My ex used to work for one of the show's producers and apparently they were fucking livid when Ellen did this because they cast her specifically to appeal to the guys like OP that thought she was cute and knew the ratings would plummet because she's sickening to look at now. Now they have to include language in actors' contracts that prevents them from doing insane shit like this while they're in the middle of filming a fucking season.
Not to mention it also makes her character seem like a self-centered asshole for caring about her gender identity while they're in the middle of trying to prevent the world from being destroyed.
