not to sound dismissive but hockey ain't big here.
which is a negative feedback loop of:
>not much interest
>not many look into it
>not many play it
>the intra-country by extension do not have harsh competition
>the winner team by extension is not very good due to little competition
>the team that outcompeted the others by extent is not really the tippy top there could be
>thusly expanding the logic, the unpopular sport has a low octane team playing for its nation.
brazil has a big football culture though and so does germany.
so both teams give their all to have their nation's greatest compete for whateverthefuck's on the line.
that is why a defeat hurts more when you really try.
but i dont think hockey's one of those sports.
