When it comes to criticizing and critiquing someone's planning and time management skills I often try to give the person I'm critiquing the benefit of the doubt as much as I can because there's no way I could truly know what that person's day to day life is actually like but I mean really...REALLY think on this for just a little bit.
Evan is head writer for the comic and has internal papers and dialogue with SOA and even SOJ since she's on the lore team. She draws often enough on the official channels that one could excuse a bit of neglect with the story side of things so long as they're passible, it doesn't take much forethought or effort to outline a coherent story. Evan had months to plan this out, just like how Ian had months to touch up on what's going on the comic or at least asking the other staff members what was the plan or if there was any.
Neither of these people used any of that time to actually formulate a coherent plot that would fit well into a bigger story. Ian effectively just wrote over several people to close a plot thread he wanted to be done with already. Evan is literally just making shit up as she is writing things near their deadline. I highly doubt that SOJ would wait until the absolute last minute to flag something as obvious and severely OOC as Shadow literally risking an innocent bystander's life just so he can look cool in a few panels, so I'm going to go off a limb here and say that it wasn't because SOJ got back to them at an inconvenient time and it was probably moreso because these idiots waited until the absolute last fucking moment to turn in their story and artwork to be approved which is what lead to the horrible redrawing of some of the scenes.
What I'm essentially claiming here at this point is that these people are literally doing absolutely fucking nothing, not even putting in the bare minimum effort and there are multiple signs and evidence that point to this and if such is the case then at this point IDW should use AI.
