>brought to you by tumblr
I know it sounds like I'm resurrecting a dead horse, forget beating it, but I'm convinced tumblr and the culture that developed in it caused catastrophic damage to the artists using the platform, who then went on to work for actual videogame studios with dire consequences. This is the result of so called "toxic positivity", people not accostumed to giving nor receiving criticism.
The biggest offender to me of these designs is that there doesn't seem to be a distinct identity to them, how do I put it... You know how, say, goth as a movement has a distinct visual identity to the point that if someone utters that word you immidiately have a mental picture of the aesthetics being discussed? I would have a very hard time describing Concord's visual identity.
Another thing that bothers me is most of these designs are overcluttered, too much stuff slapped on that just creates confusion. The color choices are eye watering, personally as an artist I recognize my own color choices are drab, monotone, I suck at coloring, but these guys went into the complete opposite direction with the colors being overly vibrant, clashing
