Genuine question how long have the 3 of you been playing? Trampling has been considered evasion since it came into existence. Evasion in mtg means "more likely to do damage to a player in combat". Cause you can literally throw blockers in front of all of these

I wish I could kiss Thalia or just hold her. I fucked a skinny Indian girl 2 days ago, it wasn't very enjoyable but for an incel like me any sex would be. It felt good to fuck her but it wasn't really fulfilling. Not like a nice walk in the park with Thalia would be. Honestly I am so depressed at this point I don't think I could even enjoy it. Dying for Thalia would be horrible pain and fear. I wonder sometimes if the final moments of someone are frozen in time forever as consciousness has no way to comprehend its own cessation. So that if I died for Thalia I'd be frozen in impossible agony forever. I hate my life. I don't even play my Thalias commander deck anymore and no one even plays her in Death and Taxes which I can't even afford to build. I'm about to have more free time to play Magic than ever and I still don't do it. I play Magic casually with friends but I never play Thalia there because I'm scared they'll be able to tell.

I don't know the actual prices of my decks since I build from what I have and upgrade over time, but probably Shantotto. It's my newest deck, and it's mostly overpriced commons to hit four mana every turn.

Might go to my LGS for some in-person commander this weekend. Will be my first time playing paper with people I don't know. I'm a little nervous. Anything I should keep in mind? Will they be upset at me for proxying expensive (non-GC) lands?

Depends. My LGS has a "no proxies" rule, but my bootleg (NOT the shitty 50 cent proxies) stuff hasn't been caught. I double sleeve and tell them they can do a visual inspection, but unless they're buying the card from me, it stays in the double sleeve.

Garth One Eye Cycling excluding all 10 triomes that aren't needed but are proxied in because I like them, but could also be substituted for the cheap 1 and 2 Color Cycling lands
It's blink with extra steps, runs 54 cards with the cycling ability, is on the jankier side, takes a long time to stabilise into a winning position, but is fun each time regardless

In my general experience the sweatiest mono color decks I've played against have been red without fail. It helps that red historically has been the poverty color so you can make a good one with a small amount of funds.

I feel like red is the "maybe I can turbo kill the table turn 4 or 5 or do nothing this game" coin toss color. It's thrilling and pretty fun.
Meanwhile White actually is capable to heavily protect whatever their shitass gameplan is at low opportunity cost, with a good selection of pushed legendaries to choose from. Why counterspell a boardwipe, if you could also just blink your side of the board in response, making it asymmetric and even gaining ETB value in the process? It's very consistent, which is why I feel like sweaties more often pick mono white

In the modern state of the format, having a chance to race towards a win sub turn 5 is much stronger than enduring and trying to combo out t10 when the combined rest of the table has had an additional 15 draws minimum to look for combo disrupting removal. I also disagree on White's Legends being overtly pushed. Every color has pushed legends that can warp the gamestate by merely existing on the table. By sheer percentage though I think red by far has the most powerful legends. An overwhelming majority of white legends are straight ass, and large minority of the good ones like Hokori dust drinker are softbanned by player etiquette.

Earthbending is animating with +1/+1s equal to the Earthbending value, but with the added perk of 'when this leaves the battlefield, return it tapped'

Waterbending is convoke and improvise stapled together. Exactly what is said on the tin.

Firebending is add {R} equal to the Firebending Value when the creature attacks, this mana lasts only until end of combat.

Airbending is straightforward like anon said; exile it, its controller may cast it for 2.

Honestly its a lot less fucked than it looked when they first announced it.

He's better in the 99 anyway. I have him in my Zur deck and I don't think I've ever cast him for more than X = 2, so his self-mill is a bit pathetic. The escape cost is pretty steep too, but it's worth it once in a while to support a different strategy, I think for building around it's just not good enough value. Especially because you will dedicate a lot of cards in the 99 to self-milling, which will compete with your slots for enchantments.
Him suddenly being hexproof, lifelink, deathtouch from Zur goes so hard.

I would recommend either Ghen Arcanum Weaver or Bruna Light of Alabaster. Neither are in exactly esper colors, but they are more effective.

Ghen's ability is a much better cost and because nothing is exiled, you can basically keep going round and round if your grave isn't stacked. I also think red enchants can be underrated and having access to them is pretty good.

Bruna recovers all auras in your grave AND everything on the whole field (including opponents) AND in your hand. You won't feel as bad about dedicating slots to self-mill because recovering all auras in grave is just nutty value. She does get a bit kill-on-sight once people are wise to how she works, and having to attack or defend to move auras rather than just putting it on an ETB is a little rough, but you're in the best colors for recovery.

Coming to EDH with a competitive mindset is big fish in small pond energy. You couldn't actually hack it in competitive 1v1 formats so you come here to prey on people who aren't taking the game as seriously.

1v1v1v1 does not lend itself to competitive play. There are too many moving parts, and if you win it might not be because you played optimally- rather it could be that someone played something that happened to disadvantage your deck the least, or when they made a suboptimal play you were advantaged the most by turn order or pure chance in the match up between decks.

It is not worth anyone's time to analyze the board state and attempt to predict 3 opponents simultaneously. There is no perfect line that can force you a win, because ultimately you don't have enough interaction to fend off 3 opponents and in reality you're relying on other players being assessed as the threat so you can sneak a win when their interaction is used up.
If you think you're some galaxy-brain who understands everything that is on the board, how it all interacts, and what 3 opponents next moves are, you're just deluding yourself.

How accurate are EDHrec rankings as a barometer for commander power? My friends and I try to stay under the top 300 unless we all agree to play something high tier, but there seem to be a lot of exceptions and commanders who are much stronger than their rank would suggest due to other popularity factors.

The rankings are just how many decks have been made on there. It's pretty good but it misses the farther out you get if you don't know the game and are just looking at it as a literal tier system. Some commanders drop because their niche/gameplan got a better commander. Take Rhys the Redeemed, it was the elfball commander because it was a combo piece in the command zone and people opted for mana or draw. It doesn't have as many decks also because it's the OG commander.
You need to be basing your pod play level on what the card/deck is doing.

I found it fun to adapt to the new rules, and it was implemented only because the difference in power of our decks became more apparent after we moved from a pod of 4 to 1v1, we had a baby recently, its really too much to have an edh night atm.
I imagine after she gets a few wins we will start changing the rules back to more instants. Arahbo is banned in 1v1 for very good reason, she just needs to getgud and if playing a jobber deck for a while helps, so be it.
