As in all the stuff that was added in aos, none of the leftover units from vampire counts ? Should be doable yeah, lot of them are great units. Ush, morbheg knights, beastflayers are very much staples. Picrel is a tourney winning list, so if it works for competitive you can definitely make it work in casual games.

4e is fun to play and just because you don't have ooga Boogaloo summons and shit ass NPE rules where you can gotcha people, it's the most fun it's been. Not GW fault you can't understand the traits that buff one unit type is meant to bolster that to make them better and usable than just spamming the other actually better units. I swear you faggots don't play or think before putting your retardation in the air. 2e sucked ass because summoning, 3e sucked ass because magic meta and manifestation/krondspire, 4e only sucks in that some warscrolls are a little more streamlined but the battleplans both narrative and GHB are better than ever and terrain rules that don't fucking suck like 40slop is another bonus.
Battle tactics alone prevent you from spamming dryads you actual cro-magnons

4e is fun and the core rules are the most solid AoS has ever had. But there is something to look into when people start dreading their armyโs battletome. These books should feel like expansion packs to your base game considering the price paid, but instead they feel like patches with balancing and minimal actual new content. Why are there only 4 subfactions, 3 spells, 3 Artefacts, and 3 hero traits for each book? Whereโs the expansion? Even with the premise of โless choices means you get better quality choicesโ, heaven forbid you use the one option that ends up actually being good, youโll soon get punished for doing so in a balance update. Sure, the SoG stuff is a step in the right direction but they should be permanent additions, not seasonal.

No it didn't you're just a pussy who can't play his toy soldiers without it. And list building isn't pre-made. You idiots lose on two fronts here. If you play narrative, you can play literally whatever you want it shouldn't matter. And competitively, many top armies have a good core unit (like any army in any wargame) they bring a good amount of, then bring a mixed force army. The exception being the fucked up khorne hero spam and the skaven one.
>>96325872
I wish we had more artifacts and traits. I also played in 2e with malign and how fucking insane having 36 options and 7 spell lores. There is a middle ground but people are such belly acher babies saying it's slop and unplayable. We also haven't had big expansive tomes since 2e so this isn't exactly new. Not that I enjoy it either but if people would actually go and play their army in the current rules with their new tomes, they might be less fluffy than last edition but they play just as good.

There have been so many times Iโve made a list I want to run that isnโt spam or anything gimmicky and I canโt finish it off the way I want without drastically changing it because of a combination of listbuilding restrictions and points. Thanks! Yeah, itโs one of each hero(Lotann wasnโt painted at the time) and a few of each unit. Unfortunately with how listbuilding and our new book are now, they donโt work well with how I chose to collect my army. Iโve got a good mixed arms collection, but the truly functional army builds lean into specialization and unit spam. Aside from painting the same unit over and over, I donโt like collecting more than 3 of a functional unit in case GW ever brings down the hammer of rule of 3 or spamming a certain unit becomes impossible. The current favorite is the shark subfaction but with that being a seasonal rule, Iโm wary of even getting one more.

In general, are ogors fun in spearhead and sigmar proper ? What do they play like ? And are they harder or easier to paint, compared to the average faction?

Me and a buddy were discussing the new Khorne tome after we played a game with both of us using Khorne armies (the only unit we shared across our armies was a slaughterpriest, I was mortal-focused and he was daemon-focused) and when we discussed what we thought was the optimal army, literally the only unit we even considered repeating were bloodletters, but only as a "fuck, need a little more points, drop the blood warriors down to a second brick of bloodletters" kinda thing. The internal balance of the Khorne book feels pretty amazing, almost every unit in there has a role and feels worth considering, and you can definitely build a very good 2k army without repeating a single warscroll.

>Those worshippers of โGood King Gnawโ are not yet an organised cult. Most are independent traitors and renegades; after all, paranoia is kin to desperation. None bear the god's mark, since, for all the cruelties he inflicts on Skaven, he still favours them above all other beings. A rare few have been โblessedโ with warty proto-tails or sharpened incisors, but this seems more an act of passing whim than any true gift. Still, they have proved useful. Shamans and wizards thus corrupted direct their followers to excavate troves of glowing warpstone to offer Skaven warlords, heedless of the cost. Priests shift their orating along more desolate lines, subtly encouraging congregations to render cities fractured and ripe for consumption. The Shyishan city of Glymmsforge has been particularly afflicted. Here, folk belief in the trickster-god of cats lingers and is held to lend protection. King Gnaw's faithful hunt such believers and string their gnashed bones from bridges and spires, spreading hopelessness and weakening Glymmsforge's arcane defences.
>Never before has the Great Horned Rat's shadow stretched so far. His claws rake the realms, his eyes shimmering with malice as he schemes to achieve sole primacy. It is said that all the Dark Gods have their antithetical entity โ yet what could challenge such rampant corruption and dissolution, except tyranny of the most pitiless, black-hearted kind?

We know that (crone) Hellebron exists in AoS, and that she's something a rival to Morathi within the DoK according to Black Library stuff.
When is she going to get a model and more fluff? Seems like a perfect character to pair up with Krethusa in order to expand the Morathi loathing DoK sub-faction.

As anon said, we've got more stuff coming this Edition so don't commit to 2,000 points of stuff now when we may be getting Arch Knights and Cog Forts when you're less than halfway through painting.
Buy a Spearhead or army box(there are four good choices for CoS still available right now), work on that, when you get close to done buy another and work on that. That way you won't get overwhelmed and you won't be caught neck deep in Steelhelms when the whole meta changes in a few months

The Battletome.
Generally speaking, in AoS the best lore is still in the Battletomes, not the novels. There's a lot of fun flavorful tidbits there, while most of the novels tend to be rather dull, in my experience at least
AFAIK there's only two novels that have touched on post refresh lore; Lioness of the Parch and On The Shoulders of Giants. Lioness I'd describe as fine. I haven't read Giants yet.

Note that many of the cities started out as planned megaprojects with an urban sprawl radiating outwards from some strategically significant point of interest, like a realmgate and/or a stormkeep. You can see that in the oldest districts of Hammerhal Aqsha, in the straight lines around the Stormrift gate, or in the much smaller city of Anvilgard here.

Same with Greywater Fastness here. We don't really have any insight into the logistics of how the scratch-built cities were constructed, but as was established through the Dawnbringer fluff in 3e, the Azyrites like to set the foundations using prefab buildings they bring with them. So you could extrapolate that most Azyrite colonial settlements will start off looking more or less the exact same down to the masonry.

Greywaterโs funny because it was originally intended to be a Venice-like canal city, until they discovered it was built on top of a giant realmstone deposit and then pivoted immediately into max industrialism to exploit it. The cityโs sewers are mostly just old canal systems from the original days, repurposed and built on top of.
>>96331574
Since greywater only has the one road in or out, canโt build anything around it, and is constantly under siege, their diet is also unique in most of it being imported. Most meat is dried or preserved in some way, with fresh stuff (from animals brought in live to be slaughtered there) being a delicacy for the wealthy. They have fancy greenhouses that grow food, mostly tended to by wanderers, but thatโs just supplementary to their supplies rather than being anywhere near self sufficient. Most cities of sigmar are reliant on rando settlements outside their walls, or within their sphere of influence, to supply them all their food, but greywater is the one most reliant on getting it brought in from somewhere else completely.

can you read? I was talking about the heads, a total of 19 heads for 10 bodies is perfectly fine, the problem is that they waste most of those bits on unhelmeted variants instead of cool stuff like fully enclosed helmets
say for example you had 9 normal helmeted heads with an open face, 9 helmeted heads with an enclosed face, and one head for the priest, with the champion being designated by a crest you can glue on top of any of the helmets
that's enough heads to mix up to have variegated units, or go all in on one type or the other to give the unit a rookie or elite feeling
as for the weapons, I definitely think they should have had polearms too, yeah

pretty sure the current rules writing team is actually like 3 or 4 people. the guys they had in the edition introduction videos last year were the whole crew apart from extremely part time playtesters they brought on for a few weeks who played a total of around 2-4 games per army.
>about to be shuttered
i dont think its anywhere near being shuttered, they've introduced a ton of new army ranges and updates so far this year, wolfgitz, big skeleton refresh, new deepkin and kharadron, and now chaos dwarfs.
for whatever reason the rules team just keeps it very minimal and i dont personally care for the direction of the rules that actually do make it into the books as well.

I like and appreciate these types of names. Too many battle force names (mostly in 40K) have really lame names. I get that there are only so many possibilities for a non-canon bunch of models that only serve to clear GW stock and reel in fomo spender. However the problem is their naming philosophy.
In 40K, the recent khornate battleforce was called โgorestorm slaughter packโ or something which sounds lame compared to the character of the recent BoK regiment of renown, โthe red revelationโ
Idk but โthe red revelationโ and โfounding forayโ sound cooler than โblood-X kill-y forceโ
>the red revelation
Sounds religious and spiritual, which is what khornates believe they practice when theyโre mindlessly fighting
>founding foray
Gives the dudes in your box a story, like their an expedition force or treading bravely into the wilds to reclaim land
>scarlet jury
Kind of a cute joke. You got the judge, jury, and executioner in one box. The parody-like sculpts are the icing on the cake
Is this just some autistic fixation on my part or do other anons pay attention to the names and subtle linguistics behind the names of these boxes?

Seen as something of a battle-sage, he leads disciples โ known as the Red Revelation โ across the realms in search of conflict. Zarxor may even join armies in thrall to other Chaos powers for a time, for it is his belief that every breed of battle is bu another incarnated aspect of Khorne and that all must be experienced if one is to truly discern the god's essence โ to spy his real face and to know a form of twisted, raging peace. Vampires can usually assume a glamourous beautiful form or a monstrous one. Which one is their natural or "base" form is usually up to the setting. Warhammer is a little weird because most vampires we see, other than those of naturally ugly bloodlines like the Necrarchs and Strigoi, are at least somewhat attractive. Mannfred and Neferata look pretty good, but someone like Vlad doesn't care about his appearance and allows himself to be a little monstrous.

>the way GW will inevitably cut the sprue means you will have a hell of a time even fitting it
What sort of schizo tangent are we going to go on now.
Bunch of fluff about
>HIGH FALCONER FELGRYN is a creature of divided reputation. To the serfs, he is something of a folk hero: a cheerful rogue who protects the wilds of their kingdoms with his loyal menagerie. To many abhorrant nobles, he is a gluttonous menace, given to ransacking their pantries and falling into gory indulgences that even his hosts find off-putting. Both viewpoints have merit, for Felgryn is a cunning and savage beast โ and he revels in this fact.
>Felgryn came to New Summercourt from the distant steppes of Ghur. Though sired by the grand court of Gristlegore, he had little time for their strange philosophy of seeking oneness with their realm's monstrous soul. Instead, he simply wished to enjoy the Summerking's radiance and famed hospitality. Attempts to bar his passage at the fortress's gates failed when the vampire voiced a shrieking โsongโ and a flock of leather-winged monsters descended to rip apart the guards.
>Felgryn possesses a particular bond with those wild beasts sent mad by Ushoran's curse, especially those of a bat-like nature. How he gained this ability is a mystery, for Felgryn tells a different tale each time; he variously claims to have been blessed under a witching moon, to have found some relic of Morbheg's and to have been transfigured after taking a bite out of a Terrorgheist. Regardless, one snarl from him drives a court's beasts into a frothing mania.
>>96333019
>Felgryn's giddy raucousness at the feast quickly ingratiated him to Ushoran, who granted him the title of High Falconer. He made his lair amongst New Summercourt's dizzying eyries, the floors covered with the mangled bodies of doves he โpreenedโ. Felgryn's duties are many, among them sending bat-winged messengers to Ushoran's vassals, staking trespassers to trees and participating in the Royal Hunt. Felgryn and his โbirdsโ are adept at rooting out prey and driving them into the claws of his Beastflayer understudies. Most favoured of his flock is the โfalconโ Grype, whose screeches act as a beacon to other hunters. Felgryn lavishes attention upon Grype, feeding him gobbets of mortal flesh and lovingly smearing him with gore. That the original Grype died long ago does not faze the vampire; in his delusion, he has transferred his affections to several other beasts since, each time claiming his faithful companion has returned from a long flight.
>In this Hour of Ruin, Ushoran has charged Felgryn with a vital duty: to range ahead of the Red Errantry hosts and harry the vermin infesting the domains of the Mortarch's banner-lords from the undergrowth. Felgryn was backed for this task by Grand Justice Gormayne, who praised his talent in ferreting out skulkers โ his disdain for the crass falconer surely played no part. To be far from his king's kitchens infuriates Felgryn, but he means to see the task done. After all, there is something to be said for โliving off the landโ.
>>96333022
>THE ROGUESโ GALLERY
>โI have no desire to speak overmuch of High Falconer Felgryn.
>Bah, but we are bless'd with a fair coterie of rogues. Fie that some have come to number amongst the Summerking's innermost circle. We, his closest advisors and the ministers of his realm, make for an eclectic group. I at least can remember the dignity that doth accompany my rank, even if said rank should require that I be draped in a garland of rotting entrails each morn and told that it is an honour. But whilst we may all be beasts at heart, Felgryn and his flatterers embrace that state, even amidst the haze of our shared mania.
>Thou wouldst scarcely believe the accounts I have been regaled with concerning the extravagances in which Felgryn and his toadies gleefully partake. He would have raided our kitchens into sorry destitution had Mistress Griphook, that formidable matriarch and one of His Majesty's dearest companions, not been so severe. When the incident with the Sigmarite interlopers came to pass, the High Falconer was absent on the hunt, and his only response was to bemoan missing such โfine festivitiesโ. Nay, there is nothing of a knight in him.
>Felgryn hath now been sent from our halls to serve as the vanguard of our war โ and such a tragedy that is. Nevertheless, I fear for the example he shall set for new-blooded kin across the land as he inflicts himself upon regional grand courts. A memory of decorum is all we still possess. Should we lose it, then we are truly damned.โ

>GRISLY PAGEANTS
>Much to his annoyance, Felgryn's role demands a degree of โsobrietyโ. Aside from the need to embody the regality of Ushoran's court, covering himself too liberally in blood risks his own flock turning on him. Yet Felgryn is as beastly as any of his menagerie, prone to entering a frenzy as he rips at the meat on his table โ such hungry jocularity is what endears him to the peasantry.
>Felgryn's enthusiasm is infectious, and when the High Falconer imposes himself on some far-flung court, he encourages the hosting of wild festivities to properly honour an envoy of the Summerking. Most abhorrant lords need little persuasion to hold a grand tournament, and should battle beckon, foes might find themselves unwilling participants. Felgryn is not one to sit on the sidelines when these war-games are underway. He competes in every event, from โjousting in the listsโ to marshalling his beasts in savage airborne displays. Courtiers who outdo him earn his fulsome praise โ but they must take caution when roaming the twisted woodlands in the future, lest a swarm of carnivorous bat-beasts suddenly decide to descend upon them.
>THE INVITATION
>On the orders of his master Abraxia, who has brushed with the abhorrant curse before, Lord Xornac the Cruel leads a host from the fortress of Blackpyre to hunt the ghouls spilling across Ghyran. Months later, the Varanguard returns, nailed to his saddle, hands severed, blood streaming from his eyes and mouth. As he babbles about falling victim to an ambush by corpse-eating hunters and suffering the foul โhospitalityโ of some ghoulish falconer, his acolytes extract a vial of kingsblood crudely sewn into his guts. On it is a scrawled note addressed to Abraxia herself: โA place still waits for theeโ.

GW somehow found a way to flanderize chorfs. They thought "hurr durr fuhnny hats : DDDD" and just gave them these weird anvil looking things on their heads that just make the pudgy half-orc faces look worse and fatter.
The old chorfs had big decorative hats that were meant to be flashy. It was like a way to imposing their dominance and esteem over others. They were psuedo-crowns, which fit since chorfs only seek to subjugate, sacrifice, and enslave others.

>good value
it is. It's over or around 1k points.
>good box for a total beginner
I would recommend getting a box of gluttons first if you like ogors. Painting and building a faction's basic tropp/battleline unit is a good way to know how you feel about them cause you WILL be bringing some battleline no matter your army. You can't just avoid it like you can avoid running certain characters or monsters etc. Still, the spearhead is the 2nd best place to start (in my mind) and the 1st best place to start according to everyone else
>looks quite a bit bigger
It's definitely an anomaly. If it was released today it would be missing the cannon or the mournfang rider. Their rules in Spearhead games make them start with some of their units in reserve, coming in later on to keep things balanced IIRC.
>are ogors fun
never played them but they have a lot of fans cause ogors are funny and cheap/easy/simple to play and paint.
>easy to paint
yes. very easy. mix orange+white for their skin, apply a ruddy skin wash over it and ur good. paint the pants 2 colors, the belt and shoes in black. 2 metallics for the weapons and gut plate. grey for the stone clubs, brown for the handles.
beware that the models are very dated. Not bad, but the scale and sculpting definitely look their age. You should look into 3d prints if you can't stomach it. there are loads of Ogor proxies done very well online
>easy to play
>what do they play like
yes. run at the enemy and eat them. your guys do good damage but are deceptively fragile. gluttons are a staple. ironguts are not worth it over gluttons. the Ironblaster cannon is strong. I heard the butcher is very strong too but it's an old resin model that might get nerfed or changed anyway. you will also need gnoblars. some people run the big stonehorns too, don't know much aside from that. they haven't gotten their battletome yet.

>Terrorgheists are not the only behemoths in the prized menageries of the Flesh-eater Courts. In the desolate reaches of the realms, one may stumble into gloomy sprawls dominated by huge skeletons, each picked clean by scavengers. These are the great draconic graveyards. Instead of noble Draconith, whose corpses are coveted and controlled by more traditionally aristocratic vampires, these boneyards are commonly filled with the remains of โlesserโ dragon breeds: spiteful wyverns, moon drakes, the cruel black serpents of Narkath and even such singular bloodlines as the mystic Xangrial wyrms. The abhorrants will readily lay claim to their bones, stirring the skeletons to wakefulness with what they believe to be pure songs of magic. A Zombie Dragon is a fearful proposition in battle, not only for its dagger-like talons and fangs but also for its breath, which is so foetid and foul that it can melt clean through sanctified armour. These undead creatures are considered a hideous desecration by living drakes, and even the Revenant Draconith of the Soulblight dynasties will turn on them with uncanny viciousness.
Undead draconith are somehow violently racist against their fellow undead drakes.

The way the realms were presented in proto editions of AoS always reminded me of Sacrefice. It's a third person strategy, set on floating lands, which were the remnants of the old world destroyed by a powerful wizard. In that game several dieties fought between each other for influence over the lands in the form of souls and followers.
Too bad most of early art in AoS sucked ass. I would've preferred crazy chaotic landscapes over basic bitch dnd maps

Yeah early AoS looked janky. I liked the whole way maps showed floating cities and gave use an understanding of how a realm would look(they need to keep doing this an alot) but it went too high fantasy with it.
Like it's fine if it was like around the edges of the Realm because that shot gets wonky but not every realm should always be "floating mass of land".

The little bug bros, yeah. Quiverlings like those are spites, spirits of Life magic. All the insect buddies in the Sylvaneth army, from those tiny arrow carriers to the giant beetle ridden by Alarielle, are all spites. But that's pigeonholing spites a little since they can look like just about anything, like little pixies or like some straight up elemental force. They have their own Spite Monarch somewhere in Ghyran, he's an ally of Alarielle's.

I don't think living mountains are that "out there" in AoS fluff. In the Realmgate Wars it was said that Ghyran had "jotunbergs" that traveled around the realm to bring winter season to the Jade Kingdoms. And apparently some of the lords of the Sylvaneth glades, though they might have not been literal mountains, were said to possess bodies as large. And of course there's the whole deal with the Lumineth's disciples of the Alarith temple, demonstrating that most if not all mountains in Hysh are metaphysical, intelligent entities, and this was also demonstrated to be the case in Chamon during Broken Realms.
Beastgrave has a lot of company even beyond Ghur.

I think in a case like that the factions should be chosen not just to showcase what's the best out of what's in aos, but also what's unique about aos compared to other settings and what's iconic and exemplary of aos' elements in itself.
and at those jobs trees aren't good at it because they don't really offer that much that's truly new, not too unlike to how lizardmen, on the other hand, while still a very fresh idea, aren't really good representatives of aos as a whole.
plus, you end up needing to round out your selection or representatives so that the representatives themselves aren't to redundant with each other (it wouldn't be a very good choice to select, say, just stormcasts, khorne, ironjaws and ossiarchs. they're almost parallel in certain ways, it would be like showing the same thing with a reskin)
I think idoneth are simply the most ideal selection to represent the elves of aos: you get a loosely familiar hook (atlantis people) with a twist (half soulled), and some cool designs here and there (armors, weapons), they explore the history of the elves in aos (slaanesh) and the tense relations and grey areas that there can be even in the alliance of good guys (soul stealing and memory wipes)

In terms of worldbuilding, the approach to the setting has become a lot more grounded. It's still a very high fantasy world, flowing into the mythological, but we started to see it more and more through the eyes of everyday "normal" people. For example, see the difference in maps put out in the modern day vs examples of """maps""" on launch you can see higher up in the thread. This has its pros and cons (sometimes modern day aos is a bit too mudcore imo).
In terms of minis, you can really see the transition from rank n flank to round skirmish. Lots of the early minis released had a way more rigid look. See early liberators and infamously slayers. There's a reason they primaris'd the stormcast like 6 years after release.
Also the way the game is structured in general, early aos used to center around grand alliances a lot more. Lots of soup 'armies' (you weren't really supposed to play them alone, but the webstore listed several armies like swifthawk agents or whatever with like 3 units). Pestilens, bonesplitterz, beastclaw raiders getting their own battletomes, stuff like that. They consolidated it to the much more standard battletomes we have now.

even if the setting at large has a higher tone, various corners can be somewhat different, exemplary of a mudcore direction is the redesign of the cities of sigmar, where the fluff, art and models quite revel in showing them as the battered, ugly, tired and bruised underdog common man, rather than a more professional and clean fighting force
mudcore is not always misery porn or a derogatory term though, even in the cos case it's not just pity for pity's sake, the common man narrative serves to establish the niche of the faction and to make the battle of these dudes not just one of practical logistics and martial strength, but also one of faith when facing what appear to be impossible odds

>Is aos really noblebright, even in 1st ?
As the only person on the planet who bothered to read the Realmgate series and the attached shorts and novels during that time? No, fuck no.
AoS is a Post-Post Apocalyptic fantasy. Itโs a setting thatโs heavily inured to loss, pain, suffering, and determination. Every single aspect of the setting and its themes are built on a foundation of that. The vast majority of the factions and people of AoS are decidedly determined to live because all of them understand what it is to not have their goals fulfilled and or outright crushed in front of them. Even the new races and cultures and species that are AoS โonlyโ have that included in their ingredients. In AoS you will get the absolute fucking shit kicked out of you but if youโre determined enough, possessed of enough will, and the fortitude to suffer you might be a torso by the end of it but you will have made meaningful progress planting the seeds for the next crop of suffers and strugglers.
Like even the fucking early hedonites of slaanesh were the most blatant example of this and their never ending chase of always having their balls tickled by the phantom pain of slaanesh. But people were too busy jerking each other off about their GW killing slaanesh conspiracies
AoS is not noblebright but itโs not a setting built on existing out of spite in 40kโs case or whatever the fuck WHFB was doing donโt ask me I donโt have flattering opinions on that

Are there any of these 'core region' maps for azyr? Like the great parch, ghurish heartlands, etc. Seen one for every realm but azyr.

Not yet I just hope they donโt turn it into Terra and wait for the siege of Azyr to do that. I hope it gets to exists as a place before that then I might care about whichever dickhead faction gets to loot Sigmar for the 90000000th time this week

nope, azyr is forbidden territory so far
it seems like they're reserving invading into it (and sigmar as a playable model) a major plot point

The breaching of azyr seems like a prime plot point for a new edition, hell who knows maybe we'll see sacrosanct return in 5th. Chorfs built a big fuck off gun and blew a whole in its defenses or something.

It's true. He spends his RGW books reflecting on his past as a hero of Order and then doing what he can to rescue his ancient bro who is now a Stormcast without memories of him
GW scrapped everything Reynolds wrote for him alongside his End Times contemplations of what he might've been, though, because soulless nostalgia for a setting they nuked

>the apocalypse being reverted and civilisation restored with the help of demigod humans
This is just an event. Youโve shriven clear of all context like the numerous confirmed genocided and extinct cultures a couple you get to watch happen or the phryric victories those people won that mirrored the Stormcast in the way that they got what they were looking for but lost so much in the process that they have to completely reinvent themselves or die
>chaos champions being redeemed and purified
Even the most โgood boysโ of the Stormcast hosts on majority despised him or mistrusted him nor does this speak of the immense turmoil the redeemed went through during, before, or after. Itโs never presented as a singularly good thing
>gods resurrected and freed to rejoin their former alliance
Every single god spit on the ground at the idea of even vaguely reforming the pantheon. Allairele has PTSD from the death of like six realms at this point if you include all the WFB lore, Teclis was so ass mad about the his math machines being turned into retard machines that he let sigmar handle the soul wars by himself and the forbidden power and malign sorcery and malign portents up until Nagash was about to win the soul wars decisively even after getting ratfucked.
>mannfred is a good guy
If you read the realmgate books and then the further books and his involvements up until that library story with Balthazar and didnโt take away from it that Mannfred is primarily a lying jackass whoโs lies to himself is what gets him fucked every single time then heโs an even better liar than I though

It just feels way too early. I feel like GW has better things they could be doing. I understand 40k and WFBโs appeal with the 1 million plot lines and their consequences but I appreciate the comparative focus of AoS even if it makes the rest of the setting feel bare if that makes sense

Yeah who knows we'll see. I guess when the end of the edition narrative stuff drops we'll get some hints about the major events of 5th. If the pattern holds it'll be death related, but admittedly we don't have a lot to go off of.

Tbh I think the nh tome broke me. I'm not even a fan of nighthaunt that much but in the back of my mind I was hoping this was all just a terrible experiment or that they had made a mistake and were working on making the game better, that they were going to add more enhancements, some fun mechanic creep, maybe slowly start to put in more creative ways to reduce damage in the game.
Nah, they like the over-by-turn-2 slop fest. Let's jam more ward stripping into the game. That enhancement that looks half decent? Fuck it, 40 points. Now you should take the boring ones instead of us having to introduce new ideas. That faction with unique mechanics? Fuck thattttttttt, gotta keep the battle traits to 3 paragraphs max, with all of them being passives, and one of them is a skill that you already had last edition as a subfaction or minor enhancement.
This is like some sort of sick parody of what 10th was for 40k but taken to the next level for really no fucking reason. If people couldn't bother to learn the rules of the game then why are they even fuckin' playing? If you're actually excited about the game it shouldn't feel like a chore to play for you. This team is incapable of delivering a solid 5th edition because they're not even attempting to course correct on 4th. Spearhead+ is the new future.

>The Veritate, Questors of the Tempest Lords Stormhost, return to the Solune Mesas โ their ancestral lands in Xintil. They marvel to find their descendants alive, albeit having abandoned their original faith for a form of sun worship. Seeking to establish bonds, the Questors attend a solar rite atop the highest mesa. Yet the ceremony's nature soon becomes apparent: worshippers burn their eyes out in bloody offering or turn blades on the Stormcasts with mad abandon. As they do so, the outline of a terrible winged seraph, the object of the tribe's veneration, appears in the sky, shining crimson. Beneath its gaze, the Stormcasts fight โ but not for long.
It's like that shitty feeling of meeting family after a long time apart and finding out they fell down some shitpit rabbit hole online and are terrible people now.

I'm talking about these cringe fucking allegory stories. Some anon was arguing with me that Stormcast somehow isn't a paperthin excuse for projection and self-insert your personal problems into the game.
