as far as hype for seed & orphie is concerned, we know that seed is an SSanby sidegrade, and we know that SSanby is gonna get buffed. so if you already rolled SSanby, you've no reason to roll seed. orphie is gonna be the more hyped one gameplay wise, but even then, many people are building anomalies, so don't really have a usage for an off-field attacker who wants to support another attacker

as far as hype for money is concerned, you gotta keep in mind that "everyone is a value player"
- "free to play" might make fanart and stuff, but they know they're never gonna actually spend any money, and nobody likes watching ads. free to play are only there to make the game more fun for payers (or one day become payers themselves). usually this is done with a guild / co-op system, but we don't have that.
- "subscription payers" are gonna buy the subscription even on patches that they skip, because they consider it good value. we know there's plenty of players both on console and elsewhere, so i'm sure the devs are getting plenty of money that way, and know they can afford to release filler patches and issue extensions.
- "dolphins" also consider the shop reset to be good value, allowing them to get "double the value" on all purchases. that's why launch is always so profitable, and it's why shifu was profitable. devs know they'll get another injection in 3.0
- "whales" also spend within reason. usually it's for a PvP mode, which we don't have. but after that it's for "rare elements", in our case void hunters

It's right behind NIkke and ZZZ so not flopping but it's just not as popular in CN or overall.
It's general failures are many.
Empty overworld with little to do.
They've made character stories into the main story.
They don't ever reuse their cast so once the patch is done current shilled characters are forgotten.
Story is not consistant and leaps around all over with the same villans being reused yet jobbing constantly
Rover, while likeable and has some personality, is a massive gary stu and has earned nothing but just does everything.
This causes ML not to feel earned or even lasts since previous girls don't exist after a couple patches.
Combat is their big selling point but lack of combat events.
Events are just facebook games at this point.
The few events that should be fun end up feeling like a chore.
Hologram system is shit.
Whimpering Wastes is still very much hated even from its beta testing as Pincer warriors.
ToA the Shinyu equlivant got reduced to once a month for the same rewards and also feels like a chore.
Graphics optimization has become a major problem with each new update despite the whole focus on very details and very beautiful scenery.
And on and on and on. Theres just a lot of minor to medium levels problems all over the place for the game.
I still play and get some enjoyment out of it but it's going to be the first game to drop once something better comes out.

I play both too, I know /zzz/ always argues about story but the story in that game so far... feels like every patch is a short story, with Cristoforo stepping in at the end saying something ominous than vanishes. Every story patch, the previous characters are suddenly forgotten. Carlotta, Zani, Pheebs is like non existent, Ciaconna shows up then is gone instantly, Lupa is shafted to a side character cameo role. 2.6 is another gladiator fight like the previous patch. At one point you'll always be wondering hey, why wasn't "X character here or where is Y character?" Also the main story is time gated, you'll see Iuno's part in the second half of 2.6.

You know the current ZZZ agent stories? That's basically the state of wuwa's main story quests atm. It's a bunch of character quests that comes and go with the banners.
