Is there any reason besides cost and size in a bag to get a Dremel style, low wattage rotary tool over a Foredom style flex shaft grinder? And then is there any reason to get one of those over a die grinder type tool with a flex shaft added?

It seems you can the light, dexterous precision tool with more power and flexibility going this way, but what am I missing?

Asbestos /diy/
I'm considering buying a vintage car (Citroen 11 bl)

But it recently occurred to me that most vintage vehicles were built in an era where asbestos was commonly used.
I wasn't able to find any official or non official information about the extent of asbestos use in this car but it's fair to assume that at least the breaks and clutch were made out of it.

How can i know which part is asbestos? how can i safely (if possible) remove it and replace it to be able to drive it daily without risk?

Electricians drink a lot of cheap beer /diy/
Scrappy here again and I have found a gold mine, but with a hitch. Behind an electrical contractor's building there are some dumpsters that always contain beer cans and copper wires. Copper wires can get good money, especially the bare ones. But there is a homeless male living in a tent here and he says that all of it is his and he threatened to cut me. I told one of the electricians and he said that the cops won't do anything. This situation is intolerable because the dumpsters are often full when the hauler arrives, so the bum actually collects nothing. What can I throw into his tent to neutralize him while I collect?

Why are battery main switches made of steel and not copper or brass? In this picture, those are just washers, not contact pads. You're supposed to screw your cable terminal between the two nuts, so the bolt itself is the conductor.

My Advanced Realistic Humanoid Robots Project - #6 /diy/
Last Threads: https://warosu.org/diy/?task=search2&search_username=artbyrobot

To begin: the project goal: I am working to make a series of humanoid robots. I am using a Biblical theme of naming the first 3 robots I make Adam, Eve, and Abel. The goal is for these robots to have human body inspired musculoskeletal systems, advanced AI, and that they look human and pass for human to a casual observer at least at a distance. They must be able to walk, talk, run, dance, do sports, do chores, manufacture products, and make more robots just like themselves if not even better. My aim is to build a single robot arm and head and then add sufficiently advanced AI to that arm and head to enable it to build the rest of its own body for me. This way I am delegating the work of building the majority of my first humanoid robot to that robot rather than doing that work myself - and this is to save me time.

In a like manner, my goal with the AI is to code just enough AI that the AI can begin coding itself and this way I don't have to code most of the AI myself because it will self create itself. I liken this to building a seed and that seed growing into a tree because for me to code that tree would take too long for me and just creating the seed would then save me time.

How to remove annoying af door pin? /diy/
Background (can skip): My door has developed an issue on rubbing against the frame, which is especially becoming problematic as the force required to open it is starting to pop the handle out of its socket. I recently discovered what typically creates this fault is misaligned hinges creating a larger gap at the top of the door frame (between the hinges) compared to the bottom, and upon examing this door, that seemed to be the case. So I have to remove the hinge and then realign the hinges, however:

Problem: I can't for the life of me get this pin out the hinge. I initially tried to tap it out using a punch and hammer from the bottom up, however after closer inspection, and getting nowhere, it seems like the pin may have been inserted upside-down, as the bottom of the pin appears to be wider than the top. I then tried tapping it out the other way, but also nothing. I've also tried spraying it down with half a bottle of WD-40 to try loosen things up, as well as using pliers; also nothing.

Any ideas? Will I just have the take the hinges off completely and get it out that way?

I want to build a small home on my family land. A bedroom, kitchenette and living/diningg room, bath and maybe an office space. Just something to give me a bit more privacy and room from my mother.

Would it be cheaper to buy a kit (something like pic rel which would run me about 45k) or get a plan from somewhere and buy the material from a local home goods shop as I go? I have 10k I could pay in cash right now the rest I'd need to finance.

Rethinking my cooling situation /diy/
Hello all,

I am getting myself an Arctic III Liquid Freezer Pro AIO CPU cooler and it is leading me to rethink my fan configuration in my Phantex P600s case.

I intend to place the radiator on the top as exhaust and use the 3 120mm fans that come with it.

Looking at the back fan, do you think I should use it as an intake for closer CPU airflow, or as an exhaust for drawing the front intakes through the components? Figured I'd ask.

(Currently, I own x3 140 fans and x3 120 fans.)

It still existed - and upto this day, and I just learned that you can remove paint/old shit from your walls by applying toothpaste and perfume along with soap onto the affected area, and rubbing it with a great intensity with four fingers. Just thought this would be useful in case anybody encountered my issue. I'm a fucking adult today, and I wouldn't want anybody walking into the room and reacting to it like what'd happened to me. I am building a bathroom in my cuckshed and I want to insulate it. However, there's no room to insulate in between the block wall (goes 3 feet up) and the pipes running to and from the hot water heater. If I insulate on the inside of the pipes, I am concerned that they could freeze on an extremely cold night because they wouldn't be getting much warmth from the inside because the insulation would be in the way. If I don't insulate near the pipes at all I know for a fact they would never freeze, because they'd get so much warmth from the bathroom (it has a register in it) but I'd lose a lot of my heat. What's the best solution?

I live alone in a quaint 1bd1ba, never get visitors and just eat at my desk/coffee table so I turned the dining room into a little office. My current furniture set is particle board slab shit I got for free from a closing business over a decade ago. I really like its basic design, but it's a bit too damaged and stained for now and I really want to try a built-in enclosure for my next PC upgrade. The planned corner set wouldn't be flush against the walls, so airflow shouldn't be an issue. My question is, is the built-in enclosure a shit idea even if I don't mind squeezing under the desk to install and dust it? Should I just do a shelf with ample space for an ATX case? I know DIY Perks did something similar with some gay floating desk, but I hate the horizontal entire-desktop-as-a-case design.

Suggestions for my incomplete dogshit design welcome.

my work threw out a "labconco 30 inch fumehood". they were rennovating and it was going in the dumpster and i figured i could use it for soldering, or putting my 3d printer in, or sandblasting.

well that was about a year and a half ago and it's just been sitting in my garage.
the problem is i don't have a benchtop to mount it to. it's 30"x30"x48". which conveniently fits perfectly through normal doors.
however if i put a normal sized table under it, it'll no longer fit through doors, which are like 80" tall.
I want to keep the footprint able to fit through a door.

So, my plan is to make some sort of short table with wheels on it that I can jack up when it's where I want it to stay.
I've got 3 ideas for how to do this and I'm hoping you guys could sanity check me on these.

I am at my wits end. I have a GE GTW460ASJ washing machine that will not stop failing a wash cycle due to an imbalanced load
I replaced the suspension rods, I made sure its level, I took it apart and inspected all components, belts, pump, vacuum line, etc.
I ran the diag, only shows unbalanced load error. everything else seems to be working.
It does not have a balance weight, but it will always go out of balance and end the wash cycle. I cant wash more than a few items of laundry at a time. Even if I place all the items in carefully and manually spin the drum to ensure its not wobbling, it will still go out of balance during the wash.
It usually ends up wrangling and knotting my cloths during the wash creating lobs of wet balled up clothing that causes it to go out of balance.
I have reviewed all available parts on this washer and dont see anything else that could be replaced or serviced.
What else could this be?

I so I made something with wood (fake fireplace for electric insert) and painted it but it looks VERY blotchy. Its a mixture of 2x4 lumber and some thin beach wood sheets. I am using black semi-gloss which I now think is a mistake and I should have used flat black since the surface was only very lightly sanded.

is there a paint for wood that works best to cover all the imperfections? I shocked the sheets looks so bad because they are smooth, but it is as if they were treated with something chemically. The crown molding i used looks great of course, smooth prepped surface already.

Also this is a latex paint. Valsar

Long time listener, first time caller here; I am in the process of relocating my hot water heater. It's a 1920s house with crawl space and all copper piping. In my picture, I have taken a length of 3/4" copper pipe and annealed it along about 18" and have used a conduit bender to no success here. As you can see, it has been a bit flattened on the radius. My thinking is that having a gradual radius vs a 90 degree fitting will alleviate any water hammering on the corner of a 90 degree fitting, therefore lengthening the life of my new pipe. Thoughts? Is this completely retarded of an idea? Nothing has been installed yet and I want to make sure this pipe lasts.

DIY Reviving Old Tech /diy/
Absolutely NOT a "tech guy". 45y/o tradeworker, left off at DOS & Qbasic in '93. Found some 2016 tech during eviction remodel: 2016 Galaxy Tab-A and 2016 HP Stream 11. Do not be fooled; all the "tekkie lingo", specs and processes I will be citing are new to me, learned over the course of these projects. I knew absolutely fuck-all about it before I started.

SM-T580 tablet has 2gb ram. when found, it was running Android Oreo. slow as shit and no storage space for anything. I could surf the web and shitpost on Chan, but had no space for memes, Pepes and/or videos. did lots of research and relied on Grok for a fair amount of process. that said, NOTHING was easy aboot this... for me. I found the tablet and craptop last December. tablet has been in a bedside table since it had
no storage and was too slow to be of practical use. I will try to outline the entire 2 day ordeal (15 fucking hours) as succinct and condensed as possible.

I found a 32GB micro SDHC card while tearing oot the carpet & padding in a remodel. my first thought was "COOL! I can double the eMMC storage on my Linux Stream Craptop!" however, after a quick discussion with Grok, I decided my first use of it would be to flash a new OS onto the Samsung Tablet. did a little research into available OS options and learned aboot the basic hardware/software that operates little phones, tablets, etc. quite different from "regular" computers, it turns oot. Decided on "LineageOS" for what is essentially a clone of Android 13 but with full current patch and security support. I found the Lineage file on some website, perhaps Github, unsure exactly where. I was also told that I needed to I stall "MindTheGapps" to access Google app store and run anything other than basic web browser on it. I started my questionable journey at 8:00 Saturday morning. I wrote the aforementioned files onto SD then connected tablet to craptop via USB data cable, which I used to install something called TWRP by "TeamWin".

Complex Assembly Knowhow /diy/
What type of engineering degree do I need to be able to put together this chair? I spent hours on it and the digarms show the same screws with a check mark or x to use or not use. Whats up with that?
