>While growing up, his mother had encouraged him to learn piano, but he struggled with music theory. He has said that he was good with rhythm and enjoyed playing the djembe, but did not listen to music for fun until the age of 15

Your dad and yourself are probably just built different to me then. Clearly your dad was still successful in life if he was able to get married and have you etc. I escaped into that lifestyle as a cope because I felt powerless to be normal and find success in traditional avenues and my life was a joke anyway. The only thing I don't regret is actually working on tons of music, playing at raves and some of the sweet people I met and used to hang with in those days. But it's not real life, it's a fantasy world

>don't believe you
Don't believe me then, hater
>Next job you'll find isn't going to be better
Can you say that with certainty?
Even if I ultimately flounder therein too, at least I'll hopefully make some cash in the interim, which is the whole point of a job
I mean what else do you realistically expect me to do?
Anyway I could potentially make 1k from selling drugs next week at least

My personal gripe with big beat desu is that imo it too quickly evaporated and became commercialised, and lost the gritty essence and magic that made the early sample-heavy, distorted experimental tracks so tantalising. I'm sure there's still an underground scene for it but it's difficult to find good fresh releases, probably in part due to the difficulty of clearing the samples. Techno (ignoring modern business techno shite) due to being more minimal and abstract seemingly has managed to retain more of a cohesive scene and artistic integrity, amongst the big players and countless smaller artists still putting out inventive and jacking productions.
Just my personal take, but I will never disregard big beat's importance and influence in the progression of electronic music as a whole, particularly the transition from early hardcore into drum and bass and punk electronica.

Jeff Mills and Robert Hood are effectively the godfathers of the second wave of techno; these records effectively introduced a new genre of music that stepped away from hardcore rave that was becoming quite cheesy

In terms of video game music I recommend this album which is just straight Detroit techno

Besides Fat of the Land (and the imo very underrated Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned) by Prodigy, I recommend The Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust and Dig Your Own Hole, The Crystal Method - Vegas, and Propellerheads - Decksandrumsandrockandroll
In terms of The Prodigy, personally I think Experience, Jilted and AONO are Liam's best work, everything else is kind of commercial and watered down
