IIRC there was a "soft reset" a few seasons ago but that was also around the time of (I think, don't quote me) when Arcane S1 was in development so they were probably prepping for a resurgance of people logging back onto old accounts, realizing they're still honor level 0, and then going to their next account.
My king-for-a-day fix is to start linking accounts to phone numbers like every other fucking company on the planet. People can make as many accounts as they want under one phone number, but a penalty to one account affects ALL accounts. If they aren't going to reset the MMR then they need to start putting a lot more importance and emphasis on the quality of the games and socially engineering people to actually fucking try.
>why?
Because it's far, far too easy right now after 20 fucking years for the average player to have at least 3, if not far more, accounts that they can rotate through if one account is "doomed" or is subject to some voodoo superstitious bullshit. They need to put the sting back into dedicating yourself to 20+ minutes of gameplay, that's around the average time of a fucking Halo or CoD match so I don't get the fucking haters.
>hur dur but but but snowballing
Is an issue, yes. No, I don't have a solution, but the amount of people quite literally giving the fuck up after 8 minutes because the score is 0/4 and they LEAVE (not afk, not soft int, I mean *leave*) to "go next account" is fucking insane and has no place.
It's almost like Riot is worried about some unseen nebulous amorphous faceless -thing- just floating out there in the ether that if they start cracking down a little bit on a few things that they'll lose 8 gorillion dollars. There's 5 billion fucking chinese faggots and 3 billion not-chinese faggots who have played since 2010 onwards who will not quit this game even if you fucking paid them.
Reset the MMR, add a phone requirement (you've already added a kernel level spyware system what's one more step.
