This is a family tree I constructed.
Please note that characters who first appear the movie are in this family tree because their character designs have yet to be depicted in a game.

They attempted Bananza to unify the DK and Mario storylines, since up to then they were off in their own little worlds that didn't seem connected. K. Rool has been to New Donk City and interacted with Pauline, who interacted with Mario.

But they create more questions than answers. They should have just made a sequel, and have it be Pauline Jr.
