Photography is dead thanks to digital cameras and the internet. The era before internet and fully mechanical film slr's was the golden age of photography. The digital age is by far the worst age to live in. We have to go back to an analog world.

What do you do with your photos
I enjoy the process of photographing quite a bit, I enjoy editing, I enjoy every stage of the photographic process. However, at the end of it all, I am left with a bunch of nice, edited photos, and they just sit unseen on my hard drive forever. I want to film a Timelapse of a plane trail, contrail, chemtrail, whatever it may be. Just to show that they are turning clear sunny days, into a haze. Not quite overcast but a light haze enough to cover the entire sky.
I have witnessed trails starting small; as you would see coming from the plane, and slowly grow and grow. They don’t disappear; just getting wider and wider until it all blends into one big hazy sky.
I’m going to assume wide angle is the best lens.
As for location is the top of mountain going to be my best bet?

Summer of getting shit done edition

All video related questions and discussion is intended for this thread. Here we discuss techniques, gear and anything else related to capturing video footage. Please don't pretend to be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly leave your ego at the door.
Posting short films/scripts or other work you've done is encouraged.
We tend to use and recommend DSLRs/mirrorless cameras because they provide phenomenal picture quality for their price, have large sensors (ie the same size used in high-end cinema cameras and higher) and have interchangeable lenses.
In contrast, consumer camcorders often have much smaller sensors and a fixed lens.

Quick FAQS
>what’s the best camera available on a “budget”?
The blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k, or the Panasonic gh5 (can pick one up for like 500 bucks atm)
>what’s a good beginner video camera?
Anything that works, shoots at least 1080p and preferably has interchangeable lenses. Any recommendation beyond that will cause arguments so read the fucking sticky if that isn't satisfactory.
>What's a good sound solution that won't break the bank?
Zoom h1
>Can I use a zoom lens for video?
Yes
>Do I need cine lenses?
No
>Do I need 4k?
No. 1080 looks great on a cinema screen. 4k looks better.
>Can someone tell me if my video is any good?
Yes, but be prepared to receive harsh criticism. If you're going to waste 5 minutes of our time with a shitty out-of-focus montage of nothing then we'll tell you that it's crap
>Is it okay to dox myself?
...Personally I wouldn't but what do I know?

Have you ever gotten a strong emotional response after viewing a specific phot, like you would in a movie ? Or maybe going to an exhibition or reading a book ? Or is photography just "pretty cool" at best ?

Even though polaroids are the biggest instant format available, they are still tiny. Only shoot subjects that fill almost the entire frame and where detail is not fundamental (e.g. a single, well framed object or a portrait)

Anyway, you have a gen 3 polaroid which even has manual controls...

the reason water condenses out of the air is when it comes in contact with something that brings the temperature below the dew point
a camera component heating ambient air up won't make condensation on other parts at ambient temperature, because that a...

Any love for the Game Boy Camera and printer here?
Sure nowadays even the chinkest of cameras and printers may be better with printing via phone bigger and clearer photos but there's a certain charm and fun in doing with with a Game Boy of all things.

Yes. Portra VC was fantastic stuff. Just enough saturation and contrast to make for a good multipurpose film, while still retaining excellent and flattering skin tones.
>>4461519
How does it compares to current Potra?
>>4465903
Somewhat higher contrast and saturation. Perhaps slightly more grain, but not by much at all. That's about it.

You need to reduce the amount of images and create more variety. Novelty of the film is not enough, you need novelty of subject too(which you already to some extent you do need more variety). Take inspo from your favorite scifi novels, painting etc.

Kodachrome Look
Been digging around online trying to figure out how to get that K64 look (big, punchy, saturated, picrel), but found basically nothing. Everyone either goes for K25 or just completely misses the saturation.

Not trying to do a perfect emulation or anything, I just want those insane saturated skin tones and deep blues, but every time I try, the edit falls apart. Feels like Lr/Ps just can’t push it far enough, like the digital files don’t have the room. Which makes no sense, since I’ve got a gallery full of scanned film that pulls it off.

Anyone here actually manage to get close? Or is it just a lost cause with digital?

Anyway, dumping a few Shorpy rips.

>That price hike and still no felt seals on the lens
>>4465722
I bought my griiix the day the griv was announced after seeing the price and the fact they didn't improve anything worthwhile on it.
>>4465751
New sensor, new lens, new processor, 5- instead of 3 axis stabilization, new hybrid AF, new screen, more internal memory, better sealing on lens, smaller size, larger battery.

That's an upgrade in my book.
A tilt screen wouldn't have hurt through.

M43 being a poorfag/cheapskate system isn't a secret.
Ok, I promise to not complain about OM Workspace for at least a month. Today I learned that apparently Fujifags have to process images in-camera (and with the exact camera that shot the raw) if they want to get Fuji's own color science.

What is the rarest piece of glass you own?
Picrel is not mine, but a Pentax SMC-M 35mm F1.4 that nobody has ever been able to document in the wild, but one forum posts alludes to someone holding one at one point and packaging being sold on ebay 2 decades ago. My rarest lens is probably the Fuji EBC-W Fujinon-W 35mm f1.9, nothing spectacular in terms of value, but hard to find.

Technically not a lens on its own but it would be my 2.8E3 with only ~2000 units made, the Xenotar is pretty standard fare though. The least common interchangeable lens I own would either be the Zuiko 85/2, 180/2.8, or 500/8.
