anyway, I leveled a guy to 30 to start chromie time in cataclysm zones but before I start I wanted to watch and read through cataclysm promotional stuff to hype myself. part of that includes this: https://web.archive.org/web/20120207214417/http://www.worldofwarcraft.com:80/cataclysm/features/ and it's just pure soul.

been playing hearthstone all day, everything they added this update is so ass except the xally cosmetics. weird to see them shilling current mainline WoW stuff outside of cards, usually they just do a card set or add a skin of someone that's way past the time they're relevant. anyone I'm shamefully dropping at least 45 bucks on the diamond xally skin and the alleria bartender skin.

very. just a big pit in my stomach thinking about the fact that there's two years of just nothing interesting in the next expansion. housing sounds boring, I barely play DH and it going to a race I don't play means nothing, haranir is the third unappealing race in a row that'll hang around in the bottom tiers of player use (at least earthen were fair, not interesting but not bad either, just very forgettable). I didnt want to skip another expansion but I can't justify the gorillion bucks for FOMO trinkets and nothing else afterwards. they did snuff out our hopes quickly once we saw the mediocre cinematic at least.
really it's just maddening that blizzard can't even do the simplest thing and either crap out another dual faction race but for something people wanted or at the very very least give alliance void elf #2 and horde a slightly fatter troll to shut up both sides, they just HAD to feed their egos and add their donut steel oc as a race, their need to gravitate to their new lore additions over older things is just pathetic and very telling of where their minds are at.. somehow this is more insulting than dracthyr, and they still have a whole class to their ugly asses.

don't even get me started on remix not letting people get the mage tower stuff, if all you offer is recolors to still obtainable mounts and sets, ONE new cosmetic set, and varian's swords but puke colored then why should anyone bother? how would this retain player counts for the downtime between now and midnight? barely anything is offered to make the first step and very little to keep us in.

everything has been said already so I'll just say that I fucking despise haranir with all my heart. fucking worthless race slot. so sick of blizzard devs huffing their own farts and choosing their own original garbage over what their consumers want solely because of their own ego.

I didnt care much for ethereals, high elves, amani, or satyr but fuck all those are perfectly fine. maybe if their donut steel oc troll elf guys weren't hairy fat pigs I'd be neutral to them. I'm just sick of this downward trend of races. the BFA ones were super hit or miss, dracthyr are butt ugly furfag bait and devoured an entire class, earthen are so basic and lazy, and now we get yet another elf race that couldn't even be somewhat appealing to look at. I already puke in my mouth seeing vulpera, dracthyr, and m*g'h*r, I don't need another ugly race to encounter every blue moon. I doubt the lore they'r going to get will be anywhere near interesting so I'm sure after shitnight they'll be forgotten just like earthen are about to be.

consider the karesh release sort of just flushing out TWW's plot lines. When metzen came back he changed whatever the story was at the time and TWW was already halfway through with the old story, that's why everything was so random and disjointed. Apparently starting where we already were is how they want to set up midnight, they just wanted to dump whatever they already had without continuing it which is why so many characters either did nothing or left quickly in TWW.
First 1/3rd of TWW was just whatever they had and altered some of it so they wouldn't have to be held accountable to finish whatever they no longer wanted to write, second 1/3rd was undermine and who knows what they originally was supposed to be so it was altered enough to feel like a random adventure, and the last 1/3rd was either underdeveloped or just not existent when metzen came back so it was entirely void stuff like what midnight is going to be.
World soul saga feels like a lie, it seems like the real story is whatever midnight and the last titan is and that TWW was just sunk cost fallacy with what they had already created so they just had to pump out something without screwing up what metzen wants to do in the future.
If midnight ends up being just as dumb then disregard this and assume it was always just blizz writers being dumb and not even realizing TWW walked a narrative circle because they don't know how to create a multi part story.

I cannot recall the last time I saw another player have a battle pet following them. genuinely the least used collectable thing in the game despite having an entire mini game for them. I've seen more of the effects you get from pvp than pets.

god it feels nice finally kicking the fomo habit, makes you pick out from all the mounts and pets from the game to actually enjoy using a select few and letting you decide if new shit is worth wasting time for. plus not feeling like you need grind m+ crap or weird side shit like dastardly duos is a plus, can just focus on doing what I like doing. playing content from ten years ago now has never felt so refreshing!

how did shadowlands and BFA get some of the best looking zones in modern wow? questing in ardenweald or drustvar was awesome to explore and enjoy. dragonflight had some nice spots too but it felt sterile in most other parts, maybe it's when the devs take big risks in the story it gets reflected in the rest of the development and we end up getting knockouts like ardenweald or straight poop like the maw.

I remember being heartbroken after getting light forged but seeing what getting playable shitskin orcs did to the lore.
in my mind's eye BFA instead went with the au orcs and draenei learning to live together and end up going against the ogre empire, when BFA happens the au ogres are being decimated and begging for forgiveness from our horde, horde lets them in for the sake of pumping up their numbers while getting a completely subservient race of former enemies. alliance finds out and tries to even the odds with au draenei joining only for the mag'har to reluctantly support them. mag'har sees the state of the horde and knows sylvanas is a crazy bitch, wanting to save the people that saved them in the past they work with the alliance. this ends up with ailed mag'har for alliance (orc reskin made a little better by the gimmick of being aliance) while horde finally gets playable ogres while explaining in universe why they didn't have playable ogres before. blizzard gets off scot free with doing the bare minimum for both races by saying au ogres are nearly dead therefore you won't see many relevant npcs for them and mag'har orcs are generally conflicted about the whole thing so not too many of them appear as relevant npcs either. oh and of course yrel becomes a reoccurring main character for alliance and we get a bonus draenei starting option for people wanting to have the fantasy of being a au draenei instead of regular.
