well there were people who tracked cults in that one province that was in the middle of the roman empire at the time in question and they never heard of the guy. tons of foot traffic moved through the area engaging in trade, commerce, holy pilgrimmages and for many other reasons, and there was no 'word on the street', no one had ever heard of the guy. it says the temple had like a curtain, and when jesus was sacrificed it cracked. there was something like 200,000 pilgrims in the city for passover, and not a single one of them mentioned it. something like that happening would have caused a great disturbance and general unrest, yet no one passing through made any mention of anything out of the ordinary happening, nor did the romans themselves, nor did the jews. you ever read jewish records about their temple? they kept almost nazi levels of detail. every dimension was recorded and accounted for, every inch of it was monitored. yet no mention.
thats just one example. the same is true for a thousand others, all with the same phenomenon. youd think god being born and being slain and resurrecting would be front page news (yes, they had those, the acta diurna), but alas, no. the syballine oracles passed information from rome to jerusalem in 3 days.. god incarnate being on earth for 33 years in the middle of the roman empire during one of the most well documented periods of history, though? half a century.
