I also don't think people realize how the healing and tank changes are going to shake out - by nerfing Emma they're just changing the shield meta from Emma/Mag to Strange/Mag and increasing healing means shield meta is gonna be even more unbreakable.

Thing's change is a nerf. Mark my words. It makes it harder to E to teammates in order to get your DR and give them DR and it's not going to do shit against fliers unless they're completely braindead.

Edge in media was a trend that began with the success of Watchmen in the late 80's. Comics were stagnant and losing popularity and Watchmen did gangbusters. Rather than look at this and say "wow, comics can be really well-written self-contained stories with strong themes and symbolism and moral ambiguity and people actually like those things," comic execs said "WOW THIS IS DARK AND VIOLENT LETS DO THAT"
And so they did.

What started as a trend in comics in the late 80's and early 90's (pic related) then expanded into a whole smorgasbord of "teen-targeted" media, with the prevailing thought being the best way to get boys to buy your shit was to add guns, blood, and titties.

It's a combination of many factors:
1) Ross is a terrible spokesperson that is incapable of speaking clearly and concisely and also lacks the technical knowledge to engage with concerns, legitimate or otherwise
2) Ross' audience is tiny and mostly based in the US and he did little to no outreach to actual EU personalities
3) The petition itself and the myriad overlong "explanations" were far too broad in scope which undermined the ultimate goals and turned people off
4) Nobody gives a fuck about the Crew or other Ubislop
5) Ross/Asmongold's retarded tween fanbase made it their job to make everything associated with SKG as toxic and obnoxious as humanly possible
