So far, I’ve seen people complain about:
1. Emil when discussing the main quest… even though Emil didn’t even write the damn MQ.
2. the main quest being open-ended, philosophical, which somehow makes it “shit”.
3. character models, and when they’re asked for an example, they cherrypick the same damn 2023 civilian npc pics.
4. the side quests being… shit? they never elaborate on this point, so I know they never played the game.
5. companions being bitchy when they’re playing like total psychopaths.
What annoys me so much about these literally baseless complaints is that *I* played Starfield, and *I* have a better grasp on the game’s actual problems than the snot-nosed juveniles repeating the same shit they heard over and over again while refusing to listen to any contradictory views. I fucking know what its actual core problems are, and it sure as shit is not ANY of the things these smoothbrained morons have in mind.
Nothing short of a Cyberpunk makeover will ever cleanse people’s minds of the 8-hour video essay brainrot they consume to this day, but I somehow doubt that will alleviate anything, and I totally doubt Bethesda has the capacity or interest to invest this much into salvaging Starfield’s reputation.

This doesn't surprise me at all. What Itsuno wants Dragons Dogma to be and what players want Dragons Dogma to be are clearly totally different.
Most players wanted DD2 to expand on the combat elements with more vocations and enemies, since that's what the DMC team is arguably best at. Itsuno however cares about the pawns and exploration, he wants to make games where you go on a "journey" with limited fast travel, somewhat similar to Death Stranding. I don't think he succeed, but that's clearly his intention. He could have easily made something more combat focused if he wanted but he didn't. Honestly he just seems sick of making typical combat games going by V in DMC5 and the Trickster vocation in DD2. Which makes me a bit worried about his new game.
