I honestly prefer the nightmare version where the pokemon you get is completely random. Everyone wants to turn into a humanoid good pokemon like lucario. But nobody wants to turn into Luvdisc, or qwilfish, or jigglypuff, or unown, or dunsparce, etc.

Like if you got to pick how many people would either be legendaries or otherwise powerful mons with psychic powers or hands.

Jigglypuff wouldn't be TOO bad. I'm actually still thinking about what the underwater world would look like in my information age Mystery Dungeon setting. How do you build homes and mod cons for fish?

>>58160764
As one anon put it at the end of 2023, "Lucario's introduction made every shut-in nerd want to larp as a big-booty twink furry with childbearing hips".

Gotta admit, it worked on me. If you think about it, they actually have an ideal combination of masculine (large paws, powerful legs, spikes, piercing eyes) and feminine (thin, waifish waist and arms plus large hips) features, which helps explain why they're so popular among a wide variety of sexual preferences. Funnily enough, if you look at Renamon, who is popular in the exact same way, you'll realize they have almost much the exact same combination of features.

Everybody wants the curvy twink. And there's nothing wrong with that. Whether that twink has a cock or a pussy is kind of immaterial to be honest. It's the character design itself that draws people in. You can even push it in a slightly more masculine (Pokken) or slightly more feminine (most fanart) direction without going drastically off-model, so it's even better placed for broad appeal.

Shillmon or not, one must admit that a lot of thought went into this design.

>"He'll owe me one when he gets back," you thought to yourself after your colleague drove off in search of a door and left you with the lizard with a mental breakdown.
>Instead of ruminating over it, you decided to take off your rust-covered gloves.
>Unfortunately some dust ended up on your hands anyway; it looked like your hands were covered in Cheeto dust.
>You went to the bathroom to wash them.
>Once you opened the door, you noticed the mirror was completely covered up with a piece of cardboard and duct tape.
>You peeled just enough of it to see underneath.
>The mirror was shattered yet still attached.
>She must have tried to destroy it.
>The rest of the bathroom looked as normal as it gets, except for a chair that felt a bit out of place.
>Her size must have made it difficult for her to reach higher objects in the cabinet, and her mental block prevented her from just climbing up the wall.
>You decided not to think about it for now and focus more on helping her.
>Once you returned, Salazzle was lying on her side with her tablet, seemingly trying to distract her mind.
>You took a seat next to her and thought about how to best approach the situation without causing another relapse.
>You overlooked what she was doing on the tablet.
>She was watching videos of pokemon appearences.
>You weren't sure if it could make her spiral further in or out of her current state, but you decided to leave her to her own devices.
>She was watching several seconds of a video, maybe a minute, and playing the next one.
>She went through the Brionne videos, Snorlax traffic jams, random sightings, and the Aggron and Aron live stream, but she stopped at the footage from the Aggron and Lucario incident.
>She paused the video at the moment when you were escorting the Lucario and pointed at you in the frame with the hope of confirmation that that was you.

>You confirmed her suspicions that both you and your colleague were present during the event.
>This seemingly made her open up again, and she started writing something on the tablet.
>"What happened to the blue dog?" she asked.
>The way she asked made you know that she didn't know much about pokemon, as the names of both Aggron and Lucario were in the title of the video, and she didn't know which was which.
>"We don't know," you answered, "we tried to find it after we escorted the Aggron and Arons to the junkyard but couldn't find it."
>The way you identified the pokemon by their names made her return to her tablet
>"What am I?" she held up the tablet with her arms slightly shaking.
>"Someone who turned into a Salazzle," you answered.
>She returned to her tablet with another question.
>"What is going to happen to me now?"
>"For now you'll stay here, where you'll be safe," you said.
>"The rest will be determined after we replace your door," you continued.
>"Do you have anyone you could trust with your condition, family, or friends?" you asked.
>She shook her head before typing something on the tablet
>"My parents didn't have a great relationship with the rest of their respective families before dying, so they didn't keep up contact with them. I moved here from the other side of the country a year after their death, as this was their house. My old relationships didn't survive the distance, and I didn't have enough time to make new friends here between work and renovations."
>"And your neighbor? He was the one who called us to perform a wellness check on you, so he seems to care about you in some regards."
>She returned to typing
>"He is a kind man, but I didn't even know how I would approach him about it. I can't speak, and he doesn't know how to open or write a text message. Besides that, I don't know how he or his wife would react if they saw me in this form."

>If there was a trail, it went cold days ago.
>That was a big if.
>Because you weren’t seeing anything.
>The trail started and ended here at the house.
>Despite the horror movie interior, the outdoors looked fine.
>The tall, wooden fences likely hid the broken backdoor.
>Jumping to the rooftop, you hoped a new perspective might help.
>It didn’t.
>The shattered glass on the patio twinkled in the evening light.
>Aside from that…
>The outdoor furniture might have been knocked around a bit…
>Or it could have been left that way for months.
>Crawling to the edge of the roof, you braced against the gutters and looked down.
>A couple trampled flowers at the edge of the house stood out.
>But with woodchips surrounding the plants, making out a footprint was out of the question.
>What other signs do hunters look for, you wondered.
>Nothing else seemed amiss.
>Birds flew away from the maple tree, chirping in warning as you approached.
>You ran a paw-hand across the bumpy texture, circling the trunk.
>It looked untouched and intact.
>Fences stood fine.
>The little vegetation with bite marks was probably rabbits.
>The bedroom smelled unique.
>Something inhuman certainly had a hand trashing it.
>It didn’t mean much out here; all you smelled was fresh air.
>If it was a lady who transformed, she didn’t seem keen on marking her territory.
>She got out. Probably fast.
>Neighboring yards bore no obvious tracks.
>Whether it was by luck, or intentional, you couldn’t tell.
>She could be anywhere.
>She could have gone in any direction.
>And, you had no idea what she even was.
>You sighed.
>Even if you knew what she was, you probably couldn’t track her.
>This was a days old trail and you were no bloodhound.

>Halfway home, you had an unsettling revelation.
>You gave yourself ample time after the 911 call, but the police never arrived.
>Unfortunately, you imagined they had their hands full.
>Night fell by the time you climbed through your bedroom window.
>Aura helped you navigate, but it wasn’t built-in night vision.
>That’s what you get for checking out that grocery store again.
>You were really hoping to see that Machamp.
>They seemed to have their wits about them.
>Maybe you’d see them on social media.
>Opening the refrigerator, you grabbed an apple and…
>Well, what else?
>Eggs.
>You still had plenty.
>And unfortunately, no butter.
>Part of you was relieved.
>Growing used to working with a hot stove did not mean you fully trusted yourself.
>Admitting it felt childish, but those bright-orange, burning coils scared you on a deep level.
>Well, it was time to test your body’s digestion system.
>Carefully, you tapped the first egg against the counter.
>The shell cracked, but the membrane held.
>You tapped a little harder and splashed egg white over it.
>Not your best egg crack.
>Using both hands, you pulled the halves apart and dumped the egg into the bowl.
>Lucky you, there were fewer shell bits than usual.
>Sloshing the bowl around, you stuck a paw-finger in and slid the few hard bits out.
>Satisfied it was free of shell, you stared down at it.
>You hadn’t done this before.
>It had to be safe.
>Grandpa did it with milk.
>Shaking some salt and pepper in there seemed right.
>Now seasoned, you pressed the bowl to your lips and tipped it up.
>…
>The white was bland and slimy.
>It was like salt and peppered mucus.
>The yolk was also slimy, but actually bore flavor.
>The silky texture broke apart in your mouth quickly.
>It reminded you of a cream-filled chocolate egg.
>The yolk tasted rich compared to the white.
>A bit buttery, funny enough.
>You swallowed everything in one gulp.
>Pleasantly inoffensive.

Do you still dream of yourself as a human or when you dream you’re whatever pokémon you were transformed into? Maybe it changes over time based on how much you accept it or how long it’s been? When black and white tvs went mainstream, some people complained they could no longer dream in color.

Sure, but only because they don't roll off the tongue very well. The trick is to come up with original religious expletives that sounds better, like how you have "Emperor's Teeth!" and similar in 40K.

For instance, Arceus is often symbolized (at least in fanon) by the golden wheel attached to his midsection. Thus, "by the wheel!" could be a possible expletive. Pokemon would have a concept of judgement (as it's Arceus' signature move), but not in the western sense of god determining whether you are worthy or heaven or condemned to hell, as the Pokemon afterlife is completely different and, to all appearances, much more Shinto-like. Thus a statement like, "may you suffer Judgement..." is beseeching Arceus not to find your soul wanting after you die, but rather to physically come down and personally kick your ass for being a douche, right here and now (much more direct even than the whole god striking you dead thing). That also fits the Pokemon mindset - they like to settle their differences right away (rather than hold grudges and manipulate) and are well-equipped to do so. In context of my information age PMD setting, there's no harm in challenging your annoying co-worker to battle. The likelihood of lasting injury is very small and even if you lose, you've spent your aggression and might just grow closer with them in the process.

For those who favour someone other than the chief god, a simple "praise Dialga!" rolls off the tongue extremely well - a common refrain among those who work long and/or grueling hours, I'd wager. Palkia is tougher, but "honour Palkia!" or "glory Palkia!" might work. As for Giratina, though the Distortion World is NOT Hell and should NOT be substituted as such, since Giratina represents antimatter, "hope you distort..." could be a roundabout way of saying you hope somebody dies or kills themselves.

Not saying these are necessarily great, but you get the idea - you gotta exercise a little more creativity with this sort of thing.

I also have to agree with "Arceus dammit" making me grimace.

Not quite the same, but I read a PMD story years ago where the writer incorporated the stairs literally into the story. The characters came to stairs in the middle of some woods. The characters walked up above the trees and... were on the next floor of the area. I'm not quite sure why he wrote it that way instead of the more reasonable "they're going further into the forest" angle.

I dunno, something about interpreting a game mechanic so literally made me seethe so hard I stopped reading, but it stuck with me well over a decade since reading it.

In a way I hated that from the anime whenever it happened. If Pokemon are their friends why couldn't they share food with them at the table? Sure there were instances where there was no table available or any table at hand was too small but I'm sure things could be sorted out beforehand from writers themselves but instead they are left like literal animals at floor level

Regarding the stairs: like anything, it depends on the execution. The excellent PMD: Another Perspective webcomic uses extremely literal interpretations of the game mechanics very well both for comic effect and to REALLY hammer home the protagonist's culture shock (also, crucially, unlike your example they made the function of the stairs actually make some degree of sense). It's easily my favourite Pokemon webcomic, with an interesting premise and fantastic protagonist and partner... too bad the artist's perfectionism killed it stone dead... : \

>"Strange as it might seem, it reminds me of my childhood. When I was little, I wanted to have a taste of my father's coffee, and he gave me some of it using the spoon he used to stir it. I remember it being extremely bitter. A bitterness only a child could experience. After all the years, coffee lost that bitter taste up until the day I turned. I tried some coffee with the hope it would wake me up from a nightmare. When I tried to drink it, I immediately spat it out, but the bitter aftertaste reminded me of my childhood, and in a way it reminded me of my humanity. So I kept forcing myself to drink it even if it tasted like poison, and the bitterness never went away despite my hopes," she wrote.

>"On a related subject, what did you eat during all this time?" You decided to shift the conversation to something less depressing.

I've seen tasks that take up no thinking space, but prevent boredom because you're still technically doing something, referred to as "light meditation". It's perfect for composing your thinking, which is why "shower thoughts" exist. Dunno about a t-shirt, but a button-up would probably work.

Considering IRL egg-laying species, depending on the Pokemon it's either going to be "abandoned before birth" or "wholesome as all Hell", with very little in-between. There'd be a lack of strong gender roles due to mostly very low sexual dimorphism and relatively low cost of reproduction to the female.

It's a circumstance that's so far out of left field from our typical experience that there's really no "right" answer you can pre-bake. All you could do, realistically, is play it by ear - do what makes sense to you while doing your best to minimise harm to yourself and others.

>"Thank you for treating me like a human," she wrote on the tablet.
>You didn't know how to reply to that.
>"No need to thank me; I'm just doing my job," you replied.
>She stared at you in a way that said, "You really had to use that generic ass line?"
>Fortunately, not soon after, a smile returned to her face.
>You had gotten an idea for at least a temporary way to help her.
>"How about we exchange our phone numbers or contacts on social media? So you could have some contact with someone you could trust." you sugested.
>She entered her mind to weigh the pros and cons of your suggestion.
>It took about a minute for her to make her mind up on the matter.
>"You won't give up easily, will you? I accept your offer," she presented it on her tablet with a smile.
>As you were about to shake hands with her, she jumped and put her arms around your neck in a hug before shortly letting go.
>She wrote her phone number down on her tablet, and you saved it to your phone.
>You called the number to check if there were no mistakes, and as expected, her phone started to ring.
>This made you remember something.
>You forgot to ask her if she has a way of supporting herself financially.
>"So... I forgot to ask you something. Do you have enough money to support yourself?" you asked.
>She waved her hand and started writing.
>"Don't worry, I still have some money saved up. And if push comes to shove, I can do some remote work," she wrote.
>"And besides, I'm now smaller, so I need less stuff." she added with a smile on her face.

>He has attached the door to the roof of the car.
>You helped him with getting the door off the roof and to the house.
>He returned to the car for the bag of shrimp.
>"Here are the shrimp you ordered. Why did you need those anyway? He said while handing you over the bag of seafood.
>"Well, she can't really eat most human food, and shrimp seemed to me as the closest to what Salazzles are supposed to eat." You answered.
>"Let me guess. Bugs?" He asked.
>"Bugs." You confirmed.
>"Either way, it's time to install this door."
>The Salazzle was looking at the two of you from the end of the corridor.
>You approached her with the bag of shrimp.
>As you approached her, her tail started to wag and smacked on the wall.
>She was a bit embarrassed and stepped on her own tail to stop it from wagging.
>"So where should I put this?" you asked her.
>She led you to a freezer.
>It was full of food, and in a way it was hard to find a place for those shrimp.
>As soon as you managed to fit it in, your colleague called you over to help with the door.
>He could have done it alone, and you kind of wanted him to do it solo because you did all the emotional labor today.
>Then again, he did need to arrest that guy for driving under the influence and drive him to the station.
>Either way, you already spent enough time here and needed to get going despite enjoying talking to the Salazzle about random stuff.

>As she shut her brand-new door and you went to the car to leave, you were stopped by her neighbor wanting to know what happened.
>You explained to him calmly that she was fine and just needed some alone time.
>The question about the door and gas masks was answered by your colleague.
>He just said something about spilled perfumes and the door being made of poor-quality materials in the most authoritative tone possible.
>In a way, the fact that some of those Salazzle pheromones stuck to your clothing supported this spilled perfume story.
>The elderly man didn't question your answers as he was just glad that his neighbor was doing well and went back home.
>You finally took a seat in the police car and drove away.
>The rest of your day was relatively pokemon-free with some exceptions.
>Like that case of a Pitbull turned Eevee or the case of a Smeargle doing graffiti.
>The Eevee's owner seemed responsible enough, and the Smeargle ran away before you managed to catch it.
>The worst case, however, was spending 3 hours in highway traffic because a Snorlax decided to take a nap.
>It got moved eventually as a military transport helicopter was used to fly it away somewhere else, but those were 3 hours of your life you didn't get back.
>During that time you listened to the radio with some announcement that schools were going to get shut down for the foreseeable future.
>That made you think that they would establish a curfew in the not-so-distant future.
>"Great, more work," you thought to yourself.
>As the workday ended, your colleague dropped you off at your house, and as you expected, the Snorlax was still in your driveway.
>"He is still there..." your colleague comented.
>"Yup," you answered.
>"If you want, I could pick you up tomorrow." he offered you.

Well so far OG writefag's lucario story and policeanon's story are in the same continuity. Herding Cats might not be, but it's such a narrowly focused bottle story where Ben is completely isolated from the outside world that it could go either way honestly.

I'm sure nobody will mind if you want to write something completely unrelated to the existing stories, though. Just make it clear that's what you're doing so nobody gets confused.

Here's the rules I've been following.
>Unnamed city in the USA - Let the reader imagine its happening near them.
>Never explain why it happened.
>It will shake up the world, but it's not a world-ending threat. This is not the apocalypse. Most people and animals stay the same.
>Not everyone's the same after the change. Some are worse than others.
>Avoid legendaries.

Really though, at the end of the day... Who cares? Have fun with it. That's the whole point of the thread. If you have a great idea for a story or picture just go for it. Just don't force weird shit on other stories or mess with their characters.

>His nostrils flared.
>You took a step forward, hoping to calm the situation.
>An accusatory stare and finger pointing locked you in place.
>”Jesus, what’re ya’ doing!?” He asked again, backing a little faster. “Stay! Back!”
>In a weak, defensive gesture you pathetically brought your arms up.
>”Stay back!” He commanded again.
>Mom shook.
>Dad was shaking too.
>Your heart beat faster.
>Mom gripped the door handle with a sleeve, fumbling madly at the door.
>Oh…
>Infectious.
>Contagious.
>Pathologic.
>The door shut with extra force behind it.
>Oh no…
>Why didn’t you tell them?
>Why…?
>Aura-sight flickered in and out.
>Unchecked, raw emotions flared your powers.
>The back of your head tingled, your sensors abuzz and electrified by the rush of sentiment.
>Both yours and your parents.
>Uncomfortable feelings of confusion, fury, distress, and betrayal polluted the air like a fog.
>You didn’t watch them pull out to the street.
>You couldn’t.
>Physically, you couldn’t.
>Your palms blazed with unchecked aura.
>it started with warmth.
>Then it started to hurt.
>It burned.
>You cursed yourself, being so unwieldy with aura made you feel like a child.
>Irresponsible in your training and lax in your communication.
>Oh, what were you thinking?!
>Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish. Selfish.
>You ran to the bathroom, grabbing the door frame for balance and singeing it with the unearthly power pouring from your paws.
>You fell to your knees in the bathroom, brought down through urgency and blistering hands.
>It was like you stuck them in boiling water.
>The shower curtain bore scorch marks as you threw it aside.
>Crying out, you turned the faucet on, letting cold water cascade down.
>You weren’t sure if it really helped.
>But it made you feel something.

>It had to be them.
>You cursed, torn between what to do.
>Groaning, the red-hot ache almost won out.
>Actual fire might have been better.
>It would have killed your nerves by now.
>With tremendous effort and an angry cry, you whipped your wet paws out and buried them into your armpits, hoping to smother the purple-blue flame.
>It helped.
>The pain distributed itself.
>There was seconds before it went to voicemail.
>You tore towards the phone, singeing the screen as you swiped the green button.
>Mom.
>In the background, Dad swore up a storm.
>Mom stayed silent, neither greeting nor hanging up.
“Y-Yeah…?” You stammered between chattering teeth.
>Mom said nothing.
>Waiting.
“M-Muh, muh, Mom!?” You asked and pleaded.
>Try as you might, you couldn’t hold your voice together.
>You’d run through the haze of lingering feelings in the air.
>The aura burned hotter here.
>”When you said you were sick yesterday…” Mom began.
>This was intolerable.
>You had to get out of here, with the phone.
>With your fiery hands, you might scramble something inside.
>You couldn’t risk breaking it.
>So you didn’t think.
>You bit.
>”Oh, Honey…” Mom sighed.
>You weren’t sure if that exasperation was toward you or Dad.
>Maybe both.
>Saliva drooled over the phone.
>Knowing your luck, you might have acidic spittle now.
>But with the device between your teeth, you staggered back to the bathroom.

It’s easy to say in retrospect, but did he really think surprising his parents would be the best move? It’s not even the change, it’s the complete lack of notice or courtesy. You were so anxious you couldn’t explain it over text or the phone so you decided to spring this on them in person where they don’t have time to process it in private before reacting? You would warn someone if they’re visiting your home and didn’t know you had a pet dog. You wouldn’t throw the door open and say, “oh yeah, that’s Cujo, he’s real friendly”. I swear it’s like he never came up with contingency plans on what to do if he was ever transformed against his will.

Protag is trapped in Hell. But, like, a personal Hell. A kind of Hell that perfectly suits the self-discovery and small-scale adventures that have typified this story up to this point. It's that special sort of painful where you WANT to hate the author for doing this to the character, but find you can't because it's so infuriatingly well-written. All you can do is hope they find the means by which to claw their way back out of the pit of suffering.

>>58200525
Gee, it's almost like normal people don't plan for this sort of thing or something.

Man, I really gotta get on to writing that Machamp thing. The slightly cumbersome sunshine of 'champ's newfound existence will contrast nicely against protag now being at what may prove to be his lowest point.

Alright, wish me luck...

>You were awoken rudely, as always, by the screeches of a digital alarm clock, its cries harsh and grating compared to the more dulcet tones produced by your phone when you set an alarm.
>You needed it.
>The phone was always too quiet and you usually just slept through it, which made this piece of kit, antiquated though it might have been, an absolute necessity for you.
>Or perhaps you were just a hipster in denial...
>Either way, you blearily reached out to silence the racket, again as always, blissfully unaware in the moment that this would be you and the alarm clock's final moment together.
>You didn't entirely perceive what happened at first.
>You just heard cracking plastic, a faint metallic tinkling, and then the inevitably louder than one would think it should be impact of a small, hard object cratering into the floor.
>Peering groggily over the edge of the bed, you saw your alarm clock in pieces.
>The casing was completely smashed in, and more pieces had broken off and skittered away after it had hit the floor.
>Part of the electronics inside were visible, even giving off a tiny amount of magic smoke before the apparently damaged battery finally sparked and failed completely.
>You were still half-asleep, and so couldn't muster the proper amount of anger, shock, or upset for such a situation.
>Weird, you weren't normally THIS out of it when you woke up, much less when things were falling down and going boom like that.
>Trying in some way to make sense of what was going on and maybe wake yourself up properly, you slowly reached out with both right arms toward the shattered remnants.
>Both... right arms...?
>Your breathing began to quiver as both hands turned over to show the palms, fingers flexing and unflexing in perfect unison at your unconscious command.
>You tried lifting your left hand into view.

>Trembling fingers eased gently around the wood of the door (you were immensely glad in that moment that you liked to sleep with it slightly ajar), only for both of your hands to rip it open almost faster than you could see, the crunch of the doorknob smashing through the plasterboard and the hinges squealing in protest making you wince.
>In hindsight you'd go on to reflect that a doorstop would've been a good investment long ago, but you couldn't think about that right now.
>You couldn't think about much of anything.
>You were almost on autopilot.
>It carried you to the bathroom.
>Your gaze reflexively averted as you stepped tentatively over the threshold.
>You starred at your hands again.
>All four of them.
>Part of you didn't want to see - the rest knew you had to.
>Why were you so groggy?
>Part of you wanted it to be because you were drugged - the rest knew it wasn't true.

>You'd seen the news reports, of course.
>It was all anyone at work could talk about.
>You hadn't seen a Pokemon in person yet, but several co-workers alleged that they had.

>Like that girl. What was that Pokemon called again...?

>And yet...
>Slowly, you raised both right hands. You only wanted one, but couldn't seem to will the second to co-operate.
>Tentative. Shaking a little. You touched your reflection in the mirror. Ran your fingers down the glass.
>You swallowed. You tilted your head at yourself a little.

>Heh...

>At first it was only during big important stories, but now these blank segments have been showing up in the middle of stories about traffic, missing persons, something that happened involving a scrapyard.
>There's even a weather reporter who is always blanked out now.
>It makes the news hard to understand, but I don't worry too much about it. I don't need to see those stories, because pokemon aren't real.
>I watch the news now just to spend time with her.
>Eventually, she tells me to go make dinner, so I do.
>We used to both cook, but now I prep all the meals.
>It's a lot of work, but I don't mind. I never get tired when I am with her.
>For myself, I stack a simple sandwich.
>Her meal is a bit more complicated. We have to buy special ingredients from the pet store now. I mix them with water, and she lifts the meal from my hands.
>She's still sitting in the other room, but she was able to grab it. That's how incredible my wife is. I'm so happy to have her.
>Later that night, we wind down for bed.
>Laying down beside her, I find myself lost her eyes. Her perfect, beautiful eyes.

>"O-Okay..." it replied.

>"Hiding. Trying to escape into the wilderness," it replied to your mind in a skittish fashion.

>The creature went into its thoughts, like something wasn't adding up.
>"Wait. How can you be so casual about all of this?" it asked in a confused tone.
>"Let's just say you aren't my first run-in with a creature similar to yourself." you replied.
>"What do you mean by that?" it inquired further.
>"Isn't that obvious? A Pokemon with human intelligence." you stated.
>"Now I want to know if you were human at any point in your life." you continued.

I agree with main writefag's assessment - Cacturneanon having been mind controlled by his wife ever since she transformed and now he's a dark type is a super interesting premise. The two of them are gonna be a VERY interesting conversation...

>>58207541
Your feelings are valid, protag. You were just treated like a leper by your own family - abject misery is a natural response. In my experience, reminding yourself how good you've got it in comparison to somebody else never works. It'd be better to lean in to your body's desire to stay in motion and go do something. Maybe you'll run into Kat again.

>>58207734
Mmm. I dunno, man, I'm kinda getting the sense there might’ve been problems in protag's family even before all this started. I'll give them a pass for not thinking rationally under the circumstances, but even outside of that there's a detectable self-centred edge to their behaviour, the mum seems a little bit controlling, and the dad seems like he might have anger issues. Maybe you can blame everything on panic, but equally I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be the sort of couple who maintains a wholesome facade for social reasons, rather than being genuinely wholesome.

>>58207631
Maybe copanon can point out to the Noivern that it wasn't really an attack so much as hunger pangs that got out of hand.

There are some Legendaries/Mythicals that don't really feel all that legendary or mythical. Guys like Zeraora and Marshadow aren't really playing in the same league as Groudon and Solgaleo. Makes them a lot easier to justify including in a story.

I was wondering how many Pokemon are compatible with the everyday life. If we assume you have to be either "bipedal, tailed form", "bipedal, tailless form", or "with a single pair of wings" and you need to be between (being generous) 7'3" and 3'11". That results in 151 potential options. There are some obvious Pokemon that don't really fit or are missing, but this is a good place to start.

I'd say there's a lot more. Any pokemon with psychic abilities. A lot of four legged pokemon with grasping appendages may have trouble, but a bulbasaur or sylveon could also continue their life without too much adjustment, especially if they can lift themself up on their extra appendages.

This speaks to an inherent problem with >>58209145 's list and indeed any potential list. At the end of the day, the standards for what "compatible with everyday life without too much adjustment" means AND which Pokemon can or cannot meet those standards are entirely arbitrary, and as such will vary from person to person.

Even looking at Lucario, the very centerpiece of these threads, you could easily argue that, judging by their anatomy, a Lucario shouldn't have opposable thumbs and thus shouldn't be able to function in human society. In the end, even though the premise of these threads is "Pokemon in the real world", you're still ultimately just making up your own rules for how this particular piece of fiction is going to work and going with that. And that's fine - that's how all fiction ultimately works. Again, what's important is to remain consistent once you've established something.

Hell, we never even talked about what the Pokemon actually look like in this setting. What's the art style of these stories? Is it like Detective Pikachu with slightly uncanny 3D Pokemon? Are these stories in the same art style in the Pokemon anime? Is it toons awkwardly super-imposed over live action like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Once again I think the answer is probably going to vary from person to person.

It was unfair.
It was Illogical.
It was also exciting.
I knew what I was, yet I resented this fact.
Why this form? Why this... this lesser thing.
I should have been a YukimiBotamon or a Reremon and begin my growth to what would be a Godess on earth.
This transformation, this shift of reality that occurred instead, became the OTHER reality.

I look down again at my yellow fur, my large tail and emaciated form.
Of all things, even if it had to be THIS reality warp, why this form? Why not something more awesome like a legendary or everyone's favorite Charizard?
At least with that, I could be something badass.

When I woke up this morning and suddenly light was even more intense for me than normal. but even if I shut my eyes, I could see. It was like I could perceive the vibrational frequency of matter.
Everything was glowing and pulsing, especially my specially made gaming set it buzzed and hummed with a ghostly life force.
I could see electric current moving like rivers of light in the walls, and I could hear voices all around, some fient and simple, some loud and complex.

I wanted to sleep to let these senses dull into subconscious and be left to my own thoughts, but I had observations that had to be completed first.
I moved my body it was wobbly and unsure, as if it wasn't meant to move much, I shook my large head, but all that did was make all the colors of energy and stuff blur, if i dared open my eyes it was to a squint.
Anything else was like staring at a white screen in pitch black, utterly overwhelming.
I explored my new body more. It was like I had armadillo plates naturally growing like a suit of armor, and it was coated in short fine brown fur. My huge head and very diminished limbs were also coated in the same fine fur, but a bright yellow I had small fox like ears that could hear a pin drop.
I was already hypersensitive to stimuli, which is why I rarely left the apartment.
But this turned my autism to 11 billion.
Digigirl No.58210840 >>58211820
I was very short, probably no more than 3 ft or very close to a meter if i stood on my skeletal legs, and this was from my unassuming 5ft 8 I once was.
My biggest feature besides this bulbus... gargantuan head was a thick tail that I couldn't wag or really move at all.
I knew what this thing holding my consciousness was.
And it enraged me.

I didn't hate the show or games. I just thought they were kid slop compared to my favorite franchise.
Though I did remember thinking the card game was neat as a kid.
And yet here I was, a thing called an Abra, a member of the Kanto region, sitting in a dimly lit apartment, my apartment.
Unchanged, an anomaly in familiar discarded take out and dirty clothes strewn room.
One night, I was sitting in bed thinking about how cool it would be to be a Tamer Kid.
Then I wake up, and my bed is 4x's it's normal size, and my brain feels like it's on fire.

More observation I tell myself, find out everything before I make my next move.
Am I biological? yep, I can feel lungs and heartbeat.
I have tactile senses still, though enhanced I can feel the movement of air on my short fur, my sense of smell is greater now.
and I guess I really have been living total goblin mode cause the smell of decaying food and soiled clothes was everywhere.
I'll take care of that later before it drives me even crazier.

Standing was difficult, but using that huge cumbersome limb stuck to my rear, I could sort of stay upright.
Next check, how biological was I.
Pinching my skin with my near bony fingers, i could feel pain, so I wasn't a machine in some bizarre conciseness. Okay, that checks out.

Next, could it be?
I wobbled to the grimy mirror I used to dress myself for the rare occasions I went outside. I bent over with a bit of difficulty and looked at the base of that huge tail.
Huh... what do you know still anatomical. And even more perplexing whatever changed me was nice enough to not make me Agender or switch it.
Digigirl No.58210853 >>58211820 >>58214411
How curious, would that have been the same if I was a Biyomon or something.
Ah, get that out of your head. You are not going to be like that. It ain't going to be like that, I am what I am now, for whatever reason.

Standing upright again, I stumble like a toddler toward my tablet, news.
I need news.
Is it just me? If it is, what next? If not... well, that question was pretty much the same.

Turning on the device, now comically ovesized, was still easy, just the lock swipe. Immediately, social media.
A few swipes of memes and moronic gossip later and PAYDIRT.

A video of an event that happened about 7 hours ago. A woman was freaking out over a huge red dragonfly buzzing around.
what was the name of that thing again...
More swipes, eevees so many eevees pets suddenly changed.
So it wasn't just me.
More.

I was so excited my mind was buzzing I didn't even realize that I was swiping without even touching.
Oh yeah, I guess I can do that.
I'll practice later, I must see more.

A very popular video, literally hundreds of thousands of views.
A blue seal splashed in a kiddy pool, the kid in the recording talking to it, saying it was his sister.

Next video, another popular one.
A super shaky cam of a fight in some small town between a huge metallic looking kaiju and a blue anthropomorphic dog zipping around it. Now I knew what that one was. Hell, I think anyone my age knew a Lucario when they saw it. it won the fight, walks over to the camera, and snatched it away before the video ended.
He he too late doggy, that was livestreamed.
That was enough.

Pokemon are real now, I am one, they are everywhere.
I didn't wake up as a Tamer or even a Misumon.
So now what...?
My mind is awash in so much thought it's like my ADHD is on turbo.
Have to focus, have to meditate, like for real.

Tell me what you think.
Now that I am no longer thinking about death I'll see where I can go with this idea of an outsider thrown into this new world.

I think that making it take place in an unnamed city somewhere is fine enough, although what I had in mind at the moment isn't taking place in the same city as most of the other ongoing stories. I should have a bit more time to write stuff next week, so I was thinking of actually writing out a story around that whole ''guy gets turned into a Pokemon and STILL has to go to work on a daily basis'' idea that I had a while back. It's pretty nice thinking of things in that scenario. Even though I guess I should be really mindful about how much time has passed since the first case, because we are one month in at this point? I suppose I could mention before each part how many days or weeks it was after the first transformation or how many days or weeks it was before the present day of the other stories, considering that quite a lot has happened in said month.

>Say, did you speak to yourself out loud before turning? You asked.
>"Okay, now you're starting to scare me," it replied.
>"I wanted to know how this telepathy thing works. It either worked by using your ability to speak, or you were able to not think for prolonged periods of time to hide it," you said.
>"Anyway. Do you want to stay in this shed, or do you maybe want to continue our conversation inside? It is surprisingly cold for this time of year." You said.
>The creature clearly didn't know how to approach your offer.
>"I don't trust you," the Noivern replied.
>"Fair, I pointed a gun at you after all. You are completely justified in not trusting me. But if you want any help in your current situation, then I'm very much willing to help." You turned around and started going towards your house.
>Possibly it didn't have contact with the outside world like the Salazzle. And the fact it wanted to escape into the wilderness for whatever reason.

>"Hunger and fear mostly. I had a week's worth of food at my house. Unfortunately, most of it was inedible for me, and the thought of eating those things made me physically recoil. I >ate some fruits, vegetables, and meat, but that wasn't really much. I tried suppressing my hunger with coffee, but that only made me throw up."

>When she first started the "fad diet" she insisted she wasn't sick a lot for someone who looked perfectly healthy.
>Behind her illusion, she was probably having a lot of trouble finding something she could eat.
>I brought her a lot of strange items before she tried this brand and stuck with it.

>Well, you weren't freaking out.
>There was still another hole in the wall now, though.
>You were pulled away from pensively gazing at yourself by a rumbling stomach. The more things changed...
>You'd kind of sauntered heedlessly towards the kitchen, both pairs of arms outstretched and gaze languidly drifting between them.
>Your thoughts still came sluggishly, but you noticed how your eye was drawn almost inexorably to each upper arm.
>An opinion on at least one aspect of this situation was just starting to solidify when you noticed one of your hands had clipped something on a side table.
>You managed to reel back in time to prevent anything from crashing to the floor, but then you heard a distressing crunch and felt resistance against the opposite hand that quickly abated.
>Reluctantly, you turned.
>Sure enough, your hand was straight through the damn wall.
>Sighing, more out of sympathy for your poor, poor wallet than anything else, you retrieved the offending appendage and curled your hands in front of you as best you could the rest of the way.
>You handled getting a kitchen cupboard open gingerly.
>Having to do everything with two hands at once made things difficult.
>You managed it without breaking anything else, though.
>Then you got a bit ahead of yourself in your excitement at seeing the box of cereal.
>The cardboard crumpled under your grip. The bag exploded like Popeye's spinach and sent cereal in every direction.
>You could only grimace and flinch away, not wanting crumbs in your eyes.
>Why had everything in here been made so fragile?
>A Machamp would sure never build anything so sloppy!
>...what?
>You shook your head. Food first.

>Glancing awkwardly from side-to-side, you shrugged, then tilted your head back, lifted the half-ruined box over your head, and allowed whatever remained inside to pour into your wide open mouth.
>Might've still been a whole pound in there, but you held the whole lot in your mouth and chewed it like it was nothing.
>Your new face scrunched up a bit - it tasted like chemicals and stale cardboard.
>Well, more than usual.
>But it'd do for now. Barely.
>Milk. You needed it.
>You opened the fridge extremely, EXTREMELY carefully. If you damaged THAT there'd be Hell to pay.
>Getting the milk out wasn't TOO bad provided you employed utmost concentration, but getting the cap off felt like an exercise in theoretical physics.
>Probably why milk wound up dented, knocked over, and poured out over the counter.
>Probably why it wound up further poured all over the floor as you hastened to get the carton back upright and tip what remained down your throat before it was all wasted.
>Cold. Fresh. Only a mild bite of some sort of artificial sick.
>And then you slipped over on the milk and now soggy cereal covering the floor.
>It didn't really hurt, but by the time your world stopped spinning you noted that the back of your head WAS through one of the lower cupboard doors now, your head resting against a freshly dented saucepan.
>Great.
>It was at that point, starring up at the ceiling feeling VERY sorry for yourself indeed, that you came to a decision.
>You weren't moving until you figure out how to make each arm move on its own.
>All four arms lifted up in front of you and you starred at them.

>Staring into the mirror, you sighed.
>You didn’t need to open your mouth to smell it.
>Sure, your diet was healthy.
>But you hadn’t taken your dental hygiene seriously since changing.
>Breathe in…
>Breathe out…
>You did it again, this time only using your mouth.
>Eugh…
>Yeah.
>Didn’t matter if this was a serious problem or just your better sense of smell going haywire.
>This was a problem.
>Hopefully, lucario had strong enamel.
>You pulled a cheek wide with a finger, looking further into your mouth.
>Your mouth smelled like a warzone.
>Bad enough to take your mind off your recent argument.
>Which was nice.
>Not so nice when it was all you thought about on your run was halitosis.
>Cats and dogs always seemed to have stronger teeth.
>And were unbothered.
>How much of that was them being unable say they had a terrible toothache?
>Time to start again.
>It took three tries to grab the brush.
>Your paw-hands weren’t ideal for this.
>Your “thumb” only bent so far inward.
>Not as opposable as it used to be.
>This was too small to grip that way.
>Sliding it between two digits kept it somewhat steady.
>But it was too loose.
>The brush slid through your fingers after an experimental tap on the counter.
>Maybe if you taped this to something sturdy, like a doorframe…
>Just rub your teeth over it, only moving your head…
>No, no, no…
>The thought was dehumanizing.

>The motion was supremely strange.
>This otherwise simple task was monumentally difficult and tired your arms.
>Smacking your lips, you brought your face closer to the mirror and inspected your pearly whites.
>It paid off, there was notably less gunk and they seemed a little cleaner.
>The next step disquieted you more than the act of grabbing the toothbrush.
>A lot of flavors disgusted you now.
>And this mint.
>This was a strong peppermint.
>Your sinuses cleared the instant the cap came off.
>Not unpleasant.
>But incredibly strong.
>Patting the tube, you gently squeezed a dollop out.
>It landed on the edge of the brush, then gravity pulled it to the counter.

>Coldness spread down your tongue, and the roof of your mouth felt like you’d bitten a snowball.

>You’d need a weaker mint.
>Or better yet, something else.
>They had berry toothpaste, right?
>Children toothpaste had flavors adult toothpaste didn’t have.
>This would, unfortunately, also mean going into a store where people were.
>And unchecked, rampant emotions filled the ether...
>The mint must do.
>A second attempt also missed the brush.
>You didn’t try a third.
>Gripping the toothbrush, you swiped it over the counter to scoop up the missed paste.
>Hardly sanitary, but this had already taken enough of your time.
>All you had to do was…
>Not think about it.
>You started brushing.

>"Here, eat," you offered your entire fruit bowl to the Noivern.
>It looked confused but thankfully not like it was on the brink of starvation.
>"Thank you," it said before starting to eat.
>The Noivern must have been starving, as it devoured the fruit more like an animal than a human.
>You started doing math in your head about how much food a Noivern would need.
>Flying is very energy intensive, so a Noivern must have a very demanding metabolism by default.
>And considering this one didn't have the best landing in your backyard, it was either tired, weakened, or very new to flying.
>The fact that it even tried to suppress hunger with coffee told you that it most likely ran out of edible food very early on.
>You continued sipping tea from your cup while observing the creature eat.
>Not much was really left in the bowl beyond some apple cores and banana peels.
>"Thank you again," said the creature after finishing its 3 in the morning snack.
>"No problem," you replied.
>"Now who are you?" you asked?
>The question seemed to have hit a nerve, as the relatively calm Pokemon became agitated.
>"Who am I? I have a better question. Who the hell are you?! You pointed a gun at me, psychologically profiled me, and told me to play along with your telepathy experiment. What do you >want from me?!" Said the noivern while taking a more defensive posture.
>"If you want to know, I'm a police officer who wants to help you," you said calmly while sipping tea while feeling your heart rate increase.
>"Bullshit. You want to sell me off to the feds," it said angrily.
>"And your proof being?" you said while your eyes wandered over to your taser and gun.

>It had a hard time trusting you, and if you didn't do anything now, it could end badly for one or both of you.
>"You are misconstruing my intentions here," you said calmly.
>"Yeah, it is me who isn't open about their intentions here. You are the one cowering in fear, not me," replied the Noivern in a mocking tone.
>"If I wanted to shoot you, I'd have done it when you were in the shed. If I wanted you alive, I'd use my taser. My heart is not beating because my "master plan" has gone up in smoke. It is beating because you are inherently dangerous, and you are behaving aggressively towards me," you said in a more authoritative manner.
>You were considering using a taser but remembered that light is capable of calming Noiverns down.
>With a quick move of your hand, you turned the light back on.
>The Noivern recoiled and hid its head beneath its wing.
>"Do you understand that?" You asked the now terrified creature.
>"Y-Yes. I-I understand," said the Noivern in a submissive way.
>"Now if you really want me to help you, you will cooperate; if not, feel free to fuck right off to your house or the nearest forest; the door is right there," you said in a tone meant to force cooperation.
>"P-Please. Help me, I-I don't want to die," said the creature with a tone close to bursting into tears.
>"I'm not going to sell you out, so please calm down and let me help you," you said calmly.
>"C-could you turn the lights back off?" the Noivern requested.
>"Fine. But if you pull another stunt like that, those lights are going to get turned on again. Understand?"
>"Y-Yes..."
>You didn't like how this encounter was going.

>"Now what?" He asked.
>"Now I will need to ask you about why you flew away from your home." you said.
>"Didn't I answer that one already? I was afraid and hungry." he said with slight irritation.
>"Yes I know that, but I need to know the deeper reason." you replied.
>"Deeper reason?" he inquired.
>"Yes. What I mean is if that decision felt to you like your rational human mind told you to or if it was something more primal," you stated.
>"I don't exactly understand." he replied.
>"Ehh... I had a case with someone who turned into a Pokemon previously. Said individual behaved as human as possible but in moments of stress would act out in more like an animal would have acted," you brought up the case of the Salazzle as an example.
>"I get it now... But I'm not sure... It kind of feels like both were the case," he said while gathering his thoughts between the sentences.
>"What do you mean by that?" You asked him to explain.
>"I had the desire to escape somewhere, maybe fly to some friends or family members, but the back of my mind told me that the wilderness was a safer place. It made sense to me in a way. I didn't know I had telepathy at that point and didn't know if they would recognize me and not just call the police, feds, or whatever on me. The forest also seemed like the best way to get food, even if I didn't know how to forage for it or hunt. It felt... Instinctive yet at the same time logical." He said.

>Starring intently at your upper right hand, you must have flexed and unflexed the fingers in perfect unison with the lower dozens of times before you saw even the slightest, nigh-imperceptible desynchronization.
>Only sheer need... maybe even full-blown desperation... had kept you going that long, but like everything, the first step was the hardest.
>With each desynchronized motion, the lower arm lagged the upper arm's movement more and more. Almost unconsciously, your focus began to drift. To split.
>Your lower arm moved in the opposite direction to the upper.
>You tried it with your left arms.
>It only took one dozen tries this time.
>You wiggled the fingers like Baymax.
>You made finger guns and made your four hands shoot at each other.
>It was like a snowball rolling downhill, every success at integrating these new appendages building momentum.

>Things shifted at some point. Clicked.
>Right around the time you were able to make the upper hand punch the palm of the lower hand on the opposite side.
>Almost like these "new" limbs had, in fact, always been there.
>Well, they HAD always been there.
>...umm, no?
>You shook your head.
>Alright, you couldn't stay here anymore - inaction was messing with your head.
>Or at least that's what you told yourself.
>You made to find your enormous, two-toed feet.
>Ironically, your improved but imperfect control over your arms actually made this more difficult.
>Having to adjust for the subtle shifts in your center of gravity from all four limbs moving independently of each other, plus the slippery floor, saw you spill forwards.
>You didn't shatter the countertop upon slamming all four of your hands into it, but you were quite sure that wasn't GOOD for it.
>It was a bit of a fight to get back to the bathroom while staying upright.
>You almost crashed into something again when you got distracted tilting your upper right forearm up and down, watching the muscles flex instead of where you were going.
>But you made it back in front of the mirror without further incident.
>You saw yourself for the first time.
>Not merely seeing, or tentatively accepting, but actually LOOKING.
>Actually admiring.
>Every inch of swole, toned frame.
>Every subtle movement of cut, perfect muscle.
>You couldn't help it - you flexed all four of your biceps.
>A rush like you'd never felt before.
>Not just confidence, but radiating power - an inner light that made you somehow weightless and yet immovable at the same time.
>Like you could punch through a wall.
>No, a mountain!

>Already intoxicated by this feeling, you tried something more advanced.
>You swung your lower arms down, making the fists meet in front of your abdomen, and stretched your upper arms far above your head at the same time, one upper hand grabbing the other upper arm's wrist.
>It wasn't truly at the same time - you sort of had to awkwardly will one action and then the other right after.
>Still getting used to this.
>The effect was the same though - that feeling of inner power shining even stronger, bathing you in the warmth of something you'd never felt before - complete and total self-assurance.
>Wait, no, you'd totally felt this before!
>...no you hadn't.
>Whatever. You turned sideways a bit and curled your lower arm tight in front of yourself.
>You gave yourself a smug wink.
>Oooh, you LIKED that...
>The only reason you stopped wasn't out of any fear that things might be getting TOO narcissistic, but because of a sudden, intractable revelation - something you couldn't THINK of resisting because every fibre of your new being was screaming it at you.
"I'e GOH-A 'ehh umunn a-oww kih!"
>The revelation that you couldn't make half the sounds the English language with this beak-like mouth (in hindsight that definitely hadn't helped the milk situation either) came at the exact same time you unthinkingly hammered your fists on the vanity in your excitement and the throes of a decision made, the tremendous bang of something giving way the thing to shake you from your self-aggrandizing stupor and actually bring you back to reality.
>Your reaction both to the linguistic revelation and to the massive crack now running through the vanity top (fortunately, the basin itself appeared as if it would still run and hold water. Small victories) was one and the same...
>Well, THAT wasn't good...

Having since caught up, the way Ben is having a much harder time resolving the human and the Pokemon into a cohesive whole than anybody else is fascinating, and hard to read in a good way. Certainly nothing like the silky-smooth transition you get from bipedal humanoid to tiny quadrupedal starter in Mystery Dungeon proper. Part of it might be that complacency again, maybe even a degree of denial he hasn't confronted yet. The starvation probably isn't helping either. Now that he's been forced to (literally) learn the first thing about being a Pokemon, and actually take some action, one hopes he may find a way to take proper control over the "zone" and not have to resort to this clearly flawed instinctual auto-pilot he's been relying on.

There was a Mystery Dungeon supplement for Pokerole that saw you having to balance your Instinct against your Logic. If your Logic ever reached zero, your human personality would be subsumed, leaving only the original Pokemon in its place, but increasing your Instinct at the cost of Logic would allow you to unlock incredible, day-saving levels of power. That kinda feels like where bro's headspace is at right now.

The thing is, though, this was a terrible supplement because that is manifestly NOT how getting stronger as a Pokemon works at all. For a Pokemon to become truly strong takes intense training and dedication - less a werewolf-like atavism and more akin to eastern cultivation if anything. We've also seen instances of even the most naturally exceptional Pokemon failing to reach their full potential due to a lack of that dedication (looking at you Ash's Charizard), often manifesting in the games as an insufficient bond between trainer and Pokemon (Blue, Silver, Colress, etc.). So if Ben truly makes a go of this, he's going to have to find it within himself to cultivate mastery, as letting the instincts run as they may can only ever take him so far.

Copanon is a credit to the badge. From what we're getting, I don't think Derek is THAT dangerous - he just needs an environment where the lighting is low enough to be comfortable but high enough to keep his instincts from running away with him. Then he can learn to take charge over his Pokemon form in peace. Copanon might be looking at a new roommate for a little while...

This is certainly quite different from my conception of aura - I've never considered that a Lucario would be able to suck out an enemy's soul through his urethra - but it's definitely very interesting. Considering gods, souls, ghosts, the afterlife, and other such tomfoolery are all objective, measurable facts in Pokemon's universe, understanding a Pokemon's abilities through a religious lens really isn't much of a stretch - I'm just hoping protag's little "a god am I" moment here doesn't wind up leading to problems later. Try to follow regular Superman's example and not Injustice Superman's - granted that might be harder with protag getting estranged from his parents.

>You decided to relocate to the living room, as that place had some lamps that could have their brightness adjusted.
>"Is this ok?" you asked the Noivern, trying to find the brightness sweet spot.
>"Y-Yes... This is fine..." he replied.
>"Ok. I think you should fly back home. I'm going to drive to your home during job hours and try to help with your PC and/or phone," you suggested.
>"That might be a problem..." Derek said.
>"Why?" you inquired.
>"I-I'm afraid of heights..." he replied, ashamed.
>"But you flew here," you said in a confused tone.
>"Yes, b-but..." he stuttered out.
>"But?" you inquired further.
>"I-I don't know how I did it... It felt like I wasn't in control when I flew. When I regained my grasp on the situation, I crash-landed in your backyard. In a way it felt like breathing. You don't think about doing it until you do think about it, and then you are breathing manually," he said, trying to capture the feeling.
>You were curious how it worked on a psychological level.
>It seemed that the human and pokemon parts of him were interacting with each other.
>You remembered watching a YouTube video about separating brain hemispheres and how people acted afterward.
>Maybe this was something similar?
>You didn't really know how, as you were neither a psychologist, psychiatrist, nor neurologist, and all of this was way above your pay grade.
>On the side, you wanted to slap Derek for making you breathe manually.
>"Do you think you could try flying again?"
>"I don't know if I could do it."
>"Fine then. You can stay here for the rest of the night. I'm going to drive you to your house then." you said.
>"Can't you drive me there now?" he asked, confused about the entire ordeal.
>"You seem to have a house with a garage, so I assumed you have a car." he followed up.
>"Well, I do have a car, but it is temporarily... unavailable," you said.
>"Like broken?" He asked.

What's your conception of aura? Anything you'd recommend I touch on or think about?
What I wrote came (sorta) from the Lucario movie finale. Doctor Lucario performs an emergency aura transfusion on Mew to save it and the big tree, at the cost of giving his own life.
Having it work the other way, taking aura away and using it to amplify attacks, felt like an appropriate offensive use. Pulling it out like a vampire (temporarily, for less than a second) to send it back at the opponent.

>The noivern followed you and stuck his head out of the door to look at the creature.
>As expected, the Snorlax was still there.
>Sleeping.
>Digesting.
>Blocking your driveway.
>The confused Noivern backed off from the giant mountain of lard back into the confines of your house.
>"Relax. Despite how it looks, it is harmless," you said.
>"How long has that thing been there?" he asked.
>"Since the Aggron attack a few days ago," you replied.
>You closed the door behind you, behind lock and key, and returned to the discussion.
>"So. I'm staying here?" asked Derek.
>"For a couple of hours, yes," you replied.
>"If you want to go to sleep, feel free to take the couch. I also have a set of pull-up bars in the doorway so you could hang off of them," you continued.
>"Why would I hang off of them?" he asked, confused.
>"I don't know. You look particularly bat-like, so I assumed you might like sleeping upside down," you answered.
>"Okay..." he replied in a way that was like you were trying to insult him, but he wasn't sure.
>"Anyway, there is the toilet if you need it. I assume you still know how to make use of it," you said while pointing with your finger to the toilet door.
>"Are you going to go to sleep as well?" he asked.
>"No. My shift starts in, like, 3 hours, and I can't really fall asleep after this whole ordeal. I'm going to probably waste time watching some movie or playing some games. At least I've got an excuse," you stated.
>"Ever since I turned, my sleep schedule has been inverted. Sleeping during the day and wide awake during the night. And as of now I'm not really that sleepy," he stated.
>"Anyway, I'm going to watch a movie. Time for that streaming subscription to finally pay off. I've beenonlywatching news chanels lately."
>"If you want, feel free to join," you offered.

I promise this is gonna happen but it's gonna take a little bit longer.
>werewolf-like atavism
I'm thinking the zone less like him going feral and more like him going Pokemon. Letting the parts of his mind that make Machamp think he always had four arms or Lucario think he had a pack take over (or the part of Derek that just let him fly). Maybe I should make that part of him more talkative.

Not really. I haven't seen the film, so you clearly have a more lore-accurate understanding than I do. The way I write my Lucario OC, aura is specifically created by emotion, which means that non-Pokemon animals have weaker auras and plants have almost none. His sixth sense registers various emotions as a dizzying array of different colours (which for Riolu come in greyscale), with the motion and inclination of an aura giving further clues as to a being's mental state. Rio (I know, I know) is empathic, but not telepathic. His Aura Sphere is borne from his own emotions, kind of like how Starfire's powers work. He also can't see his own aura, like how we can't see our own eyeballs.
