it matters less if you have adequately timed accelleration skills. For Taurus in particular, the final corner starts just 25 meters into the late-race, which makes skills like maru/taiki/ryan incapable of being triggered too early, and with both of them and a pace chaser in position 3-5 you have pretty good odds of at least 1 of them firing early and sending you to your top speed nice and quick. similarly ryan's consistently triggers just by being in position 6 on that same corner, and if that does its job upon entering position 6 it may chain into taiki's if you have it.
the weakest link ends up being maru that can activate at the very end if unlucky.

anon posted his 9 stam ryan with maru and taiki parents all with their unique sparks yesterday a thread or 2 back. it's a super great option for getting pretty much any uma ready for the taurus cup, i'm sure he still has follow slots.

There are some wildcard(lol) events that show up in your career but that can be from any card, even ones you don't have
Friendship built with Director Akikawa does matter by the senior year but only at 3 bars. Friendship with the reporter also has an effect but its a rather minor one at the end of the story and honestly is just a nice tiny bonus whenever she's around

You mean bond with director and the newswoman? Director is very important to trigger event with her, newswoman not really. On top of that if you 100% them, during the end of career your uma will get 15 / 10 all stats bonus and some skill points.
