The entirety of Sword Route was her trying to get a rise out of Kris. As the track says, she wants to see BURNING EYES. She's trying to push all of Kris' buttons to get them riled up and willing to fight. When they finally give her that, she stops, says they can't hide their passion to "play" and then gives them an armor that specifically will work against them in the next fight so it can go long enough to chip off another Shadow Crystal and a better weapon for Kris to fight the coming things.
ERAM also uses a ton of stuff referenced in Noelle's game blog. That makes sense here too, it was Dess in the past trying to connect with/mess with Noelle the only way she could. But the Dess of now is clearly so far gone she's even willing to joke about the SOUL basically mindraping her sister. Hell, she may even be involved. We never do find out where Spamton got the ThornRing from.
