The Knight put their sword to Kris's neck and forced them to kneel. It was not a gesture of honor, it was submission. More respectfully and peaceably than Susie and Ralsei getting the shit knocked out of them, but the result is the same.
Unless you have a very different idea about the kind of man and parent that Asgore is, it is not something that he would do to his child. Asgore is not The Knight for this and many, many other reasons.

>Again I must emphasize that monsters do not care about what a monster looks like.
You're making this assumption based on the extremely idealistic happy ending of Undertale
If Alphys didn't think people would have a problem with their loved ones being melted into Amalgamates she wouldn't fucking kill herself rather than come forward with the truth in most endings
>why the secrecy?
Whatever solution there is to Dess's problem it obviously involves the Dark World, and the Dark World is a secret to everybody for the very good reason that if people used it maliciously or irresponsibly it could easily cause the end of the world.
The conspiracy is following The Prophecy, where everyone involved has a role to play. Susie and Ralsei don't need to know what's going on to fulfill their role, and if they knew it would probably create problems. Remember that Carol is a control freak and hostile to outsiders getting involved in her shit.
Also remember that YOU are a key player here, and everyone who knows about YOU (besides Kris) seems intent on not breaking the illusion that YOU are Kris and you're just the hero who seals the fountains. Both Carol and Ralsei want to maintain kayfabe and have YOU keep playing along with their game, because if you lose interest and abandon the world, everyone dies.
>why the violence? why is the Knight okay with seriously harming Susie and Ralsei
They're not seriously harmed, she just knocks them out.
>and risking starting the Roaring?
There's no risk of that. It won't happen until the Prophecy says it will, and considering how effective the Black Shard alone is The Knight probably could have killed the Titan it summoned with ease using its Black Knife.
>why the consistent emphasis on her being "lost" if she is no way lost
"Lost" has like a dozen meanings and it's an apt description just on the basis of her getting lost in the forest and going into the Shelter
>Again I must emphasize that monsters do not care about what a monster looks like.

>like what's so special about Noelle that she basically created a cosmic horror just by fucking with a video game
I think the thing people are ignoring is how fucking corruptive the prophecy is. Like, any media even slightly influenced by the prophecy seems to manifest anomalies; Dragon Blazers is an adaptation of an adaptation of an adaptation of the prophecy and Noelle still managed to find her way to the mystery door that she's supposed to be the designated guide to. Cat Petterz is only tangentially related to it because the RPG spinoff was a Dragon Blazers knockoff and that STILL somehow bled over into her game.
Literally any media with Prophecy influence ends up carrying over anomalies from it, both in the Light and Dark World; there's things we STILL don't know about the prophecy, like the "angel's call/tail of hell" section, or the Roots section, and I'd be willing to bet that the Egg rooms are some unknown section of the prophecy infecting the Dark Worlds in some mysterious way too. The prophecy is distinctly immutable, but it's also clearly vague enough to allow for wiggle room within its confines.

If Dess's Soul is using Kris's body... then the Roaring Knight is... Kris. Using Dess's body.

I think Dess joining Kris's party before the end of the game actually seems pretty likely
The question is if (You) will still be part of it

The Dark World manifested a mythic image of what Kris must do to slay fate, it's hard to be free, he is not a master of his own kingdom all of this is a memory of this. You must remember the game is not orderly.
