Experiences shape our expectations and expectations (often) dictate our feelings. Say, when someone wants to off themselves because their "one big love" left them, you have to wonder, why didnt they want to off themselves before they met them? Or maybe they were already vulnerable and only needed a big enough stressor, rhen was losing the love really the issue?.

I am by no means saying that you shouldn't have ambitions or that things aren't fucked up. I am however saying that "disappointment" often comes from a one dimensional rationale. You might feel like you are going nowhere and that you'll never be content because what you have worked for didnt pan out the way you wanted to be - but is there really a "price" for happiness? A goalpost so to speak? If so, really ask yourself who dictates the goal or puts the price to it.

In life you'll meet the most humble and impoverished people being static by a case of beer or a game night with their friends, if anything suicide is mostly rich people's disease. I think you need some counseling and time for real introspection, If I may be so bold to suggest. Its very likely that you are unaware of the root of the issue.

I am taking you had a massive fallout in the past? They mostly seem to feel defeated, abandoned. This leads to them trying to guard themselves from you even if its more of a "Fox and the grapes" type of deal i think.
