My thought is that Japanese doesn't have a native word for "orange", they loadword it from English (orenji). It's like how "green" is sometimes called "blue" in some contexts. Yellow orange (his approximate color most of the time) is technically just a light orange, but due to limited vocabulary in this instance, sometimes he's called yellow instead, and this can lead to miscommunication with artists.
