sometimes you just get a shit hand dealt to you. I've had careers where I was confident enough to use 3 clocks and on the final clock my uma smokes the competition basically to the point of it looking like a senior horse vs. an OP starter race, but any attempt before then she was caught in traffic and got like 5-9th place.
Someone could correct me about more factors that go into it but genuinely sometimes you just get shit runs, yell at your uma and go again

People do Speed + Stam because Speed has the better card selection inc Kitasan and if you have a lot of speed cards, you eventually train up power to a reasonable level as well because it's the speed training secondary stat.
