I have a bad idea for an UT fangame for the first soul: patience.
Gameplaywise, you do not do the traditional Undertale shit of danmaku dodging enemy bullets and instead it's all traditional JRPG shit, as in actually making Undertale PLAY like actual earthbound (down to having hp count down if you get hit rather than instantly lose your health points after taking damage, and the countdown varies from slow to fast) but it has SMT's press turn system (including 4's smirk) and party recruitment because it also has mario & luigi styled dodging instead of mini shmup so if you have the right party member, you can grab the HOOMAN and jump over a shockwave just to appease the unwritten rule about ''everything UT/DR should allow No-hit runs", but you can just ignore this and go for unga bunga debuffing so you can TANK shit as lv1
Storywise, since its the first soul, it's practically set in a time the underground is not in a happy place cause Asgore jobbed and now monsterkind is locked into a cave and shit's splintered between chaotic fucks who want to usurp asgore, the loyal dudes privileged to live in new home enforcing what little law and order in this dire time and everyone inbetween that just wants to make the most out of their sad and dire situation like being a humble corn farmer.
But cause its a human story that's not frisk, it means the ending is (you) dying, but there are post-mortem outcomes like uniting monsterkind cause you are too much of an asshole to remind everyone that yeah, humans are still assholes but also having a soul in possession = the barrier could be broken (thus begins Alphys' DT project). Or your death causes a riot that either usurps Asgore's flop of a government or makes the big guy reconsider if this soul collecting shit is worth it in the long run if it means sacking humans who are actually kind to monsterkind, or you genoslide all over monsterkind and escape that dump with your cherrypicked harem of monster girls
