also this map is disingenuous. there should at least be a dotted line between russia and finland. Finland was never part of the russia. But the russian empire/the tsar himself.

>it doesn't work this way
That's exactly how it works. The status quo was agreed upon in the Tartu peace treaty in 1920 and relations formalized.
>a proof to that is also when during WW2 USSR completely demolished finish army
as I said, untrue. the soviet offensive in 1944 was stopped. At the time of the armistice, Finland actually had a manpower advantage in Karelia. Used as leverage. Finland wasn't beaten. The Soviets COULD have done it no doubt. But it would have cost them more for no reason.
>for some reason fucked off from that base deep inside Finland in the 1950s where they were legally allowed to stay for 50 years
It was expensive for the soviets to maintain and supply it, and coastal artillery (the main reason for the base) was outdated tech. +The soviets were attempting rapprochement with the international community after stalins death. so it was a way to show their sincerity.

Nationalism was not a thing in the 1700s. Some nobles had such ideas and conspired with the russians, but not because they wanted independence per se but they wanted more power for themselves (for the nobility)
