If you just want to get to Deltarune, if you want to get the best ending, just remember that there's a way to save everybody. After that it's up to you.

I noticed something *very* interesting on chapter 4, maybe it had signs earlier but IDK--
When you play the piano, the dialogue is "your hands are moving on their own" or something like that. Obviously, it's not that "my" hands are moving on their own, it's that Kris was moving *his* hands. So, this implies that whenever "you" appears in that sort of narration, it is indeed talking about you, the player. This throws every sort of "you feel" "you think" etc. narration into question, is that what Kris is really feeling, or is that just what the game (gaster?) wants us to think/feel?

You don't actually need to run the game 3 times. If you just do a pacifist ending you can reload your save and have access to the true pacifict ending, then you can do genocide after if you want. So you really play the game 2 times and experience an epilogue (if you do the true pacifist route). Plus the genocide run is both narratively and gameplay wise very different from a normal playthrough

There are things about Chapter 1 that I like better than the other chapters, but on a technical level, it feels like a demo compared to what comes next. One thing I didn't like about Chapter 1 is you get the "go back and say goodbye to everyone" moment at the end of the game like you do in Undertale, but because it was so short I didn't feel like it was necessary and it felt pretty underwhelming. Chapter 2 then made me realize it was really wasn't necessary and 2-4 do something else instead which feels better.

I know people joke about Asgore's role in Undertale a lot but he's very interesting in how he's presented and its difficult to know how much of it is intentional lamp shading versus not very good writing.

Asgore killed those kids, man, and he was about to kill you. Like, he already did that shit. He murdered them. I know this at least permeates in the subconscious of the community, but like, it feels like more respect was lost for Toriel over the scene in Chapter 4 than Asgore's entire backstory in Undertale. People still root for the guy despite having the blood of children on his hands due to his entirely poor planning and negligence.

The more I think about it, the more incredibly likely it is that he's directly responsible for Dess and it will not be sugarcoated.

My guess is that a lot of people still sees Asgore action, as messed up as they were, as him trying to work for the greater good.
He didn't wanted to go to war or kill more people, and he also feared monster kind would gets destroyed by humanity even with power. So he did what he thought was the best, even if it was cowardly.

Undertale Asgore is not Deltarune Asgore. Undertale Toriel is not Deltarune Toriel. People root for Deltarune Asgore because what we know about him is that he is a good dad and that he is desperately in love with his ex-wife, to the point that it is is a detriment to his case. He's a bit on the pathetic side, but he's hardly evil (so far). Deltarune Toriel, meanwhile, is built up to be a kind mother figure for Kris AND Susie, even if she is a little oblivious to Kris' distress. The reason the dance scene is so damning is because it shines a harsher light on her role as Kris' mother - inviting a strange man into their house and getting wasted all alone with him is a terrible, awful thing for a mother to do to her child. It is very implied that Dess' disappearance was what caused Asgore to leave the police and Toriel to divorce him. If you pay attention to Tenna's flashback when the Dreemurs and the Holidays are gathered together, the first one to disappear is Dess, followed by Asgore, but considering both Rudy and Carol are still in friendly terms with him, they surely realized that it wasn't truly his fault, but he most likely still took the blame of it even if it meant ruining his marriage. You could definitely call Undertale Asgore a flawed leader driven by emotion, but Deltarune Asgore is a great dad, a great friend and shines with hope and optimism that he will be able to reconquer Toriel before Asriel comes back, and added to that the fact that he will be a pivotal character in Chapter 5, since it's more than likely that the next Dark World will be in his shop and he carries the last Shadow Crystal.

On the other hand, Toriel is not a good character in Deltarune, she might be a very kind woman and mother, but the way she treats Asgore borders on disgusting while she's constantly avoiding him, and then her cancelling choir practice without even telling Kris, going to hang out with Sans and then not caring that she was piss drunk by the time Kris and Susie arrived really hurt her image. You could even see how both Kris and Susie turned their heads away awkwardly, and even after she leaves, Kris still doesn't want to look at her, which was fair after all the shit they went through at the church, they only wanted to rest yet those two kept partying the whole night.

The only reason why Kris can seal the fountains is because the soul is possessing him, which is why from the very beginning he tells Susie that only Kris can seal them. Remember that there's also Chapter 4, he tells (You) to see what Susie is doing so he can leave and scout for more prophecy windows because he knows that Kris also knows that Susie must not find out at any cost.

The Soul is what even allowed anything to happen to that point. The Soul defended people, banished the dark with Jackington, eliminated the threats with the Titan, empowered their busters, defended Susie so she could even get to the end, likely made her win versus Gerson to begin with. And it sealed 3 fountains before chapter 4 and they sure as shit weren't sealing the fourth without Your Soul.

I'm not stupid or a moron, the Soul has been useful before anyone else made use of it. People just give too much credit to everyone else when its Your Soul doing the vast majority of the heavy lifting and actually getting shit done in a decent manner. The desert wouldn't be beatable without the Soul, everyone else squeezes it for water when they're at the desert.
