Any decent horror story is more about atmosphere and tension which is what is actually scary, blood, gore, and monsters should be reserved and used as little as possible because if you show them too much the viewer gets used to it and it just becomes an edgy unscary gorefest.

Also the woman in 3 would appeal to a lot of people based on the nerdy librarian archetype. If they wanted to make a point they'd show a fat smelly sheboon which is what the modern dev calls "normal people". But it still doesn't make them brave because it will be praised by the people on Reddit who they spend most of their time with.
