It works with the intuitive mind that can recognize and link synesthesic patterns between symbols and reality. EX: a pread of tarot, through it symbols makes the reader to focus on a series of patterns that are present on the inquirer, those patterns can actually be seen without the need of tools if the diviner has high intuition (in the same way yoguis or mystic can tell stuff by looking at people)

So, it's complicated and if you wanna dedicate time to her, you have to prepare for an emorional rollercoaster. She feels a deep sense of attraction to you (I almost wanna say love), and she also sees you as a savior type of figure.

Very divisive. You seem difficult to them but also worth it. That said, its not with some frankly horrible history - namely and probably speaking of a precise event, like you two were close to be together but there was a fumble, an impasse before that not only gives them the perception that you are difficult, but makes them look back with uncertainty. All of this together makes them passive and cold. They dont have a negative opinion of you per-se, but they are actively avoiding developing feelings. There's some nostalgia but conscious apprehension and disharmony.

In other words, they feel like you two aren't on the same page. Like pursuing you brings disharmony in their life so they choose to be neutral towards you. Just fyi, college is expensive in America because they wanted to lock out black people. Our biological tendency towards tribalism makes us forget the facts and that we should actually work towards being equal and making a good world for everyone, but you can't say this without getting labeled some type of "-ist" or "-ism". People always make up shit to make themselves feel better about injustice, such as the fact black people were better off and happier under slave ownership.
