I think one of the most depressing things I've discovered about this franchise is how effective simply running past most enemies really is

It was roughly around this point of the anime where I realized while listening to the overly bombastic soundtrack that was intentionally trying to drown out everything around it to create a sense of insincere grandness that this anime and perhaps most others like it were not developed for quality or proper narrative engagement. No, as the the scene and episode closed out all I could think to myself was not the scale and impact of the story but rather that somewhere someone was already editing together a youtube video of them "REACTING" to the scene in question like a highly strung zoo animal. And that's all this and the current trend of anime is. Reaction bait. And I detest it.

>think this might be something biting
>It's just someone whinging about gay because clearly you're owed millions of studio dollars.
You know what, this is my fault.

>1995 movie
+visuals
+music/sfx
+story
-voice acting is DRY
Don't bother with the 2.0 version, just adds unnecessary digital effects
>GITS 2 Innocence
Pretentious head-up-own-ass storytelling. Visually interesting but you'll be yawning before the end and likely thinking '..what?'
>Stand Alone Complex
A wonderful early 2000s anime, the tachikoma's can be annoying (their voices can be grating), but otherwise a good time.
>SAC 2nd Gig
Literally just a second season of SAC, still good. If you enjoyed SAC, you should enjoy most episodes of this.
>Solid State Society
A movie follow-up to SAC, not as enjoyable but may as well watch it if you enjoyed the seasons of SAC.

Pretty much everything else can be skipped. Just know ahead of time that a lot of the themes of the show, especially the "what does it mean to be human in the cyber age" are well-trodden territory. Don't expect a 30 year old anime movie to blow your mind.

I swear to fuck this is my biggest issue with this whole goddamn series. There's absolutely no emotion beyond muted surprise from anyone. Every single character reacts to anything or speaks to everyone as if they're making elevator talk. I don't want outright comical over reactions and Tex Avert esqye wild takes but for fuck's sake emote a little. Only the elf is supposed to be autistic.

No. And I very much any anime has changed your life or the lives of anyone who says so. What I think happens to you and everyone like you is that you see something, react like an overly emotional child. go online and say it changed your outlook on things but you never actually DO anything to show it. You like how it feels to say you changed to get people to pat you on the head for it but you're still the same boring, worthless, dead end pud you were to start with. You want to change? Go fucking outside. Fuck you.

i don't get it, why even bother with branch worlds instead of a true harem which the girls were ready to accept? so in the ending where he marries yae, the other two lose and so forth? this is pretty much a solo girl ending in route form. marrying all three isn't even bad since the girls aren't blood related
