Don't forget all the censorship enforced by west-facing platform holders following neoliberal progressive ideology, starting with Sony in 2018 and now Nintendo from 2023. For fuck's sake, Kanon's western version on Switch had to have fucking KISSING removed. And that was ONLY for the western version too, you can't blame China for any of it. It is very clear that the west and its associated regime is persecuting Japanese anime and games far, far more than China at this point. Note that none of these are even porn games, you can't even point to porn or "obscenity" laws for this, they're doing this entirely out of ideological behavior.

Xenoblade 2 was made in 2017. Nintendo has objectively become more censorious since. Xenoblade 3 had most of the hallmarks of "global standards" screening, Xenoblade X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions on Switch were censored globally despite the backlash to the initial censored releases, they blackwashed several characters in the Another Code remakes and troonwashed Vivian in the Paper Mario TTYD remaster. On top of that, they have been targeting third-party games with content similar to Xenoblade 2 for censorship or bans since late 2023. None of the games in this image would have been censored or banned if they had released before 2023. Nintendo has objectively become more censorious and pozzed as a whole in the years since Xenoblade 2's release and people are right to be worried about a potential remaster or even update patch.

They were, and now there's basically nothing left. Just look at how Tokyo Clanpool (a pre-2020 D-rated ecchi game, not even among the most risque offerings from Compile Heart) got banned or censored by THREE different storefronts and the publisher basically gave up on ecchi games despite being one of the staunchest advocates for fanservice in the industry. Sony's still on their faggotry despite looking good next to Nintendo now, Microsoft are even worse than both of them, and Steam just gets worse by the year. This shit with the payment processors getting blowback for using "muh brand" as an excuse to censor content they don't like needs to be extended to the major video game storefronts as well. It needs to be made illegal for platforms with a certain amount of marketshare to ban games for "brand/reputation"-related reasons and additional restrictions placed on how much they can scrutinize games with a valid rating. Because God the ESRB, PEGI, CERO, etc. look mighty pointless now if everyone is just doing their own screening anyway.

Next time, take anything a Famitsufag says with a grain of salt or two. Almost all of this is just in the last year, by the way.

Nintendo jumped on the anti-anime girl fanservice bandwagon. Note that they still let furry AIshit and Cyberpunk with on-screen dicks uncensored on their system, so it is once again targeted strictly at Japanese otaku-style media. The anti-"brand protection" laws that are being proposed against payment processors need to be extended to major storefronts as well. Because the whole problem is that Nintendo, Sony, Valve, etc. have ZERO accountability to developers despite controlling nearly the entire market share for video games. They can just pull the rug on you any time they wish if they don't like you or your content, and there is currently nothing you can do about it. That needs to change.

>There's those occasional "ecchi musou games" like Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive that would probably do well in the current environment
The current environment won't even allow them to exist. The same policies that killed Senran Kagura on Sony consoles are in place almost everywhere now.

So what's the likelihood this shit going on with Nintendo is at least partially motivated by the VISA/Mastercard/payment processor situation?

Nintendo's new content (censorship) guidelines are now official.

>Many of the new guidelines discuss “sensitive content,” and include specific rules for what qualifies as sensitive content in the first place. Listed criteria that “would be considered damaging to the Nintendo brand” include sexualization of children, overly sexual content, discrimination and hate, exploitation of social issues (“Content that clearly exploits a topical and controversial social issue, tragedy, or catastrophic event”), instructing criminal activity, and political statements (“Content that overtly supports or criticizes real-life countries, organizations, or ideologies”).

Because they agree with it, in fact, they're probably the ones giving the orders themselves. Notice how all of the blocked/censored games are in all regions outside of Asia. They're also pushing restrictions in Asia/Japan as well. I will be surprised if any of the original Switch-exclusive content from >>714977032 makes it in this version, as Nintendo no longer allows anything that Sony doesn't, anywhere. At the very least, the original had touching mechanics where you could poke the girls, and in the Switch version, their breasts. That's 99% going to be axed from this version, at least on Switch. We have no less than four cases from last year where such mechanics were censored or removed from similar games.

This game, Prison Princess Trapped Allure, was only released on Switch in Japan, by the way. Every platform has become ultra-hostile to these 2010s otakucore games. Even GOG. As another posted said, this will be a true test for Dragami. Tokyo Clanpool got fucked by every platform it tried to release on and I'm half-expecting this to get the same treatment. I am almost certain this is going to be banned from Steam at the very least (they banned a censored version of Tokyo Clanpool). I don't know why Dragami is even bothering with them.
