 2.5.1.4 treats them fine on boom complevel, same with dos mbf.

Those textures exist within q2test, if you were planning on recreating them. They're also in the KEX remaster along with some even older stuff. The gladiator I think is the only one that's lost to time.

Releasing mods individually is a little odd since they are already on the internet, BUT maybe a random fella or gal that's never heard of Ashes will see it while browsing GOG and say "hey, that looks neat." I think a better idea would be a pipeline wad. Where you pass off a map after various stages.
One person does the grey box, basic monster placement and gameplay concepts. Next world on theme, and textures and tweaks gameplay. Last person finalizes it, and finishes detailing.
But that would be like herding cats. Some cunt would make sweeping changes not understanding what their role was.

Have you tried playing Doom 3 Phobos? It was an ass to set up on modern systems, even if you followed the instructions, because Doom 3 isn't really made to be played on win10/11 with modern gpus. When it didn't crash or just suddendly give a black screen, I still needed to play it with 640x480 res with fucked up ui to even get it to run. GoG version never had these problems. It ran perfectly, bug free. Didn't have to try to fix it myself. It's a blessing to have a company that fixes older mods for free, but yet you /v/tards need to have a reason to be contrarian about everything. Also GoG's fixes have nothing to do with Nightdive, you are just autistically turning this discussion about your obsession again.

SCT took approach of pop culture slew while you went on with your own thing by straying away from its web 2.0 advertisement billboards, that's my impression. Taking cues from Emerald City too maybe? Definitely not something you could easily find the clear inspiration roots from.

I used this knife trick to beat that secret level in Episode 4 of Wolf 3D, the one with 100+ Spions. In the original DOS version, you could position yourself in such a way that they would stay in a harmless running animation around the corner, but you could still stab each one. Eventually, there'd be so many corpses on screen that each new enemy would go invisible, but you'd still be stabbing them, only knowing you got the last one when you didn't hear NEIN SO WAS anymore.

Some do, but I never found it all that interesting considering there's no way to silently kill them via a backstab. Enemies do take more damage from behind though, so I guess you can preserve a shot or two here and there. What I find more interesting is how some enemies can be alerted via a gunshot throughout a room, while others will stay on guard and only get aggressive when BJ enters their line of sight. It sort of acts as a primitive version of traps, making for more interesting enemy encounters rather than just firing a shot into every room and letting the AI come to you.

For real. What's also interesting is how BJ takes more damage from behind as well, so the player needs to keep his head on a swivel and listen for any enemy callouts or doors opening around them so as not to be caught off guard. It's a very twitchy experience where every enemy is a glass cannon in the same way BJ is.

It's why every Duke3D port used Icculus/JFBuild as a starting point because nobody (until recently) hates themselves to go back to Ken's original Watcom code.
Compare to Doom, which is far easier to port, even from the original Linux Doom sources.
A good example of Ken's bad code practices is dorotatesprite()
https://github.com/videogamepreservation/dukenukem3d/blob/master/SRC/ENGINE.C#L6547
Now compare to R_DrawSprite() from Doom

Never heard of her before and I looked into her for a bit.
She sounds 100% female to me in the clips I can find. There is no way this would be a man, and not just because of the tone of her voice, everything about how she talks and sounds comes off as entirely female to me, fakes could NEVER.

She is not a very famous or high profile vtuber at all, actually, she has less than 500 subscribers on YouTube, and her vids/streams rarely break 100, with her most popular having less than 300 views.
A little better on Twitch, where she has about 1000 subscribers, and average about 200 to 300 views per stream. Semi-regular mentions on /vt/ going by the archives (usually in a thread about retrogaming vtubers), but mostly for the past year, while she's been streaming for a few years longer. Polish, apparently.

She's outspoken about loving Hexen, and tends to play a lot of old games in general. The author of that level is obviously a fan, and might just be an anon posting occasionally about her on /vt/ (maybe here too, but I don't remember any mention until now). The shoutout in the new Hexen release is probably the most exposure she has ever gotten, but it might also fly over people's heads, since it doesn't overtly make it clear she's a vtuber or anything.

No idea if she's any entertaining or not, haven't sat down to watch any of her content for any duration.

A lot of Doom mappers have their heads so far up their own asses playing and making saw-trap slaughter maps and masturbating over their custom textures and hyper-detailed architecture that they've forgotten what actual good game play feels like. Most normal people think that their cheap traps just feel like a slap to face coming to them through their computer screen for daring to attempt to have fun playing a game.
