My only advice is to practice basics and build from there. They added like 4 new combat systems on top of the base combat system from Remake, so it has a pretty high skill ceiling this time around.
Just like older games with certain late/post-game fights you have to pay attention to how you build out materia, and enemy phases and stuff. Rebirth also has a lot of emphasis on materia combinations compared to the first game, so the more you get and the more you experiment with the more broken you become.
This is basically a non-answer but there's so much depth to the combat system that I would practically be writing out a guide to explain everything.
You can look up "Yuffie ATB Cheese" for a cheat code build if you ever need it. Aerith and Tifa are also super broken to use with the right setups.
Darkside Cloud is safer and easier to use, but a bit risky. He'll still shit on anything though.
Barret is mostly there to be a stagger machine or full blown tank support/atb battery...
It's a lot man. My hard mode run required every neuron in my brain firing at max output to beat.

You need some software to do it too.
If your paranoid you can also buy an empty game case of the game you copied so if the good goyim (police) somehow find out and come to your door (they won't and they never will nobody gives a fuck) you can say you owned the video game before an made digital copies of it but lost the physical disc.
Which is completely legal to do btw - you can make digital versions of any physical game you've ever purchased - even current gen ones - so long as you keep your copy on your own personal computer and you don't distribute it anywhere.
