Like I know Nintendo has had to deal with this problem cause they know Miyamoto and Sakurai and Tezuka are getting fucking up there in age and have made strides relatively recently to give the big games to relatively newer faces, but what the fuck does Sony have to address this issue? The original Ragnarok online understood the pointlessness of skill-rotation gameplay just 1 year after WoW. If you want to auto-attack you auto-attack, if you want to use a spell you're gonna burn some of your mana because you deem it meaningful.

I wouldn't say I've outgrown them, but I'm kinda tired of games these days. I feel like I've already played everything that appealed to me. 99% of new games don't interest me anymore.
Maybe games are just shit now. Maybe I've become jaded. Maybe I really did "outgrow" them. The fact that a lot of games are badly optimized and increasingly expensive doesn't help either.

I respectfully disagree. Not only do I dislike the sluggish survival elements of the game (which are totally deprecated now in 2025), but the story was also very milquetoast. MGS1 was a perfectly written Tom Clancy political espionage ripe for sequels, MGS2 was a revolution in video game narratives, MGS4 was like a grand party for all the major characters in the series to reunite in the style of KOF '98's "Dream Match", MGSV's story was like a Fight Club mindfuck which, though unfinished, had a shit ton of potential and is still narratively talked about to this day.
By comparison to all that 3's story was a saturday morning cartoon. Nothing that happens in 3 is interesting, the villains are two dimensional at best and the supporting characters are painfully boring to listen to. I think the best part of that entire game is Ocelot because if he wasn't in it to keep things interesting, the entire plot would have put me to sleep.
