Zero plans to upgrade. Bought a new laptop because the old one broke, so I spent a day removing basically 95% of Windows 11 software and applications. I get the feeling using computers will lead to "being watched" quite directly within a decade.

I finished Lies of P, got the platinum of Indika and started Harold Halibut in the span of less than 24 hours.

I dont have a console or computer, so I play on GeForce Now cloud streaming to my phone. I have severe mental illness and can't hold a job, just maintain a basic standard of living. I tried Abiotic Factor but I'm not autistic enough to stick with it. I mostly just replay old favorites and phone games. Total war series, dying light 1 + 2, wolfenstein etc. I don't ever think I'll be able to upgrade past cloud streaming. Thanks for reading my blog

I'm supposed to be playing Lisa the Painful but instead I'm playing Skyrim again. Had never done survival mode before but I'm enjoying how it played on expert forces me to really pace my adventures and plan before setting out on a quest. That said i can't decide what my build is so I'm playing a 2 hand axe heavy armor users that also does some magic.

Upgraded to a 4070 super at the start of the year. Next upgrade is to an AM5 system but nothing is that CPU demanding right now so I'll leave it for at least another year maybe two until my 5600 starts to hold me back. The AM5 upgrade is just to expensive right now for how long it's been out.

30 years old, playing star wars battlefront and 2 (originals) on pc. Great fun with single player and multiplayer mods. Next I will do X-Wing Alliance, hopefully with the co op mod. I don't even like star wars that much, these are just excellent games. I mostly play games at least 10 years old but I kinda always have, always catching up. All my gaming spending lately has been on audio. Now I have 7.2 surround arranged around my PC and a calibrated microphone to equalize them. I do want to upgrade my pc at some point since I'm still on 8700k/1080 and there are a few new games I look forward to, but honestly I'd rather spend money on a better monitor and constructing my ideal PC speakers. Currently the surround speakers are decent Polk towers from years ago but there is nothing that matches them to go on my desk (so I will have to make them). Those aspects are underrated compared to computing hardware IMO because they can improve everything you consume, with movies, music, old games as well as new.
Games I look forward to:
Full versions of Wreckfest 2, XF Extreme Formula and Aero GPX. Maybe Break Arts III and EA WRC for when I improve the PC situation.

I'm done with consoles. I have PS5, XSX, Switch. No more consoles. Only reason I got PS, XBone, Switch was exclusives and I went to XSX and PS5 for backwards compatibility with SDD. No Switch 2 because even if they are good, someone will copy it and make a game that improves on it for PC.

You might have gotten sudden sensorineural hearing loss. That happened to me, and I only noticed it because of the accompanying tinnitus in my left ear.
You should go to urgent care or an ENT, there's only a 2 week window from the symptom onset where treatments will work.

I have a 5900x and a 3070 8gb. With the first kid due in jan, I reaaalllyy don't see myself upgrading for a long time. I'll probably be getting more use out of my oled deck I got for 350 if anything.

I got some tinnitus from construction work. If you do not know the cause you should follow other poster's advice and investigate it immediately. You may also want to schedule an appointment with an audiologist as fast as possible. Specialists can be booked for a long time so you should get the ball rolling on it.

Now for what helps me with it, I am always listening to music when I go to sleep, usually slow jazz or electronic. I use speakers, having headphones or even IEMs makes it harder to sleep and when they block external noises the tinnitus seems louder in comparison.
I queue a playlist about two hours long and have a remote to adjust volume so I don't need to turn on any screen at night.
A lot of people also like to leave fans running, that worked well for me too in the summer when I lived somewhere with no AC. I wouldn't leave a TV on because any light can help keep you awake. Also look for anything else that can contribute to lost sleep because it can add up. Blinking lights, phone use and so on. I like to have some milk and a beer or two before bed but don't overdo it on drinking or get dependent on it - has never been a problem for me but hard for others.

What's the state of GPUs these days? I want a new build but haven't done it since 2018 and not only have they gone up in price but apparently some are good for ray tracing and others are good if you don't want ray tracing or certain resolutions and there's all sorts of AI upscaling middleware.

I just upgraded my PC. Built it myself, I'm not playing the labor markup on a pre-built (and I don't trust them not to cheap out on the power supply anyway). Cost 2 grand but it was worth it. Didn't cheap out this time. Now I won't have to upgrade again for quite a while. Pretty much maxed out on cooling - the damn thing sounds like a turbine unless I manually lower the fan speeds, but since I wear noise cancelling headphones it doesn't even matter. Keeps her nice and chill, almost no thermal retention at all (maybe 1 degree increase per hour, if it's something heavy like raytracing).

One more thing regarding audio and hearing loss. Get a calibrated microphone like a umik to measure the frequency response of your speakers. It's sold to help improve sound quality but can also help protect your hearing. The reason is some speakers or interactions with the room have resonances that cause some frequencies to be much louder than others. Ideally for an in-room measurement this graph would have a smooth, gentle sloping downwards from bass to treble. This graph has a pretty bad speaker with hugely uneven response. +6db is 4x the energy, so if you listen to this at a satisfying average volume some of the notes will be much too loud. You could get used to how it sounds but it can still add up with some frequencies being so much louder at a comfortable listening volume. I have seen +20db resonances in bass notes when calibrating subwoofers. You probably can recall hearing a such sub that was really boomy but did not sound good. That kind of thing can really damage your hearing fast. Even if you have good speakers, low bass just has this kind of interaction within rooms.
This is also an example of when using cheap little pc speakers counterintuitively can be more damaging than big hifi ones. The little ones are so deficient in mid-bass that you have to turn them up for voices to be intelligible, but their treble is way too high because they are just not tuned properly.
Once you have your measurements you need a playback device with some ability to EQ, ideally parametric EQ. Even a ~$10 5-bad peq Fiio usb dongle for your phone should be enough for safety and quality improvements. There is a $50 one with 20 bands. I just use my bedroom PC with free software.

4070 TI Super would be the new replacement since the 50 series has no PhysX compatibility, but good luck finding one without getting scammed up the ass. Your next best option would be a 5070 Ti. On the other hand, you should also try looking into AMD cards, as far as I know, the driver situation has shifted and now it's Nvidia the one with constant driver issues while AMD has been improving in that regard.

Here is a measurement of the very popular and dangerously horrible Creative Pebble PC speakers - you can see what I mean with the treble being around ~10db (10x) more energy than upper bass that makes voices intelligible and the breakup resonance being ~20db (100x!) more energy than the upper bass.

Still worth getting a hearing test done. My hearing loss is only at high pitched frequencies, and only in my left ear, so I don't even notice the hearing loss during normal everyday life. If it wasn't for the roaring tinnitus I wouldn't even know I'd suffered any loss.

The ear is much less sensitive than bass to treble, so you can tolerate a higher volume of bass for longer without damage. In ordinary sounds. recordings and music the bass is that much stronger, hence why the ear's sensitivity varies like that. What sounds balanced does already have much more bass energy. (here is a spectrogram of a random song).
With the car being so far away, and only driving by for a short time, it should not cause you any harm. I might worry about the person inside the car, although there are times that it actually sounds louder outside the car than inside due to destructive interference of waves bouncing around inside.

For sleeping, if I were you I think I'd get some kind of speakers separate from the TV, even if they're very cheap, just so you can listen with the TV being off. I don't know if the light of a backlit black screen TV affects your sleep but it would surely affect mine.

I have a Saturn coming in the mail today. Beyond that, I have no reason to upgrade my PC for the foreseeable future. Nu-MonHun among others has killed any interest in modern PC releases.

Finishing my natural lab today, that just leaves workplace writing and communication and then I will probably be done writing papers for the rest of my education then just 5 intro compsci classes and boom I'm in college with a third of my degree done and can hopefully get some sort of IT job. Only issue is apparently for the comm class I have to record myself in front of a camera, any tips for concealing power level?

not great. few years ago(end of covid) i became what i can only describe as emotionally sensitive, but it only happens when i'm at work. gets worse as i go deeper into the work week, but mondays i'm fine. i'm talking shit like if i watch a sad video or read a sad reddit post it throws me into tears, or if i try to do something productive like learn a new skill i get this feeling of mental resistance. stopped eating sugar, drinking caffeine because i thought maybe it's diabeetus or some adhd shit to try to narrow it down but can't pinpoint the cause still. could be sleep but usually asleep 12 to 7, unless i stay up watching youtube on phone in bed, which should be enough. the job isn't hard or toxic but i wanted to quit it for a while now. might see a doctor but they'll probably scream depression and try to put me on meds which i didn't need my entire life for some reason.
been playing doom 1 and 2 for nostalgia.
looking forward to gta so far.

The house was made into a duplex rental at some point by slumlords. Once thr city started cracking down, they sold the house for like 79k. They did absolutely fucking nothing for upkeep.
I'm currently getting the outside stairwell replaced because it was made with plywood/retardation and was rotting away.

The place was falling apart, and the landlord absolutely took advantage of naive college students when it came to making up excuses as to why basic maintenance wasn't done. If samsung actually comes out with a 1000R OLED 49" 32:9 monitor I'd buy that in a heartbeat. The 1800R on the current OLED model (and all its competitors who use the same panel) is way too shallow so I've just been using the 1000R QLED G9 for years. I upgraded at the end of last year so the only thing left I could upgrade would be a scalped 5090. Maybe I could get a BigScreen Beyond 2 to replace my index headset but I don't play much VR (because of the headset is kinda uncomfortable) so it's probably just sunk cost fallacy at this point.

Don't know what to say anon. I replayed both Jet Force Gemini and Ocarina of Time not that long ago after not having touched them since I was a kid, and still had a really good time with them. Some parts of OOT were better than I remembered even, but that might had to do with me being ESL and barely understanding the dialogue of the game back then.

Feeling good. Trying to balance playing vidya with being a new dad is tough but I think I've done okay so far. Didn't play anything for the first couple months but now I squeeze in a couple hours a couple days a week.
Really only been playing Bam Ham Arkham Knight and Company of Heroes 3 and having a blast.
Just ordered a new PC with a 7800x3d and a 7900 xtx black after having pretty mid/low level pcs my whole life so I'm pretty excited. Its not cutting edge but it should let me play most things maxed out at good FPS, and I can finally buy some other games I didn't feel like running at low settings just to play.

usually marvel rivals. recently finished 100%ing oblivion remaster finishing mage guild and dark brotherhood was a struggle the performance was tanked from recent patch . then I played "the rpg" a indie rpg game that wasn't very good but I beat it
and then did genshin summer event due to it ending soon also the bf beta which sucked

not really anything im hyped for at all. I'll check out fft and mgs3 remakes see if they are any good. nothing from gamescom looked even remotely good.
one game that still looks good is phantom blade 0 but been waiting fucking years for that already
