It's ok to not bother with all this stuff in your first/second runs since everything is too dense to take in, but it can help to start to pay attention, some cards are directed to certain types of runners (front/pace/late/end) but some skills are universal and everybody can benefit.

There are new loops when you consider Team Races and Clubs, since both give noticeable rewards.
By trying to get a competitive team for PVP, you also need to train more precise umas and understand the system better, by playing a lot you also make your Club better (because you're getting fans), in the meantime you also get stuff from dailies, Legend Races and the big Events which lets you grind Event Points, which in turns offers rewards in the form of SSR cards and Carats which in turns makes you stronger, etc

There a lot of NUMBERS GO UP besides just training your Uma, new career modes will be added too.
