Not really. It depends on what you're looking for really. Any path's shortcomings can be made up for with equipment and planning.

When you think about it, a Sequence 6 Artisan is basically a better version of a Sequence 5 Shepherd.

Shepherd:
>Sequence 5, not 6, requires more effort and time to attain
>has to kill someone to graze their soul, can only get stronger through murder (high chance to get yourself killed)
>can only graze 7 souls at once
>only gains 3 powers from each soul
>has to switch between souls to change powerset, cant use them all at once + only passive powers from actively grazed souls work
>grazed powers are weaker than normal ones
>grazed souls gradually dissipate, so you dont even have permanent access to those powers
Artisan:
>Sequence 6, easier to attain
>can make artifacts from full characteristics or even just the main ingredient of a potion, can get stronger through trade and exploration in addition to murder (less chance to get killed)
>there is no limit to how many sealed artifacts you can have at once, only your tolerance to their drawbacks (which can be mitigated or outright negated)
>sealed artifacts can have way more than 3 powers (Lie has 6, for example)
>no need to switch between items to access their powers, you can have passive abilities from many pathways active at once
>sealed artifacts suffer no loss in power, being artisan-made might even make them more powerful than the same abilities from a beyonder
>sealed artifacts do not dissipate over time, you can have them forever

There is a clear winner here.
