It was only forced into this position due to a combination of autism from people who wanted to truly optimize Pokemon games, and TPC seeing yet another venue by which they can milk EVEN MORE money out of the consumer by tapping into this niche audience of dedicated autists who want to be the Pogaymanz World Champeen, so they push them to compete in VGC online so they can have the balls to qualify in the regionals of their area, and then the big event itself, all for the sake of advertising and selling exclusive merchandise to them on top of all the fees that translate into even more fat stacks that go right into Ishihara's pockets.
Anyone who gives a sincere flying fuck about competitive outside of fucking around with friends or in a novelty format is an absolute fool.
